sobering in its subject matter, logical in its simplicity
30 November 1998
To tell you the truth, I am surprised that a movie as powerful and sobering as this and dealing with the subject matter that it does, is done by a studio. It's intricate in its protrayal of white supremecy and the form of the plot is masterfully done, as is the acting, and cinematography. But for all its power and logic, there are intricacies which get overlooked. The dialogue, for instance is somewhat unrealistic in its blatant disregard for subtlety. I think when the director and writer were looking over the subject matter they tried to make it very blatant, but at the same time inadvertently forced the dialogue to become a say-all for what was going on in the story or scene. Unlike most people I think Edward Furlong did a wonderful job playing Danny and it was the script that called for the quick change of attitude. I really think the director and writer show budding talent, but that talent needs to be refined more. Still, this movie should at least be nominated for best picture along with Edward Norton being nominated for best actor.

This movie moves me
30 November 1998
Give this movie a ten, it has more excitement and pure fun than almost any other, John Carpenter has constructed a masterpiece. This movie is awesome, It's got Kurt Russell at his best. Every line that he says just rocks. This picture is the most unique film that had come around in years when it was released. Nothing comes close to its ingenuity or classic mixture of Chinese mythology. If you don't watch it I will personally search out and destroy you. Like some dude up there said, just chill with your popcorn snacks and drinks, and saddle up, because it's going to be one hell of a ride!
