Contradictions glare!
28 May 2000
YUCK. This movie was soooooooo fake, totally untrue. I've read all of her Little House books and several biographies. None of them give me the impression that the real Laura was in any way like this fictional Laura. Meredith Monroe was so annoying, sniping, and so plainly terrible. I cannot stand her even on Dawson's Creek. Richard Thomas was the only halfway believable character. Sigh...... Needless to say, I was disappointed! Both thumbs down and would not in any way recommend this to ANYONE!!!!!

Very disappointing
26 January 2000
I know, I know, it's NOT a sequel to Pretty Woman, but it uses the chemistry between Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in it. It was VERY disappointing. Not what I wanted to see, and I am sure a lot of people will agree with me. The comedy was lighthearted, but too frivolous at times, and the ending was not as good as I wanted it to be. Heck, I could have directed it better! NO offense to Garry Marshall, but I believe you blooped on this movie. ARGH! Please make another movie with Richard and Julia, and do it RIGHT like Pretty Woman! At least watch this movie once, so you get an idea of why it is so disappointing.

Sigh....
13 January 2000
Sigh...... This is one of the sweetest movies I have ever seen. It always leaves me feeling romantic and wistful for a Prince Charming of my own. I love timeless romances such as the Princess Bride, and Drew Barrymore is great as Danielle. Dougray Scott is very handsome as Henry, too. It is an excellent combination of old-fashionedness and modern culture, which is just what I like. All the puns, jokes, and funny extras certainly make the movie more interesting. Only complaint is that the character of Leonardo da Vinci is too fake. He was too jubilant and cheery, when in reality he was a very quiet, subdued person. I highly recommend this movie.

Simply one of the best French...
11 January 2000
this film, Queen Margot, is simply one of the best French movie I have ever seen. I was so blown away by the initial viewing I absolutely had to see it a few more times within a month. Isabelle's performance certainly defeats most of our American actresses' and Vincent Perez is deliciously sexy and masculine. I fell in love with him in this movie, and been a loyal fan of his since then. The story, since it was a true story, simply overwhelmed me with sadness and regret. I regret that it ever happened, but not the fact that there were people so strong in their faith that they were willing to die for it. One of my all time favorites.

Always makes me cry.
16 December 1999
I love this movie. It is one of the saddest I have ever seen. Whenever I need a good cry, I watch this one. This role of Gil is one of Ryan Phillippe's best so far. Scott Wolf was wonderfully intense in it too as Chuck. Most of the other men actors were wonderful in their roles also. Jeff Bridges' presence and all-knowing character truly completes the movie. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

One of the funniest!!
4 December 1999
This is one of the FUNNIEST movies. I always have a good laugh! The parts where the cat gets shocked under the chair and the tree falling over and the police break into the house and catch the family in mid-silliness always GETS ME!!!!!!!! I love to laugh my butt off. It's a pretty stupid movie, but you gotta see it to appreciate it! :)

Roswell (1999–2002)
Hey! One of my childhood playmates...
18 November 1999
Brendan Fehr was one of my childhood playmates, and he has come a very long way. If I passed him on the street, I would not recognize him. He was just a gangly kid who had this mischievous yet intelligent look in his eyes. I started watching Roswell because of the whole different things, but when I saw the credits roll, I saw the name Brendan Fehr and started to wonder because I saw the same glint in his eyes that he had when we were kids. I just looked up on various websites devoted to Brendan and discovered that he was the very one and same one that used to run around with the neighborhood boys long ago in Canada. I had been wondering what had happened to him since I moved away from the area almost ten years ago. I don't know any other way to say congratulations to Brendan, so I figured I could use this site. Congratulations! I hope your career lasts a long time. Aside from the Brendan factor, I am hopelessly hooked on Roswell, because of the excellent acting, moods, actions, and overall the ideal choices of the actors and actresses. I would add some more character to Isabel, though, allow us to see her interests, what motivates her in life and what she wants out of her life. I recommend this show to most people, and some of them just roll their eyes and say yeah right, but they watch it one time and they are hooked also, hook, line, and sinker. :) I hope the writers will have the stamina and creativity to make this show last for a few years, thus allowing all these primary actors (Jason, Shiri, Brendan, Katherine, and Majandra) to find more stable careers on the big and small screens, on the stage, and other avenues of life. I wish good luck to all of them! :)

Roswell (1999–2002)
Very intriguing show
15 October 1999
Roswell... I was intrigued with the show even before it was ever aired. Aliens trying to fit in our society without being found and exterminated by the government. The first episode, I was totally on the edge of my seat, wanting to see what happened next. This is one of my all time favorites already, and it has the elements which has kept Buffy the Vampire Slayer going for so long. The Max/Liz incompatibility yet love for each other similar to Buffy/Angel, which is what kept me tuning into Buffy. Roswell is an unique show in its own rights, and I encourage people to watch it!

Jack & Jill (1999–2001)
cute, interesting show
13 October 1999
I know lots of people will think that this show is like Felicity only the characters are in their twenties. That is a tad true, but the chemistry between Ivan Sergei and Amanda Peet is so combustible, I just have to see the show to see how they act! I really enjoy this show when there is usually nothing on Sunday nights. I also love Felicity, so its a good couple! I hope this show gets the viewers and support it needs and stays on the air, not ending up like Hyperion Bay. Whatever ever happened to the characters on that show? After the first show, I totally lost interest in HB, unlike my reaction to J&J. AND Simon Rex... was the original reason I tuned into it in the first place! HE IS SOOOOOOOOO GORGEOUS!!!!!!! these eyes..... oh boy! :)

The Matrix (1999)
WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW is all I can think!
6 October 1999
Like Keanu says a lot, Whoa!!!!!! The Matrix is one of the most unique movies there is. I was totally blew away by it. I started watching it at 2 am, planning to stop halfway when I was tired, but from the first two minutes, the movie grabbed me by the ears and dragged me to sit on the floor in front of the TV until 4:30 am! And I had to work at 9 am the next day! All I could think of the next few days was, I HAVE GOTTA SEE IT AGAIN!!! and buy the tape too. The special effects alone were a great reason to see it, but the story and the acting are awesome!!!!! Carrie-Anne Moss, where have you been hiding all these years? You would beat out Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Drew Barrymore any day! Keanu, thanks a million for making another wonderfully thoughtful, well acted movie. Proves that you are truly one of a kind. Ohh Whew!!! I got to go to Blockbuster tomorrow and get it again. I cannot get it out of my mind, the exact same thing happened when I saw A Walk In The Clouds. Goes to show how wonderful Keanu is. I CANNOT WAIT to see the Matrix 2 and 3!!!

One of my all time favorites!
25 June 1999
This movie always brings me back to my childhood days, it is perfect for whenever I feel nostaglic! This version is WAY better than the 1998 remake, for the remake is too silly and cheesy (at least for me!) I always enjoy this movie, and feel good at the end because I have traveled back in time to my younger days. I hope my children will feel the same in the near future. **** out of ****

Shipwrecked (1990)
Delightful film for all ages
13 June 1999
Shipwrecked is a tale about a young boy who finds his destiny and friends along the way. It is quite an interesting movie, very different and more thoughtful than most American movies. Stian Smestad does an excellent job as Hakon Hakonsen, and the actors who played Mary and Jens were wonderful also. This is a timeless classic with a good lesson in it. *** out of ****

Great movie!! so funny at times
8 June 1999
This movie is really awesome. Someone recommended it to me since she knew I loved Muriel's Wedding and Strictly Ballroom, and I was dubious at first, then the first scene where Barry Otto acts so crazy was so funny! Toni Collette is rather dark in this movie, but eventually she shines through. I have to admit I was pulling for the characters which Toni and Ben Mendelsohn plays to get together, but I am glad that Lewis' girlfriend (played by Rachel Griffiths, another wonderful actress) finally got some sense into her head. Wonderful ending, and very hilarious at the play itself!!! Recommended.

Excellent movie for a day when your self esteem is in the dumps, it always lifts me up whenever I need it. Highly recommended!! Also refer to "Strictly Ballroom", it is a great companion to this movie.

Awesome movie, one of the all time best.
17 May 1999
This movie is truly a masterpiece, it seemed so real, I actually believed it!! It was funny, serious, dark, and light at the right moments. All the cast was wonderful, especially Pat Thomson and Tara Morice. I wish that most of the cast would get together in another movie by Luhrmann, because they have great dynamics. HIGHLY Recommended!!!!!!!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003)
Awesome, exciting, all superlatives needed!
10 May 1999
Buffy.... only one word can describe this all. SUPER!!!!!!!!!! I initially refused to watch Buffy even though I love vampire stories because of the original movie with Kristy Swanson. The movie sucked, and I only started to watch because it was on right before Dawson's Creek last year, and I accidentally taped one episode before one of the Dawson's Creek episode, and I sat down all ready to watch that show... But no, it was BUFFY!!! I was p***** at first then in the first thirty seconds alone, it intrigued me so much I ended up watching it three times in a row. It happened to be the second part, called Surprise. Alas, it was ironic it had to be the Surprise episode, because I was really surprised! From that moment on, I became a true fan of Buffy and Company. As for the spinoff of Angel, I can only say I am looking forward to more intensive stories relating to Angel/Angelus and am very anxious for the first show. All these actors are excellent by the way, and I like Faith the way she is now, BAD!!!! Eliza is so deliciously evil and Sarah is the perfect counterpart. I can only say I hope this show continues well into the 21st century. :) I also would like to see Willow and Xander eventually get into a relationship (no offense to Oz...) and Buffy and Angel eventually having a decent relationship too even if it has to be played out until the series finale... Sarah, David, Charisma, Alyson, Nicholas, Anthony, Seth, and all the other actors are utterly irreplaceable in their very own roles.
