The Mummy (1999)
Mini Teens Will Find Bits Scary
Although this movie was rated as suitable for 12-year olds in the UK, you will probably find 12 year olds of the "not streethard" variety will find bits a bit frightening. (Even some of the adults were looking away for the odd bit!)
Shakespeare in Love (1998)
Enough Already! Go See The Film...It's Great.
Sorry folks. I go to the movies to be entertained, not to see if I can spot the join in the indoor/outdoor shots, or to wonder where all the hair goes when the heroine wears a wig.
This movie will make you forget about the outside world for a few hours and it will make you laugh a lot (and maybe cry in places). Go see it, it's excellent.
Up 'n' Under (1998)
Blokes Version Of The Full Monty
Having heard how great The Full Monty was, I was sadly disappointed when I finally went to see it. The women in the audience thought it was absolutely hilarious, but I only found it mildly amusing. (Maybe being a bloke has something to do with it:-))
A week later though, I went to see Up and Under. What a difference! Good photography, variety of locations, nice use of humour, great actors and altogether a much more rounded film than Monty. (And yes it has got Samantha Janus in it - but that's not the only reason to go see it!) I will be buying *this* on video, but I'll be giving Monty a miss. Shame the soundtrack CD is so pricey.
