Ebenezer Scrooge: [He comes face to face with The Ghost of Christmas Past sitting in one of his chairs after a visitation with his father] You are the spirit Marley told me about-the one who doesn't even care.
Ghost of Christmas Past: [He gives a short chuckle] Ah, I am the canvas. It is you who paints the pictures.
Ebenezer Scrooge: [He gets angry] I don't care for riddles. I am done. Your point is made.
[He stalks closer, but not by much]
Ebenezer Scrooge: If it makes any difference, your visit opened an old wound barely ever healed. Congratulations. Now if you don't mind, I should like to sleep.
[He turns to go back to bed]
Ghost of Christmas Past: [He seems to be relishing this. He stands up] You will not get down on your knees and beg me for absolution?
Ebenezer Scrooge: [He scowls, coming closer to the spirit so they're face to face] No. I am quite careless of myself. I count myself to sleep each night the same. One day, the count will end. So...
Ghost of Christmas Past: [He circles the miser., facing away from him] I have had men claw at my robes, women soak my sleeves with their tears.
Ebenezer Scrooge: [He sneers] Well, perhaps you should claim a new robe against tax as a legitimate expense.
Ghost of Christmas Past: [He gazes intently at Scrooge., his voice a low growl] Tonight, you will not sleep, Ebenezer Scrooge.
[He takes off the top hat Scrooge's father had]
Ghost of Christmas Past: I will NOT allow it.
