- Renaldo Venison is the quirky director of the good intentioned yet underfunded Camp Deer Creek, a place where adventure is mandatory. After taking over the camp after his father, Edward, he has succeeded to keep the camp afloat despite many safety concerns and management issues the camp presents. Renaldo holds a meeting with his staff informing them about their upcoming press conference where he plans to unveil plans for a climbing tower. He then informs his staff that his father will be showing up to check in on the camp and puts Kenny and Dave, his two best counselors, in charge of the event.
All would be smooth sailing if it weren't for Renaldo's little hobby. At night, he dresses up as the cryptic 'Deer Man', a local legend in the area, in an attempt to keep the campers from going out at night. Spending most of his nights wandering the woods takes its toll on Renaldo however, when he begins missing meetings and failing to properly prepare for the press conference. Kenny confronts him on the issue, but Renaldo explains that nothing is going on and that he will be ready for the conference. Fed up, Kenny plans a stakeout of Renaldo's house to catch him in the act. Hours pass and Kenny gives up, giving Renaldo the benefit of the doubt. Moments after Kenny leaves, Renaldo sneaks out to continue his antics.
The following morning, the conference is a packed house, with Renaldo's father only minutes away, and Renaldo no where to be found. Kenny cancels the conference and searches the woods, finding Renaldo fast asleep on the forest floor. Renaldo begins to see the error of his ways before his father drives up. Edward infantilizes his son by informing him how horribly he's been running the camp. Edward leaves behind his heartbroken son, as Kenny resigns from his job.
Renaldo spends the night reflecting, and decides to leave the Deer Man life behind as well as make amends for his past mistakes. He contacts a construction company and after a month, successfully builds the climbing tower he dreamt of. All is finally right at Camp Deer Creek, and by recognizing his life and prioritizing his work, he still finds time on weekends to be Deer Man without it interfering with his life.
