Back to God's Country (1919)
For an old Silent Movie I Thought it was quite good.
A very good plot and exciting action throughout. Most of the silent movies have little to offer but this one seems to present good direction and production. I saw this movie on Turner Classic Movies, which gave detail before it came on.
Harry and Tonto (1974)
A truly heartwarming movie
I saw the movie for the first time on AMC and enjoyed it a lot. You don't see movies of this type anymore and when you see one like this you can't forget it. I thought Art Carney did a tremendous job acting as Harry. It also tended to remind people that they get old and lose their friends due to death and search for new companions.
King Kong (1933)
Probably one of the greatest THRILL movies of all time
I've saw KING KONG when it first came out in 1933 when I was 12 years old and have seen it at least 50 times in the ensuing years in movies and video. It still thrills me and my son as
much as it did in 1933 when it played in San Francisco, where the theatre had doctors and nurses standing by in case people passed out in fright.Terrific film!!!!
The Trail of the Lonesome Pine (1936)
Great early color movie
I saw this movie when I was 15 years old and never forgot it; I now have a copy of it and watch it often and enjoy it as much as when it first came out in 1936.
The Virginian (2000)
A good TV movie By TNT
I've seen many of the VIRGINIAN movies over the years from 1924 to the present and this one is more descriptive and the acting is great by Bill Pullman. Naturally with newer settings and color it is better, but the older ones, 1929 with Gary Cooper and 1946 with Joel McCrea had their merits.
Anna and the King (1999)
Not a great, but good movie
My wife and I went to see the movie and both of us enjoyed it but because it was much more different from other versions made in the past it was harder to understand. Jody Foster's voice was very light and sometimes difficult to hear. The scenery was magnificent.
Gone with the Wind (1939)
The Greatest and best picture of all time
I was 18 years old when I first saw GWTW in February 1940 and was extremely impressed with the film and the
terrific acting of Vivien Leigh, who I think should be named the greatest actress of the 20th century. Since 1940, I've seen GWTW at least 20 times in theatres and have two video tapes that I view at least twice a year. GWTW will be 60 years old this year and I do not know of any other film that old that has as much interest to people all over the world.
The Desert Song (1929)
Terrific movie of that time
I remember seeing this film in 1929 when I was 8 years old and how dramatic and thrilling it was. John Boles was a wonderful singer and actor who appeared in many great movies in the 30's.
