G.I. Joe: The Movie (1987 Video)

A true extension of the television show and a worthy achievement...

This is a good movie. While not as visually stunning as a Disney animated film, this is very good, strong animation. It keeps the spirit of the TV show very well and extends it even better. Just as good as the comics, a very enjoyable film for anyone who was ever into 1980s afternoon cartoons.

The Transformers: The Movie (1986)

A true transformation of the Transformer Universe

This is a good movie. One of the few American Anime style movies (and if you don't think this is Anime style, you've never seen it), this is a turning point in the Transformers Universe. Everything changes from here. It's too bad that Mattel failed to capitalize on what could have been a boom in Transformers... they lessened the quality of the toys after this movie and didn't cash in on the potential this movie gave them. This movie is a MUST for anyone who's ever played with a Transformer, anyone who's ever been a fan of 1980s afternoon cartoons, or anyone who thinks that Americans can't deal with Japanese animation.

What Dreams May Come (1998)

A powerful storyline and some great performances

This movie, excuse the pun, moved me. I cried. A lot. We're talking most of the movie here. Cuba Gooding showed why he's got an Oscar, and Robin Williams was his normal brilliant self. I have to say that this is the best movie I've seen in quite a while. This is a totally abstract work. I loved the uniqueness in it, even if one even didn't totally flow to the next, what can you expect when you travel through Hell? I have to say, though, that if he was in Hell, maybe I should start having more fun because Hell didn't look so bad... Overall a must see film for any fan of the performers as well as one for anyone who can identify with the "lost love must get back come Hell or high water" storyline.

Small Soldiers (1998)

A good premise that just didn't develop well...

This was a movie with potential. I looked at Small Soldiers and thought, "Cool! There's a real opportunity here to do some things with the animation that has not yet been seen..." Unfortunately, the only thing that wasn't seen here was a decent writer. This movie was not very well done. The character development was almost totally absent, not only on the Commandos but also on the Troglacons. Not even the HUMANS were well done in this film. The few chuckles that came from this film were fleeting, and I'm not if they were actually funny, or if I was just forcing myself to be amused because I paid $8 to see this stinker.

The bottom line is that I came in with decent expectations and left thinking I'd wasted $8...

Happy Gilmore (1996)

A great movie... keeps me laughing even though I've seen it 100 times!

This is truly one of my all time favourite movies... Adam Sandler is TERRIFIC as the frustrated hockey player/reluctant golfer. The great thing is that he's only one of a number of great performances in this movie. Carl Weathers is also very well done as the former pro whose career was cut short by a hungry alligator. Ben Stiller is decent as the evil retirement home intern, and whoever it was that played Shooter McGavin was about as annoying as could be (which means he played his part well!)...

I heartily recommend this movie to anyone looking for a good laugh. It always works for me!

Strange Brew (1983)

My all time favourite movie!

Need I say more? Ever since I was 8, Bob and Doug MacKenzie have been my heroes. Maybe it's a Canadian thing. I don't know. All I know is that I LOVE this movie! Anyone who loves silly comedies and beer should OWN this one!
