In high hopes of finding out what happened to her fifteen years previously, Amanda travels to Sevastopol Station, a deep-space base in orbit of the massive gas-planet, KG-348, along with her colleagues, Christopher Samuels and Nina Taylor, to recover the crucial flight recorder unit of Ellen's ship.
