Menace II Society (1993)

How can anyone be stupid enough to not give this a 10?

This movie has to be the most realistic ghetto movie I've ever seen.. the profanity is there because that is really the way people talk. Boyz In the Hood had a sappy plot and and a sappy storyline in it that was full of preaching and unrealism. the main character always makes the right choices and comes out good and everything. Menace is much better because while the main character does have some good in him, he cannot break free from the harsh society he and his parents were trapped in. The whole movie hits you and scares the hell out of you because it is truthful and this is actually what people do. If anybody out there is enough of a moron to give this movie a bad review, I'd like to know why.

A Visual Treat and a good movie too

Now this is the real Europe portrayed! I don't think there's a single camera shot in the movie which isn't beautiful.. the overhead views of the european cities are grand and picturesque and the photography is always good.. Only an idiot would be stupid enough to say the film was boring with car chases like that and an intelligent plot like that. The film is very good for an action film and unlike other ''hardcore'' action films like Die Hard or ''smooth and chalant'' action films like those Bond movies, it doesn't rely on tons of high tech gadgets or explosions every 10 minutes to capture the viewer's interest.. In my opinion if there is anyone who thinks this movie is bad they must have serious brain damage.

One Eight Seven (1997)

The Apocalypse Now of School Movies

The movie itself is good and at least a 3 star effort with great acting and all but the real element of the film is its photography and soundtrack. The shots of the school mixed in with the music give it a sort of urban jungle feel and the colors are very good. The gritty blue at the start is very good and the movie doesn't really exaggerate about how bad its students are. Like other teacher movies it doesn't try to show the teacher reaching the kids and them finally loving him or some corny unrealistic stuff like that. It is a very good film and should be watched because of its story and its uniqueness

Malcolm X (1992)

Best Movie of 1992 without any doubt

I really figured this movie would not get best picture but to my surprise it was not even nominated.. It's too controversial a movie to ever win a best picture oscar and as has been shown before the idiots at the academy hate different movies (Apocalypse Now, Clockwork Orange, JFK). This movie is powerful throughout and once get hooked in it u stay hooked in it. the first hour introduces us to Malcolm and the events in his life that shaped him as a grown man and figuring how his father was killed by the KKK and his family split by a government agency, there really can't be any blame towards him for his hatred of whites along with the fact that blacks were abused and treated unequally at that time. Spike Lee gives a great analysis of Malcolm X and doesn't stoop to making him a heroic myth but rather portrays the truth and contrary to most critics he doesn't put in his racial bias.. When a white student asks Malcolm if she could help him with his struggles, he replies no and walks away but instead of just ending it there we see the hurt look on the student as he walks away.. It's a great movie and a great tribute to a great man and the speeches in the movie tremble with fury and grasp u.. the prologue has got to be a highlight.. The Rodeny King tape airs as if to reinforce Malcolm X's speech showing how things are still the same today and when the flag burns to an X, its as if his words are breaking the very foundations of America and exposing its injustices to the world.

Tombstone (1993)

Revived the dead western

My favorite movie dealing with Wyatt Earp and Tombstone, and though the critics panned it and there are other more critically acclaimed flicks like My Darling Clementine or Gunfight At the OK Corral, this one was the one that really hooked me when I saw it in 93 as a child. I loved it and still do.. Most critics are pretty stupid in their harsh judgements of movies... So tell Siskel n Ebert or Maltin to shut the hell up and rent it for yourself and see another great performance from the best actor of the 90s, Val Kilmer

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)

Overbloated garbage

I don't really know or really even care why this film is considered such a classic. I figure if trash like Titanic is treasured so is Star Wars. It's pretty bad considering it's a remake of Akira Kurosawa's superior The Hidden Fortress. It pushes all the right buttons and tries to sound overdramatic.. When Obie Wankanobe loses, it is supposed to be some sort of holy moment. .I really didn't care.. This movie is not total garbage but just nowhere near the phenomena it deserves.. for me, at best it deserves 2 stars or a 4 out of 10

Around the World in 80 Days (1956)

Best Adventure Movie Ive ever seen

It's really amazing how so many critics and reviewers are stupid in underrating this movie.. If those morons have not found out yet that the main element of it is fun, they never will.. Much better an adventure movie than even so called classics like The Wizard Of Oz .. As a child watching the movie was exhilarating and it's like a 2 hour trip through history.. a great movie

Cool Hand Luke (1967)

Great movie

This movie had to inspire One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and it is one of the best films I have ever seen, though after he gets caught the second time, you begin to sense there is no hope or direction left in him as his attempts always get destroyed but yet he still remains a hero to his peers who view him as a person who won't give in to the system.. The ending is one of the few endings that can actually make you sad or depressed.. Newman's best performance

I can't believe that a great movie like this has only a 7.6.. Some of the users here must be mentally challenged to give this great musical such low ratings.. The music and the choreography is top notch and the script itself is pretty good for a musical.. This would be the french Singin In the Rain..

The best silent I have seen yet.. Buster Keaton's a film genius for making a movie like this.. the scenes where the film surroundings change while Buster is in the film is hilarious and even seems hard to make as a realistic special effect today. His stunts are great and its amazing that he did them himself. They're all perfectly timed and done and look as hard as they must be. This movie is one of the best.. Not a single sound the whole movie and I enjoyed it greatly.. Keaton is without a doubt the best comedian.. better than Chaplin or anyone else.

Riot (1996 TV Movie)

Presents all views of the riots

It was a very good film in the way that it showed how the riots affected people from every perspective... the police officers being under fear of losing their life, the chinese boy afraid of losing the market store for which his family worked so hard, the poor latino boy who is carried away by the urge to provide his family with luxuries and the black man who is trying to survive the racial tensions. It's a very good movie and takes no side but rather shows how each race and each person in the situation suffered

Geez.. How stupid can some people be? If you were goin into this movie expecting some enlightenment and dark themes of man against the element and came out disappointed, you're so stupid you deserve to be. How can people critic this movie on acting or plot when even the dumbest person could see that this is just a ''fun'' movie? You go into the theater expecting great visuals and some rush of excitement and you get it. Simple enough to understand. On that terms, in terms of enjoyment, it should rank a 9 or 10 out of 10. If you want some high enlightenment go see the re-release of Gone With The Wind or something

The Doors (1991)

It wasn't as great as I thought it'd be but it was not as bad as the critics made it out to be. Finally a tribute to the greatest idol in rock.. The Doors were without a doubt the best rock band.. their music wasn't the type that you would get sick of after listening to for a couple of months.. their music was the type that defined life and the world. And I guess if a movie was to be made after the doors Oliver Stone did one hell of a job at it. But still, the movie should have given a bit more attention to the turmoil in the band itself than Morrison's personal life and that's the way it was in real life too.. The fellow band members got overlooked while Morrison got the name

Repulsion (1965)

Repulsion has got to be one of the best ''psycho'' movies yet.. It even outdoes Psycho, the original of the nutcase movies.. Whereas Pyscho provides an outside view of the victim, this movie goes into Deneuve's mind and shows the images which she sees. great symbols too such as the rotting bunny and the whole house. Different yet great

I know it doesn't have the themes of It's A Wonderful Life and no, it is not one of the movies that are rerun over and over and over again like Miracle On 34th Street, Christmas Story or Scrooged. Most critics call it a 3 star feel happy film. It is a feel happy film and that's why it is such a great movie but most critics pan it just because theres not some great theme or plot in it. The Bishop's Wife is just one of those charming movies that portrays the world as you'd wish it to be and has Dudley as everyone's great angel. It's the best fantasy because from the start it doesn't show Grant in angel wings but rather as a human so it makes it seem like there is Dudley qualities in all of us.. a great film
