Eddie Murphy: Delirious (1983)
"Delirious" is the word!
I've never laughed and giggled so much in my life! The first half kept me in stitches; the last half made me come completely unglued! I think I giggled for 15 minutes after the tape was over.
His timing and delivery for his stories is almost unequaled. And though he talks fast, you catch every joke. Which is probably why my "laugh center" was so overwhelmed; it took an extra 15 minutes to laugh at everything.
Bounce (2000)
Two thumbs up
I liked Affleck as the slick Tom-Cruise-ish salesman, Buddy, who hits rock bottom (alcoholism), then bounces back. Paltrow, as the widow, Abby, that Affleck feels he needs to make amends to, is charming even without her previous movies' British accent.
Tony Goldwyn plays Abby's husband that dies early in the film. (I joking thought that it was just desserts, as he played the character Carl in "Ghost" that killed Patrick Swayze's Sam.)
My Best Friend's Wedding (1997)
The title's a little misleading...
A little spoiler, so skip if you don't want to know:
Jules & Mike are the "best friends" in this movie, which is a little misleading, because they were lovers previously, and hadn't seen each other for quite some time. So naturally she is a little, then a lot, jealous of his impending wedding.
What guy would invite an ex-lover, albeit his "best friend", to his wedding and have her be a part of the wedding party?
I went into watching this movie expecting Jules & Mike to be "just friends", with her only realizing her love for him. But with them being former lovers, this makes Jules' actions more along the lines of "Fatal Attraction", and her actions more disturbing.
The West Wing (1999)
A behind-the-scenes drama about the staff of the White House.
This drama (with some humorous overtones) is set in the White House West Wing, where the business of the presidency is conducted. The personal lives of the president's staff are explored, especially how they relate politically to their jobs.
Martin Sheen plays the President, bringing some genuine warmth and esteem to the role.
This show has a similar feels as the movie "The American President".
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999)
Special Victims Unit = sex crimes unit of the NYPD.
This show is about the police of the Special Victims Unit' i.e., sex crimes. The crimes are more lurid, so this show might not be for everyone.
Besides the regulars, there are cameos from the regular L&O cast.
