Pop TV’s cupboard looks awfully bare after the ViacomCBS-owned network slashed three shows from its roster. It could be a signal of a shift away from scripted content, as the newly-combined company looks to pull more of its resources together. On Wednesday, the network abruptly canceled three of its series, including the Anna Paquin-led “Flack” just 10 days before it was set to return for its second season. Additionally, the network pulled the plug on “Florida Girls,” which had been renewed for a second season last fall, and its upcoming “Best Intentions.” Those shows will be shopped elsewhere, with ViacomCBS helping them find new platforms. Representatives for Pop TV declined to comment further on the network’s plans going forward. The decision comes as the network is saying goodbye to its first original series, “Schitt’s Creek,” which after years of being a cult hit has now become an actual success story,...

Anna Paquin’s dark comedy drama Flack may well find another home in the U.S. after it was abruptly pulled by Pop TV.
Yesterday, it emerged that the ViacomCBS-backed network was pulling three of its five original series, including Flack, Florida Girls and Best Intentions. Flack was set to launch its second season on Pop on March 13.
However, Jimmy Mulville, who runs Flack producer Hat Trick Productions, told Deadline that he was “confident” of finding a new Stateside home for the series, which is co-produced by Paquin and Stephen Moyer’s Casm Films. A co-production with British broadcaster UKTV, it will still air on UKTV’s W network in March.
“It’s sad to end the show on Pop, the first season did well for them and UKTV,” said Mulville. “I’m confident that we’ll be able to find another home for the show. There’s no shortage of platforms.

Florida Girls and Flack will not air their second seasons on Pop TV after all.
Variety is reporting that Pop has canceled both series ahead of their second seasons.
Every episode of Flack Season 2 is already in the can, and it was set to debut later this month.
Florida Girls was renewed back in October 2019, and according to social media posts from the cast, it was in pre-production on its second season.
Also not going ahead is Best Intentions, a coming-of-age comey from American Pie's Adam Herz.
The cancellation of these three shows leaves One Day at a Time and the soon-to-conclude Schitt's Creek as the network's sole scripted series.
The decision certainly came out of the left field, but there is hope for the canceled series.
The studios behind all three are shopping them to other networks, with Flack standing the best chance at finding a new home...

Here’s a situation that would challenge even Flack PR guru Robyn: Pop has cancelled the dramedy just shy of its Season 2 premiere.
Per our sister site Variety, the cable network also yanked Florida Girls, which it renewed for Season 2 in October 2019, and Best Intentions, a coming-of-age comedy from American Pie‘s Adam Herz. Best Intentions had not yet premiered on Pop.

“Florida Girls is another reason to find the Pop network,” is how The New York Times headlined its glowing review of the new Pop series last July. That reason is no longer there.
In a week when Pop was hit by major layoffs, the ViacomCBS network also saw its original scripted slate gutted, with three of its five series abruptly canceled, Florida Girls, Flack and Best Intentions. All had previously ordered new seasons well in the works.
Florida Girls, from Lionsgate, 3 Arts Entertainment and Jax Media, has already started production on its second season. Best Intentions, from A+E Studios, is two weeks away from start of production on its first season. The Anna Paquin-starring British import Flack saw its plug pulled 10 days before the announced March 13 premiere of Season 2, featuring new cast members Sam Neill and Daniel Dae Kim.

Pop TV is ending three of its series, including two that were previously renewed for additional seasons.
The ViacomCBS network decided not to move forward with the second seasons of “Flack” and “Florida Girls,” (both had been picked up for sophomore runs within the last few months), and is scuttling plans for “Best Intentions,” which was picked up to series last summer.
“Flack” was renewed for season 2 last August and had even set a premiere date for March 13. “Florida Girls” was picked up for a second season last October. All three series came from outside studios and will be free to shop their series elsewhere.

Pop TV is paring down its scripted programming commitments as dust continues to settle from the Viacom-CBS merger. Variety has learned exclusively that three original series — “Flack,” “Florida Girls,” and “Best Intentions” — will not move ahead at the network. Their respective studios will be free to shop the shows to other outlets.
According to multiple sources, studio partners were informed at the beginning of this week that the shows would not be continuing at Pop. Production on at least two of the shows was scheduled to begin soon.
Pop’s breakout hit series “Schitt’s Creek” remains the cornerstone of the network, with the show currently airing its sixth and final season. The series finale is scheduled to air April 7 and will be simulcast on Pop, Comedy Central, and Logo. In addition, Pop is moving forward with plans to air a fourth season of “One Day at a Time,...

ViacomCBS is cutting three scripted series from the lineup of its cable network Pop TV. Previously ordered seasons of Florida Girls, Flack and Best Intentions will not air on the niche network as the parent company makes a move toward more ownership of its programming.
The moves leave Schitt's Creek, which will air its series finale on April 7, and the revived One Day at a Time as the only originals on Pop. The respective studios behind the other shows — Lionsgate for Florida Girls, Casm Films and Hat Trick Productions for Flack and A+E Studios for Best Intentions — are free to take the shows ...
