Tully (2018)
This is not a review. It is the funniest quote from the movie.
Tully says: "Marlo, I'm here to help you with everything, not just Mia. You can't fix the parts without treating the whole."
Marlo: "Yeah, no one's treated my hole in a long time."
(a very funny play on words)
Undertow (2004)
Painful
It's hard to describe how painful it was to watch this movie. It was horrible. There was no plot, no theme, and I couldn't have cared less if all of the characters died. A film doesn't have to follow a formula to be good, but this was random. It started nowhere and went nowhere. It was worse than "Eyes Wide Shut." If you want to watch a movie about nothing, see this one. I know some films like to leave it to the audience to figure out the meaning of the things depicted. I got the thing about the coins, but who really cares. By then I was exhausted from waiting for something to happen. A good example of the randomness of the movie is the stuff about the kid eating paint and dirt. What did it have to do with the movie? What did it have to do with anything? It came from nowhere and went nowhere. The film just went on and on and on. I kept waiting for something to happen, but it never did. It was a complete waste of time to watch. When the movie ended, the only word uttered by my 27 year old daughter (a real film buff) was "painful." I couldn't agree more. I find it hard to believe that this film grossed $124,000. People should have been paid to watch it.
Half Past Dead (2002)
Typical Seagal. I gives you just what you expect.
This film is better than the voting for it so far. It's the same as Under Siege and several of his other films, just in a different setting. If you like one you'll like them all. You have to look at it for what it is. I thought it was as good or better than the others. Good sound track too.
One Hour Photo (2002)
Slow as molasses with no where to go.
Probably one of the worst films ever made. Not only is it so slow, when you finally think something is going to happen, the plot goes nowhere and makes little sense. It's not shocking, frightening or the least bit emotional. A complete waste of time.
The End of the Affair (1999)
If I wasn't watching this at home, I would have walked out.
This was one of the most difficult movies to sit though that I have seen in a long time. The amazing thing is that IMDB recommends Eyes Wide Shut if you liked End of the Affair. I think they are the only two films in recent memory to which I gave a 1 as my vote. My compliments to the database for its knowledge of similar movie tastes.
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
boring
This movie violated all the rules for a good movie. The acting was stiff and emotionless. I was left with no feeling for any of the characters, good or bad. The film maker has to make you hate the bad guys and love the good guys. Neither happened in this one. A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.
A Bug's Life (1998)
It was hard to stay awake.
I finally broke down and saw my first "cartoon" movie since I was a kid. (actually, I saw Aladin on video tape, but I wouldn't pay to see it) I should have stuck to my guns. Unfortunately, on Christmas Day, there wasn't a movie playing that I really wanted to see. This one was a cute story, but there was something lacking. I didn't develop any feelings for the characters. I think most people who liked the movie, just liked the animation, which was excellent. Don't waste your time on this one.
Diggstown (1992)
Fun movie with a great ending.
If you watch movies for the enjoyment of it, and just want to feel good when it's over, this is a great one. This is a great "formula" movie. The characters are developed so you love the good ones, and hate the bad.
