The third Star Trek series to be animated after Star Trek: The Animated Series (1973) and Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020). However, this is the first Star Trek series to be 3D computer animated. The other two were traditional hand-drawn animation and 2D computer animation respectively.
Rok-Tahk belongs to Brikar race, a rock-based lifeform. It is a hint for Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989): in the movie it was planned a fight scene between Kirk, Spock and Sybok against a rock monster after their arrival to Sha Ka Ri, but finally it was scrapped. It was used in the later Galaxy Quest (1999), a Star Trek parody.
At a point of Let Sleeping Borg Lie (2022), Jankom Pog mentions "transparent aluminum". This a reference for Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), where Bones and Scotty, while they were in the 20th century, gave the formula of the chemical structure of transparent aluminum to a manufacturing company to create the tank they needed to transport whales to 23rd century.
In Kobayashi (2022) Dal faces the Kobayashi Maru holodeck. It is the same test shown in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) and later in the reboot franchise Star Trek (2009). The episode is dedicated to the memory of Rene Auberjonois, James Doohan and Leonard Nimoy, who played Odo, Montgomery Scott and Spock in the episode that assist Dal in the Kobayashu. Their voices were obtained using archive sounds, since that they died in 2019, 2005 and 2015 respectively. Another Starfleet members in the Kobayashi include Uhura (also using archive sound of actress Nichelle Nichols) and Dr. Beverley Crusher, with Gates McFadden reprising her role as Crusher.
