Just watch the trailer.
23 April 2023
Seriously. This isn't rocket science I understand but seriously why can't these movies have ANY depth to them? Is it on purpose to appeal to the teenagers and young adults?

I always wondered if when they are putting trailers together (which is an art upon itself) if they ever get to a point in the process where they look at each other because they know they have no way of not telling the entire story with what they're given to work with.

I'm sure they tweak and submit then tweak again and again until everyone is satisfied and excited but then the reality hits at some point (maybe) that the entire movie had basically been told in 2.5 minutes!

So watch the trailer and you'll have yourself almost two full hours to go read a book or something!

One redeeming factor!
15 February 2023
Lots of great Cars songs! Other than that you can literally write the script in your head before they say the lines. Every character is a shallow unrealistic over magnification of reality.

I get the genre and I know going in what to expect but at the very least these movies should give you some wit, cute twist, characters with some depth. Amazingly this movie has the ability to pull it off with none of this!

I am certain that my wife and I over a three day weekend would be able to come up with a better plot with real human characters and humor just based off our own lives and experiences and I'm sure you could do the same.

Just a disappointment all around considering the caliber of talent in the leads. You can't say you weren't warned if you still choose to watch!

To think anyone can write a script and get it made. I literally didn't laugh once and grew more embarrassed for Melissa as the movie progressed.

This episode was a joke

Literally two hours to find out they absolutely know nothing new. I feel bad for the volunteers who wasted their weekend looking for nothing. Watch the HBO documentary it's much better with many more theories and witnesses.

Fantastic episode

This is my favorite episode so far. I know only 3 at this point but just solid all the way through. Some funny moments with Gata again but my God the very last scene in the garage had me laughing until I teared up! Classic. "I'll just park on the street." 😂🤣

Hard to find the words.

The acting and the writing are so pitch perfect that you forget you're watching a miniseries and actually feel like you're watching real life.

As a 15 year old boy in 1986 I have memories of this in the news but here I am at 49 really learning about the tragedy that was Chernobyl.

Amazing miniseries.

A fun, well done show.
2 September 2004
I was on vacation and my 5 year old was telling me about this new show on Nick that she wanted to watch. I was doing other things around the house while she watched it but I could tell just by hearing it and how much she was into it that this was different. I sat down and watched it with her, as well as the rest of the week while I was on vacation! This is a nice little show that somehow takes something so simple (like having to brush your teeth) and makes it fun to watch for the 15 minute segment. Great story, fun sets, good songs, and good acting from all involved (yes the puppets too!) I very much like Robbie Rotten and imagine the actor enjoys playing him so animated. You will like this show, and I'm sure I'll buy it when it comes out on DVD because my 5 year old loves to watch it again and again!

My wife made me watch this
27 March 2003
As a fan of movies I will watch just about anything and give it a chance. I KNEW going into this that it wouldn't be pretty...well actually it was..."Pretty Woman". Some of the scenes were direct rip offs of that movie. I don't know why women like these things, I guess the same way they like romance novels. It must be escapism for my wife like James Bond films are an escape for guys, but the difference is the Bond films are well made and interesting. You do not have to watch this movie to know what will happen, not even the trailer it's just that predictable. As a matter of fact the first thing I said when the film ended in a smart ass tone was "That was the most unpredictable movie I've ever watched!". I just got "the look" from my wife. It is utterly unrealistic, and for any guys reading this, J Lo only dresses really hot in one scene at a dinner party that lasts about 5 minutes, the rest of the 1 hour and 50 minutes she's wearing a maid's uniform. Not hardly worth it now is it?

Not a ride in reality
2 January 2003
I don't mind these movies...IF...they can maintain some type of reality. Usually they do in the first couple of acts aside from a few things that I can overlook. But when it gets to the "big climax" it all falls apart. If you don't have a problem suspending reality a lot you will enjoy this. If you don't get shocked or spooked once the movie crosses the threshold into the unbelievable you won't like it.

Keep the film in perspective
15 December 2002
I just finished watching "Like Mike" with my 7 year old son and he loved it. On a scale from 1-10 I gave it an 8. I must admit I was partial on the vote because it reflected my son's enjoyment. I think some should remember that this was a kid's movie and shouldn't take it so seriously. I enjoyed the flow and even though it was obviously very predictable let's not forget the target audience for this film. "Like Mike" was enjoyable and warm and perfect for your FAMILY film night, as it was intended in the first place.

Script so boring it'll put you to sleep
11 September 2002
I agree with other comments about this film...a fine pool of actors but the script!? I couldn't believe Dillon said some of his lines without laughing. They were so by the book, you knew what was going to happen long before it did. With the names attatched to this film I know I held it to a higher standard than others before I ever saw it, heck that's the reason why I wanted to watch it in the first place, but it just didn't make the grade. I had to struggle to stay awake after the 45-50 minute mark. I was just waiting for it to find it's feet and it never did.

Slow and Boring
7 June 2002
I almost fell asleep 3 times watching this. You just want to tell them to get out of park on this one. Plus the inconsistencies are to numerous to mention. It's ridiculous, especially after they tell you this was based on "true" events. Swing and a miss....you want spooky like this movie is trying to do then rent "Sixth Sense" or "The Others"

This is why they won't ever replace live actors
2 June 2002
The movie technically was terrific with great imagination, however it would have been nice if I cared at all about the characters. I didn't and that is my major flaw with the movie. It just came across as cold with no emotion.

The best made for t.v. ever.
4 October 2001
HBO has only shown 5 of the 10 episodes of "Band Of Brothers" but I've seen enough to tell you that when they re-air it, or release it on DVD or VHS watch it. This type of show is the reason I subscribe. It is unbelievable, you don't want the hour to end and you're on the edge of your seat the entire time. Don't miss this show!

Hannibal (2001)

Like a bad meal that lasts 2 hours
21 August 2001
I've read a lot of reviews on this website that go into great detail why not to see this movie...I agree with all of them. I'll just keep mine short and sweet. Writing-Poor. Plot-Unbelievable. Acting-Paint by numbers. The only thing that this movie has to make it stand out is the gore factor, and that's the only thing you'll remember about it 10 years from now. However, I remember so many details from "Silence Of The Lambs". I would suggest that you rent that again, it's a much better use of your time if you want to visit with Hannibal again.

Even Rock couldn't make this movie Roll
16 August 2001
I really wanted to like this movie...obviously because Chris Rock is the funniest comedian working today, and in the top 5 of all time, but about 20 minutes into the film I realized that the writing just wasn't all it could be. Don't get me wrong, Rock does all that he can with what's given him, but it becomes another predictable comedy. Would I recommend this to a friend? Only if my friend is a big Chris Rock fan, if not don't bother.

Good but S-L-O-W
16 August 2001
I know big fans of this film are going to get upset by my one line summary, but the truth is that it's very slow moving. I'm sure (at least hope) that this was done for a reason, I just don't think it was that necessary. The story is good, but it could have been told in an hour but runs 1 hour 40 minutes and about 1/3 of the film is just drawn out shots giving (in my opinion)us more detail than we really need.

HBO lost money on this one.
7 July 2001
HBO is now showing "Battlefield Earth" in regular rotation. From what I understand how pay t.v. works, you have to "bid" on movies while still in production (That's how they get the behind the scenes documentaries while in theaters) and then get to show them about a year after release date. All I can think watching it on HBO is that I bet they wish they were over bid by another pay t.v. service so they wouldn't have to waste their air time with this dribble. Avoid at all costs...this movie is less entertaining than any other movie I can think of. This movie makes many direct to video film great, and they didn't even have a quarter of the budget that this film had.

And you thought you had a bad childhood huh?!
25 April 2001
I feel two ways about this movie...on one point it's a very well made film, beautifully shot which really sets the mood of the film. The other point is "alright already!" It's a sad story to be sure, I just didn't know it was going to be consistently depressing for the better part of 2 1/2 hours. If you have read the book you'll probably want to see the film just out of curiousity, you may still want to see it because of what you've read or heard from friends. You'll look at your own childhood and be thankful you weren't one of the kids out of the film.

Predictable but good family movie.
17 April 2001
I found this movie on Showtime and found it predictable but a good movie for the entire family. It's a coming of age story about a young boy who has been spoiled all his life living in Los Angeles. His parents go on a 6 week cruise and has to spend his summer with his Grandfather who he hasn't seen in 14 years. Richard Crenna is his crusty old self and it's nice to see David Carradine in a softer role. With a lack of movies you can watch with the entire family these days I think you'll find this movie to fit the bill on family movie night.

Will adults enjoy the movie...no, but they'll enjoy their free time
9 September 2000
This is not a movie that I would recommend to adults to watch, however, if you have kids and you need to get the house clean with little distraction put this in the VCR. Kids have no problem seeing the same movie 50 times and this is one that they will not tire of. So pop it in and start cleaning your house...the kids will leave you alone...atleast for 90 minutes!

Better than I thought it would be.
29 December 1998
When my daughter came to visit over Christmas holiday she brought with her a copy of "The Parent Trap" that she got for Christmas. I have to admit that I thought it would be just another boring "kid movie" but I was quite surprised at myself for laughing out loud and enjoying myself through out the film. It's a good one for watching with your kids but not wanting to watch another animated film again.

Even though a Scorsese rip-off still a good film.
29 December 1998
I should count the number of Scorsese rip-offs in this movie. Off the top of my head I could name a bunch from Goodfellas and Raging Bull...however...if you're gonna rip someone off why not rip-off the best in the business. I think this is a great story and I enjoyed it very much. If I had one real complaint it's that it's about 20 minutes longer than it needs to be. This is a very powerful film and although the critics praised Burt Reynolds for his role, I thing Mark Whalberg's was just as convincing.
