This is a musical for people that don't really like musicals.
It's difficult to put into words the experience of watching this for the first time. Don't go in with any special expectations, but be prepared for that feeling that comes when you encounter real art. Surreal, emotionally dead accurate, live orchestra, very creative sets.
It's not a comedy, it's not a farce; it makes no effort to distract your mind from the main themes - love, life, passion, truth, happiness and death. It's what Tolstoy would have created if he was a musical director. Yes, it's a Russian after all, so we need to think about death. There's no return ticket on life's train.

I hate musicals. I despise givers up. So was astonished to have been entertained and so profoundly moved as to have become a convert. Amazing sets. Beautiful cast. Melodies set to become classics. Pure artistic perfection.
