Han shan fei hu (1982)
Strange and cheesy kung fu film
If your looking for a good kung fu film, this isn't it. But it makes a great "midnight movie". This film mostly features swordplay that is nothing spectacular. It's charm lies in its bizarre style. It rips off soundtracks to other films such as Flash Gordon which adds to this style. It has interesting costumes and backdrops. The coolest part of the film is when the villain transforms into creature that looks like a cross between the incredible hulk and santa claus. A truly great film if you like wierd stuff, but not a good kung fu film if you are a fan of the genre.
Shao Lin zui ba quan (1981)
Not good
This film is awful. Gordon Liu is a decent actor and fighter. He really got a bum role in this film because the film is really dull. I fell asleep and had to rewind it.
Sandong muljangsu (1982)
Bad film, but some reason I liked it.
This is a bad film. I know I shouldn't have given it a 5, but more like a 2 or 3. But the story is a little different although it involves the revenge plotline like almost every other 70's - 80's kung fu film. The fights are dull, but not the worst I seen. Yet some reason I like it. Maybe because of its country-bumpkin charm, cheesy soundtrack, or humor.
It is a classic bad kung fu film that is bad with a sense of style.

Midnight movie kung fu
This film is not a good martial arts film. My copy is called Lone Shaolin Avenger. It stars Cassanova Wong. I cannot even remember the plot as it is so bad. The only reason I gave it a 4 out of 10 is that the special effects are so hilarious. The last 20 or so minutes is where it gets humorous. The dummies used in place of people in the fight scenes are not just apparent, but blatantly obvious. It is a lousy kung fu film. But it is worth watching for its great unintentional humor.
Ngo si seoi (1998)
Great film
Looks like a television show at first. The last fight scene is reminiscent of Drunken Master 2. Except Jackie doesn't fight one guy with good kicking skills, but two! One of the best Jackie Chan films as far as the fight scenes go.
Soul in the Hole (1997)
Good film
Very good film. I thought it wasn't a film, but a documentary/film because the characters seemed to be real people. Is this a fictional movie or not? It's about basketball, the streets, lousy upbringings, and the pressures of success.
If you are a kung fu film fan, you probably have seen this film advertised on Arena video tapes in the previews and coming attractions.

Best kung movie of all time
This may be the best kung fu film of all time. Great fights, good story, and just all round too damn good! I can think of only a few films that even come close.
Shao Lin chuan ren (1982)
Nothing to do with ninjas!
It has been a while since I saw it. It's good, but nothing spectacular. I think it is a Shaw Bros. film, so the action was decent. Hoaky costumes and some crazy Shaolin monks in it. Not bad.
Ren zhe wu di (1982)
Fast paced kung fu action
For a seventies/eighties era kung fu film, its good. It has interesting costumes, weapons, and action. It is the best Shaw Bros. film I have seen so far. This film is jammed packed with fights and never has a dull moment. The only thing bad about it is some moments where the wirework was unbelievable.
Daehyeongchuldo (1982)
Gordon Liu starring with a bunch of no-talents.
This film was bad. I believe Elton (or is it Mike) Wong starred in it. Anyway it was the Wong that didn't have that goofy grin and looks meaner. He plays a man who is hit over the head and suffers brain damage. He recovers and gets revenge. Gordon Liu is the only one worth seeing in this film, but he doesn't get to do much. But what little he does seems to make the
others pale in comparison. Also, the film has some cheesy rubber hawk that the Wong guy controls. This film is not worth renting or buying.
