This is an "A" script with a "B" cast. Except for Jerome Cowan, Lee Patrick and Una O'Connor, the cast is not worthy of the material which is quite witty. I can imagine Jimmy Stewart, Rosiland Russell and Carole Lombard in the major parts. Then it would have been a classic.

The Man Who Laughs
(1928)
One of my favorite films
21 December 2002
I've had a tape for about ten years and watch it at least annually. Almost everything about it is pleasing. The synchronized sound track is effective, the sets are wonderful, the story and acting pleasing and the makeup effective. I rate it better than the other Universal super jewels Phantom and Hunchback.
Doctor Rhythm
(1938)
Very funny
21 August 2000
The recollection of this film is from the 60's tv. There were several enjoyable characters, including Andy Devine. The most memorable part is a bit done between Bea Lillie, customer and Franklin Pangborn, store salesman. The difficulty of purchasing a doudle dozen damask dinner napkins is hilarious. If anyone out there has a copy of this film, I would love to see it again.
