Perico ripiao (2003)
7/10
Better than I expected.
1 January 2004
After reading a couple of reviews in the newspapers, I just had to give "Perico Ripiao" a chance, and surprisingly enough I found it to be amusing, not the piece of crap I was expecting.

I'm not even gonna bother commenting on it's plot, it's direction, the acting ability of the main cast, etc. I've read a few people say "they acted nicely, blah blah...", but to tell you the truth, with this kind of film, you don't need good acting to make it work. Maybe a cleverly written script, but that's all.

"Perico Ripiao" only worked 'cause it's filled with jokes based on absurd situations that sometimes actually happen in real life, at least in here, Dominican Republic. Being such a small country, everyone will feel identified with at least one of the characters, even if it's just for a single moment of the film. The popular phrases and expressions make it quite fun for us to watch, as we never see them in another movie, as you might have guessed.

Still, "Perico Ripiao" has one main problem, which other dominican films have had: it would only work for dominican audiences. This film will never be internationally known... And even if someone tried to make it famous outside our boarders, the people would just not understand the film. Sure, they'd get the idea of the plot... but they would definitely not feel/understand the things only we dominicans do.

All of this only drives me to one main question... When will a dominican filmmaker attempt to make a film that doesn't rely so much on our language/jokes/culture ? Something that could be watched/understood by someone in any side of the world, something they could watch and feel the same way we do. I hope that day isn't too distant..

I never liked writing a summary, read the comment.

The War of the Roses is about certain stage on the lives of Oliver and Barbara Rose (Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner). Turner wants the divorce, and she is willing to do anything to get away with everything she wants. Douglas is the one who feels bad about it and wont let Turner get away with everything.

Danny DeVito is a friend of them. He is narrating the story too.

Through the movie you see a lot of crazy things, some laughs, in general a pretty good plot.

Seems like DeVito can direct. We all know he can act, of course. Douglas and Turner both gave great performances.

There is not much I can say in here, just that the film is mostly about all the problems Douglas and Turner go through while they divorce. Some mean things are done, some crazy stuff, some unusual stuff. It's pretty nice to see Turner playing sort of an obsessed woman. I give this film an 8 out of 10, it keeps you entertained all the time. I promise you it wont disappoint you.

Unbreakable (2000)
4/10
Extremely disappointing.
12 February 2001
After all the success "The Sixth Sense" got, director M. Night Shyamalan's started to make another film, also written and directed by himself, just like his fantastic previous film, and just to make things better, the film even had Bruce Willis in it's cast.

Just like in sequels, people always expect something bigger and better. Since most people really enjoyed The Sixth Sense, now they were positive about Unbreakable: "It'll be the best of the year 2000!". Well, I was one of those poor people who thought that, and I was amazingly disappointed.

The movie is unbelievably bad, and I'm not exaggerating here. Although the performances by Willis and Jackson were good, the script is just too poor. The subject isn't that bad, about the 'unbreakable' man and all; If it would have been written in a different story, it could have been good.

The way this movie develops the story of the 'unbreakable' man and the 'easily breakable' one and how he finds out about his powers and what he can do with them is good. Yes, it's thrilling. The only (but huge) problem is that the whole movie you expect something to happen, and nothing actually happens. You don't necessarily need to expect a twist at the end, like the one in "The Sixth Sense", but you were waiting to see something actually happening. And what happens? Nothing. Willis rescues a family, in a short scene where he kills a guy, and then nothing. Yes, nothing. Then he goes to Samuel L. Jackson's party, and there Elijah (Jackson) confesses that he killed about 500 people just to find the 'unbreakable' man, and he did. And what's next? Again, nothing. The movie ends.

Through the movie you can also see several dialogues about Jackson's comic books, and they are totally pointless, so, then again, when you ask yourself "What was it with the comic books?", you can use the word Nothing.

The movie has the same atmosphere as "The Sixth Sense", and kind of the same style, you can clearly notice it's the same director. But, as I've said, the script is very poor, which makes the movie awful.

I'll be generous and rate it with a 4 out of 10.

Bound (1996)
9/10
Great film.
20 January 2001
Many people recommended Bound, and now I know why.

Everything in this movie is great. The cast: Gina Gershon is just perfect for that role, nobody could have done it better. The Violet character must have been easier, but Jennifer Tilly did a very good job. And Joe Pantoliano as Ceasar was great too. All the acting was great.

The script was also great. Very good and original story, never seen it before. The way the movie develops is quite good, it never gets boring and something new is always happening. Through the film you get to see how all the 3 main characters think, what's going on through their minds (Gershon, Tilly and Pantoliano), and that's something you don't see a lot, at least not with more than 1 character in a the same film.

I can't say it's the best movie I've ever seen, of course, but it's a great film that I'd recommend to anyone. Truly worth watching. 9 out of 10 (being a little generous =) ..

Maybe the best film about vampires ever.
10 August 2000
As we all know, almost all the movies about vampires are all very similar: A couple of "slayers" trying to kill some bad vampires. This movie is completely different, it's not a film full of gory scenes and lots of fighting between humans and vampires. It's all about a vampire who tells his life story (the whole two hundred years he has been a vampire), and is this fact the one who made me like this movie more than any other vampires movie.

The acting was very good, with a remarkable performance by Kirsten Dunst. It makes me sad to see the lack of recognition that Dunst got. Considering she was only 11 years old when she made this film, her acting is great. Her facial movements are at all time good, and the way she said her dialogs made it look almost real. Tom Cruise got everyone's attention with his performance, even though Brad Pitt did a great job.

The make-up was fantastic (nothing is fantastic actually, but this make-up was close to it). The only think that wasn't very good was Louis' (Pitt) hair in certain scenes, and Armand's (Banderas) hair also, which, in my opinion, looked awful. Lestat's (Cruise) outfit was excellent, and his golden hair looked better than Pitt's.

The color of the eyes that both Cruise and Pitt had made them look more real, and I really enjoyed the fact that the vampires in this movie looked just like normal people, there was no way of noticing any difference, and in this film the vampires kill their victims where nobody can see them. In other films the vampires just arrive to a place where they start killing people for fun and everybody can see that (that is how the "slayers" always get there and end up killing every vampire on the scene).

The film's script was great. The idea of putting some much images from the past, and so little from the present was good.

This film breaks some of the rules in vampire movies. How did Louis killed all the vampires in Paris? Using fire? Who would have thought that was possible. Then Claudia "killed" Lestat by cutting his throat after he drank dead blood? And then Lestat "died" again burned? In old vampire films this methods didn't work.

As Armand said, Louis was a vampire with a human soul. He felt guilty after killing a human, and for a long time he was surviving by eating rats and other animals. But with Lestat's influence Louis became just a bit more aggressive, I mean, he cared less to kill a person. Lestat tried to teach Louis all he knew, I believe, and he wasn't happy after watching Louis refusing to kill humans.

I don't like the fact that Louis ended up not liking Lestat. He had a chance to help him, in 1988, but he did nothing. Well, at least at the end Lestat became the 'old' Lestat again, and he would do to Christian Slater (person who taped Louis' story) the same thing he did to Louis about 200 years earlier.

I rated this movie with a 9 out of 10, it's pretty good, and as I said, a bit different from every vampire movie.

Definitely one of the best of the eighties.
3 August 2000
When this movie was made I couldn't even read yet. I watched it for the first time, exactly 15 years after it was made, and I must admit, this movie is great.

I was going to vote for this movie, and I couldn't decide wether I'd give it a 9 or a 10, but I thought that if the vote was based on the first thought that gets to your mind just after you finish watching the movie, I'd have to rate the movie with a 10, because the first thing I said to myself after watching it, was "I liked this movie... I liked it a lot".

Sometimes it's fun for me to see actors when they were pretty young. I am used to see those actors now, in these years, but 15 years ago they looked pretty different.

All the actors and actresses, Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy and Anthony Michael Hall, were great. Each actor, pretty young by that time, gave a very convincent performance.

Not many people participate in this movie, just about 7. And the movie is always developed in the same place, the same atmosphere, but the dialogs and the discussions are awesome.

For a teenager, like me, watching this movie would be really good, because I believe you can learn something from it. And even if you are an adult, you can also learn something from it.

All those kids were in trouble for different reasons. And all had problems with their families. One of the kid's father wanted him to be number one at everything. Other father wanted his boy to get the best grades, and wont accept a bad grade. Other father gives his daughter everything. other gives his son nothing, oh, right, he gave him a pack of cigarettes for Christmas.

Kids in different social positions, get to spend a whole Saturday locked up at school. They get to know each other pretty well, after a lot of tears dropped and stories told. But along with all that, there were many laughs and everybody got out pretty happy.

And the essay they were supposed to write, which Anthony M. Hall wrote all by himself, was excellent. I simply loved it. He described everyone of those kids with just 1 simple word: An athlete, a brain, a basket case, a princess and a criminal.

This movie is really worth watching, I enjoyed it a lot and rated it with the highest rating possible.

Black and White (II) (1999)
6/10
Summaries are useless, read the comment.
24 July 2000
Warning: Spoilers
It's such a shame that Gina Gershon is so underrated. She is very talented, I noticed since I first saw her in movies where her role wasn't the primary one in the film. Her performance in "Black & White" is excellent. She should get more recognition, she is a very hard working actress. Has anyone seen her history of movies in the past decade? She participated in over 20 films in the 90's, I think that is something that should deserve credit.

Rory Cochrane gives a good performance too, and so does Ron Silver and Alison Eastwood, but the best of the best in this movie was Gershon's acting. Only a few actresses could have done such a convincent job, the character looks very real, it was great.

The movie itself has a nice script, I couldn't say it was bored or anything. It keeps the viewer interested on it all the time.

There is a very sad thing about the movie, and is it Hugs's death. Gershon's character is really unique and people get to like her, and it's very sad to know that she dies, specially when she wasn't going to kill Chris. Or was she? I didn't understand that part very well, because Chris later said: "She went there to kill Michael Clemence, who was going to kill me". So, she wanted to protect Chris, not kill him, I assumed.

It really made me sad, I didn't want Nora to die. The movie is worth watching and it gets from me a score of 7 out of 10. Maybe a 6 would have been better, but, I don't know, maybe just because Gershon is so hot, I'll give it a 7.

I'll never forget January of 1998, I watched more movies in the Theaters than any other month of my life.

I've always said that this movie is much more enjoyable if you watch it in the big screen (trust me, I've also seen it on TV). This movie has some scenes that really scare you, but not because they are actually scary scenes, but because there is this silence, and suddenly someone comes out of nowhere and says something as harmless as "Hey!", but it happens in a way makes your hear start going faster, really.

Many people say this movie is a poor attemp to duplicate Scream. I must say that I couldn't blame all the people who watched this movie at home for not liking the movie.

My mother gets scared really easy (She left the room after the first 5 minutes of Scream), and she watched this film very nicely in our 20" TV. This is the living proof. Everybody in the theaters was screaming (I mean it) in some scenes. And the end, that was the biggest of all .. I must admit that even I screamed after the "Fisherman" comes out of the glass, breaking it.

I rated this movie with a 9, which is a pretty high score. But I'm rating this movie not for it's quality, but for the enjoyment it produced on me. I know that me and many other people (mostly young ones... who watched it in theaters) enjoyed this movie a lot.

Scream (1996)
9/10
Read my comment, not the summary.
14 July 2000
Scream was an excellent movie. It did it's job very well. The purpose of the movie was to scare the viewers and it really worked fine.

This was the first movie of it's type, and after this film there have been many other movies made trying to duplicate it.

The sequel of Scream (Scream 2) was not as succesful as the first one. And the last one (Scream 3) was a total chaos.

The reason why Scream was so fantastic is, as I mentioned before, it was the first movie of it's type. No other movies like this had been made before, so nothing in the movie could be said that it was ripped off from other movie(s).

The plot isn't that good, we all know that, and neither are the performances by the actors, but the reason I'm saying that this film is so good is because it accomplished it's mission, it gave a really good time to all the people who watched it (at least all the young people), so I guess I can't complain. I really enjoyed watching the movie.

I'll rate it with a 9 out of 10. It's not really a 9 movie, it's more of like a 7 movie, but as I said, most (young) people enjoyed it a lot, it was original and the first of it's kind.

Gladiator (2000)
9/10
I am writing this, because I cannot leave the line blank. Read the comment.
2 July 2000
In the Academy Awards show, the host, Billy Crystal, claimed to be able to read people's mind and thoughts, and when Russell Crowe's face was shown in the big TV screen, Billy said something like "..I could use a cigarette.", and those who got to see Crowe's face might have noticed that he had the same facial expression as in all his films, a serious face. I personally believe that is something to admire, being so serious all the time. We don't see Russell smiling or laughing a lot, but that doesn't affect his acting skills at all.

Crowe did an excellent job as Maximus in this movie, Gladiator. The rest of the cast was very good, including Joaquin Phoenix, who surprised me with his great performance.

The plot is pretty good, I wouldn't say it's VERY entertaining, it has some very few dialogues that could be considered boring, but overall, it's a great script.

The recreation of the ancient Rome is just excellent. The architecture of the buildings and The Coliseum is just fantastic. People in charge of that deserve a lot of credit and recognition.

The movie could be considered long (over 150 minutes), and some people might find a few scenes boring, but generally the movie keeps the viewers paying attention all the time. The fight scenes were very good, people who aren't big action fans might enjoy watching this film (though it's not completely action, a little drama too).

Crowe's character in here is very interesting. It's the kind of person that expresses the kind of feelings that make you think he doesn't fear anything, he always knows what to do next and he thinks the right way. While watching the film you get to like the character.

The ending is tragic but at the same time happy. The "bad guy" dies and the "good guy" wins, but something that maybe people weren't expecting, the good guy dies too. Maximus takes revenge, killing the Caesar, and then he dies, but if you think carefully, you'll notice that he actually wanted to die, to be together with his wife and son again, in the life after death.

This was a good movie. It's not the kind of movie that really "gets into you" and causes strange feelings and such (not many movies do that), but it's a good film and certainly worth watching. I'll rate it with a 9 out of 10.

Summary is not required, check out the review.
6 June 2000
Most of the time I start my reviews with the name of the movie... well, I'm not going to write it as the very first sentence in here, but please, allow me to talk about it before anything else. The name "Eyes Wide Shut" could be interpreted in a lot (and I mean a *LOT*) of ways, I do not think it should be appropriate to write my personal opinion about this matter.

You know what? I will go straight to the point. People who are not smart could not have liked this movie. The thing is, as one of my friends said, "it's a psychological masterpiece", and intelligence is an important factor to understand this film. As other of my friends said, "Some people either understood the movie, or they didn't understand anything at all", and I agree. You can't be just thinking like "I did not got that part very well...", either you understood, or you did not.

It seems like only a small minority understood this film. Of course, not everybody who could assimilate it was supposed to like it, but most of these viewers, yes. It could be said that the first hour is a bit slow, and maybe even the word "boring" could come up when talking about the subject. When the movie starts to focus on Tom Cruise's character, there is the real stuff, that is what we all paid to watch.

Something that annoys me is the fact that I do not feel like expressing my personal opinion about this movie.

I just don't think somebody who saw it and did not understand it, could read some of the reviews made, and just get an idea, and make their on conclusion, and think that they now know everything about the film.

The movie was strange, that is, of course, undeniably. It was pretty under rated, but that was, of course, due to all the people who watched it and at the end did not have a clue about what they just had seen. They were just paying attention to the "sexual" part of the movie, which a mistake if you just want to see "nude scenes".

You should try to imagine yourself in the position of Cruise's character, and then, only then, you could get an idea of how would it feel, and you might understand the whole deal, and even the purpose of the film.

Another thing that should be understood to assimilate the idea of the whole film, is Nicole Kidman's character. By the way, now that I mention her... I think her performance could have been a bit better. All the conversations where Kidman is involved are important pieces that could help somebody understand that film.

After watching this film, I am now obsessed with this one word, a word that contains 4 letter, F, U, C and K. This word is mentioned more than just a couple of times in this film, that caught my attention. From some points of view, and in some aspects, the whole film tried to focus on that word. The film's ending was a surprise, and to be honest, I knew that Kidman's last word was going to be that one. I do not know if it's really that predictable, but I figured that out easily.

This film might cause some damage to people who did not understand it and tried to get a "message" out if it, because they could get a very wrong message.

I'm rating the movie with a 10 out of 10 score, great film, enough said.

Loverboy (1989)
This is absolutely worth watching.
24 April 2000
This movie is pretty old (1989) but it is still very nice and funny. Patrick Dempsey is fantastic, and the presence of actresses like Kristie Alley and Barbara Carreras make the movie even more interesting.

The thing is, a young teenager (are there any old ones?) has to save money to be able to pay for his studies and be together with her girlfriend. But to save the money, he will have to have sex with several women, and each one of these will give him some money.

The way he learns how to dance, the women whose husband is like the strongest man in the country, the women whose husband is a doctor, the women whose husband make little robots toys... very funny.

Plus the boy's parents think he is homosexual. And his father wants to make love to his secretary. And his mother then calls to the Pizza company, because she has found out about this "loverboy" .. But the boy sends his friend instead of him going...

It's hilarious.

As a great comedy, I'll give it a 9 out of 10... And despite it's an old movie, if I'd have the chance to see it again, I would.

I saw this a long time ago...
23 April 2000
All of my reviews are a bit extense, but since I saw this movie a very long time ago (5 years or so), I don't remember enough like to make lots of comments.

I do remember that while watching this movie I laughed several times, and I really loved.

I didn't really know Johnny Depp by then, but I remember he was hilarious. This movie is amazing, and I'm confessing to you all, if I turn my TV any day and that movie is being presented, I would take my time and watch it. :)

I recommend this to any person who has not seen it yet. Even though the movie is 15 years old, (1985) it is very, very funny.

As a good comedy, I'll give it an 8 out of 10.

Here is what I think about this movie.
22 April 2000
What in the world comes to your mind when you see a title like "The Bone Collector? I personally thought it was some guy who killed people and collected their bones. But it's nothing like that. This movie is very interesting.

Something the makers of this movie did that is different from most of the other movies of this type, is putting a woman (Angelina Jolie) to make a cop's performance, and allow me to say, she did a great job.

One of things I didn't like about this movie is watching Denzel Washington all the time in the same position, in a bed!! But good actors always make good jobs, and even though he was laying down in a bed all the time, he did a great job (as in all of his movies). Denzel is, no doubt about it, one of the best actors if his era.

The idea of making all the murders based on a book is fantastic, and the way Denzel Washington discovers that the killer is leading him (them, the police) to a book is great. It's also a little bit hard to believe that the cops (Jolie) always found a tiny piece of paper in every crime scene.

I also think they (the writters) exaggerated a little in some scenes, for example: When Washington remembers something about some company (or something like that) of the year 1910 (or something like that) .. What was he? A "Human Encyclopedia" ?? Oh well, movies are movies..

Anyway, this movie is pretty good and really worth watching. I'll give it a 9/10 score.

Instinct (1999)
8/10
Good movie, read my comment on it.
11 March 2000
I've always said Cuba Gooding, Jr. is a great actor. I think I first saw him in Outbreak, where he was playing the role of Major Salt, and in that moment I knew he had a lot of skills, and he would make some good movies. Not many people saw A Murder Of Crows, but I did, and I really enjoyed it. He's the main character in that one. We all saw Jerry McGuire, and we all know how great his performance was, and he got the best recognition an actor can get for it.

Anthony Hopkins, yet another excellent actor. After movies like The Silence Of The Lambs and a bunch of other great movies, we should expect something good if this man is acting. And with Cuba, I think one hell of a combination.

Instinct is the kind of movie that even when it's not totally realistic (A man living with gorillas for 2 years?), it has messages that are absolutely right. For example, it says that we are not Free, or we do not have Control, and that we are the Takers.

If we all think about it, we'll found out it's true. Hopkins found in the gorillas a group of things that he couldn't find in humans. The gorillas helped and defended each other. And they had a lot of peace in their territory. And when Hopkins was accepted in the gorilla group, and he started to live with them, even at nights, he was living better than in his old life.

This movie also makes you angry, because the scene where those black men kill all the gorillas, and Hopkins kills some people, it's very sad and not fare. Also some of the guards are so mean, that it makes you want to kill them.

I think the makers of the movie exaggerated a little bit about Hopkins behavior. He was acting like a gorilla, thinking like one, and attacking people like one. But after he talks to Gooding, Jr., we see that he can actually behave like a normal person.

The scene where Hopkins tapes Gooding, Jr.'s mouth and forces him to answer his question ("What have I taken from you?" "What have you lost?") it's great, and the answer is even greater. My control? No, you never had control. My freedom? No, you think you are free? My illusions? Yes, your illusions.

The movie's ending is great and happy, which makes people like it even more. Hopkins escapes from prison (He wasn't really sick after all) and returns to the place he described first when talking to Cuba.

I'll rate this movie with an 8 out of 10. I'd recommend it to anyone and it's really watching.

Nice movie, read my comment on it.
5 March 2000
"Fried Green Tomatoes" is a great name for this movie. I saw it a long (very long) time ago, but I do remember most of it.

This movie has many factors that make it excellent, one of these is Mary Stuart Masterson's performance. She definitely has talent. Also, the way Jessica Tandy narrates the whole story is fantastic.

Tandy's story is changing the life of Kathy Bates in the present (most of the movie is about the past). The ending is pretty nice and happy, showing us that Tandy was Idgie. (M. S. Masterson in the past)

The racism subject is very realistic, it shows how white people had no mercy for the black people, how they punish them, just because they were black.

It's very funny the fact that after killing that man who was hitting Idgie's friend Ruth (Mary-Louise Parker) they cook him. And the investigator tastes him, and he actually likes the food. That's where the phrase comes: "The secret is in the sauce".

Idgie's personality and strong character keeps the movie alive at some moments, along with her kindness. This movie is really beautiful and it should be seen by every movie fan alive.

I'll rate it with a 10 out of 10. Go see it as soon as you can if you haven't already.

A Beautiful American film.
26 February 2000
Very common name.. "American Beauty".. it's like.. not original at all, but still, it fits perfectly as the title of this wonderful film.

The actors. Kevin Spacey is absolutely great, we all know that. All of his movies are good (most of them), and he should win an Oscar in my opinion. Nobody could possibly played a better performance for that character than him.

All Annette Bening movies are good (except The Siege), and she showed us how great she can be in this movie.

The quiet boy who likes to film everything... This was the most weird character. It was a fantastic selection to pick him. His eyebrows makes him look so serious, and he is so disturbingly calm.. He did one hell of a job.

American Beauty is one of the most realistic films of it's era, and it will be remembered for a long time. This movie isn't just about a story that *COULD* be true, but maybe it never happened. This movie was not based on a true story, but it did represented facts that happen in real life.

All those family problems can be real, and we all know that in this same moment, as I'm writing this (or you are reading this) there are people with the same kind of problems.

I really liked the way the movie focus on every character's way of thinking and sadness. All those people in there were miserable. Even the girl who thought she was something more than the rest of the people realized that she was nobody, and started crying.

The good thing is, some of the characters find a way to become happy and forget about their sad and miserable lives. Spacey's daughter finds the "filming" boy and they seem to be really comfortable together. Spacey quits his job but is still making money, and at the end before dying, his last words were "I'm great", which means, he didn't deserve to die.

It's such a tragic way to die, he was looking at his family picture, and thinking about all the good things, of course. His wife was realizing that she was not a victim and she was on her way to talk to him.

I really liked the way Spacey handles the fact that he found his wife with the "King". And they surely did have a good time together.

This movie shocked me, a lot. I can't stop thinking about it.

One of the things that makes you feel the movie inside you, and really feel that it's getting into you, is the background music. Yes, the background music played all the time was amazing. The people in charge of that department did a great job.

The movie's ending wasn't very nice. I wasn't expecting something like that. I wanted everybody to be happy.

This movie might have a message for the people who see it, it depends on how they interpret it.

I'll personally think it's telling us to enjoy all things in life. Don't waste time. Spacey himself said he felt like he was coming out of a coma, where he was for 20 years.

I'll rate this movie with a 10 out of 10. It's great.

And remember, the only day that can be called "The first day of the rest of your life" is the day you die.

American Pie (1999)
7/10
Good comedy, read the comment I made on it.
19 February 2000
American Pie is a great comedy, in my honest opinion. I'd like to say its very realistic, since every single problem in there and situations can happen in real life, I've even had problems like that, and watching a movie like that makes you feel like you're not the only one passing through all of that stuff.

None of the actors in this movie are really great, they all did a good job, but nobody did something special.

The movie was not good because of it's actors (hell no!), it was good because of it shows things the way they are in real life. I think every single teen ager (with a normal life) would love to watch this movie.

As a comedy it was very good, it made me laugh a few times (and long laughs). But the good thing about this movie is that it's not just a comedy that makes you laugh but has no script, this movie has a very nice script that keeps you paying attention all the time, and you don't only get interested waiting for a funny part, you want to know what's going to happen with all the boys and the girls.

I enjoyed this movie a lot, and I watched it twice in the theaters. I'll rate it with a 7 out of 10. If you're a teen go watch this movie.

Nice movie, it got a nice comment from me. Read below.

The Other Sister is a good movie, I personally liked it a lot. First of all I'd like to say that Juliette Lewis did a GREAT performance and so did Giovanni Ribisi. Diane Keaton, as in all of her movies, was great. I consider her one of the best actress of her generation.

This movie's script is good, and one of the reasons is that it hasn't been done a lot. I've seen many movies about the same subject.. but this one was very Unique .. 2 people, both retarded (Not TOO retarded) met and decide to live together.

I think Juliette Lewis is a very talented actress.

The beginning is a little bit slow and might end up being bored for some people, but in general, the movie is entertaining, fun and the most important, it's worth watching.

I'll give it a 7 out of 10 score. I enjoyed it.

The Jackal (1997)
8/10
Read the comment.
25 January 2000
It's even hard to imagine how shocked I was when I saw the average voting for this movie... It might grow, or decrease in the future, but by this date it's only a poor 5.8 score.

I personally think The Jackal was one hell of a movie, and I'll do my best trying to explain why.

Many people don't agree with me, but I think Bruce Willis was great, and he did look like a cold blood killer in some of his disguises. Richard Gere also did a good performance, along with Sidney Poitier.

I think that this movie has a good script, and no matter how many negative comments it gets, it's still a great story, and these characters made it look almost real.

The way Willis (The Jackal) passes all the airports and places where he needs to go using his fake identities it's very creative and interesting. The way he gets his gun, the way he gets rid of the people after him, the way he escapes from places and the way he planned the whole murder are just amazing scenes and it's truely worth watching, and it's not, under ANY circumstances, boring.

I'll rate the movie with an 8 out of 10.

Great movie, still, no summary for it.
24 January 2000
The Sixth Sense is a good name for a movie, because people expect things like mystery or thriller in the movie, and this is exactly what this movie has.

First of all, I'd like to say that all the actors and actresses did one hell of a job, I can't complain about any of them. This might also be Bruce Willis best performance in his career... And of course, I can't finish this paragraph without mentioning Haley Joel Osment... The little boy did a great performance in that movie, and he actually gets into his character a lot, representing Cole's feelings and fears.

This movie has a touch of "something" that is a bit hard to name for me, but it surely keeps everybody paying attention every single minute, since the beginning to the end.

Then we have that amazing final... Yes sir, that final that made all of us drop our jaws and refuse to believe what we just saw.

The great thing about this movie is that everything matches, because everything the kid said about the dead people are the same things that Bruce Willis does, like: He doesn't know he is dead, he sees what he wants to see (his wife...), he can't see the other dead people... Everything was perfectly planned by the writers of this movie, and I personally think the plot is fantastic.

I'll rate this movie with a 10 out of 10, of course.

The Matrix (1999)
10/10
This movie was very good.. I even wrote a summary.
21 January 2000
"The Matrix"... That is kind of an original name. The Matrix is (besides "The world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth") one of the best movies ever, and lets say that again: EVER!

Some people say that The Matrix was not only great because of the action scenes, but please!, lets not try to fool ourselves, this movie's action scenes were probably the best ones in history.. so far at least. Of course, with this I don't mean to say that the movie's script is bad, or that it has a lack of something.

I think The Matrix deserves to be considered one of the best movies ever by reasons like this: Even the people who don't usually watch or like action films, liked this one! And why is that? Simple answer: Because the movie is simply extraordinary.

I think Keanu Reeves has had a great career, but this movie moved him to the top, he will now be remembered by everyone, along with the movie.. And his look with the black outfit and the glasses is neat.

I think Laurence Fishburne did a great performance too as Morpheus, and so did Carry Anne Moss and Agent Smith.

The story of this movie might be a bit out of reality (or completely unbelievable), but this can't stop this movie from being one of the best movies of the decade AND the whole century.

I personally have watched this movie about 5 times, and the first 2 or 3, every time I watched it, I discovered new things that I have not seen in the previews one.

Also I would like to say that this movie was very original, for example, at the beginning, it doesn't show the names of any of the actors in it. Also the sound effects were for sure the best ones I've ever heard. The sound track is very good also.

This movie deserves to be rated with the highest score possible, maybe more than any other movie in this year, and that's why I'm giving it a 10 out of 10 score.

If you have not seen The Matrix yet, don't waste your time, and see it! After all the popularity it had, you might expect something very big, but don't, please, because if you expect something that goes beyond the limits, you might not like it, after all, it's just another movie.

And remember that Unfortunately, no one can be told what The Matrix is... You have to see it for yourself.

Forrest Gump (1994)
10/10
This movie deserves a nice comment, but not a summary.
14 January 2000
The moment I saw that Tom Hanks made a movie called Forrest Gump, I knew it was about some person's life, as all movies whose names are the name of a person.

But there was something different about Forrest Gump... This shocked me a lot, it was just different than other movies, and I could not figure out why.

There is no doubt about this: Tom Hanks best performance. (In my opinion..) I think nobody could have done a better job than Hanks, because he was simply spectacular.

This movie was so good, because while watching it, you get to like Forrest, and you don't want anything bad to happen to him, and you feel good when he does something right, or when he gets good things, even by luck.

It also had a bit of comedy, which I think it was nice... (As a matter of fact, I think the little comedy parts of this movie were funnier than the whole Austin Powers movie).

Forrest Gump really got into me.. It's a feeling that is a little hard to explain.. But if you watch it carefully and paying a lot of attention you'll probably find out how good this movie is, and how real things are.. This movie could have been a true story.. After all, nobody knows if there is someone out there just like Forrest Gump.

When I finished watching this movie, I knew it would definitely win both the best Actor and best Movie awards.

This movie deserves a 10/10 score.. more than a lot of other movies that are rated higher than this.

Summaries are for the weak. Comments are powerful.
12 January 2000
Austin Powers. Austin Powers? ... I felt really sick when I saw all that reviews with summaries like:

* "Best movie I've ever seen!!!"

* "Austin Powers is the movie of the century!"

* "I've seen it 97654 times and it still makes me laugh!"

* "I loved it, I can't wait untill the sequel!!"

* Etc...

That makes me sick! Austin Powers is maybe one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my whole life, and believe me, I have seen a lot.

I laughed about twice, and I smiled another couple of times, but I am as honest as I can when I say: This movie was NOT funny at all.

Mike Myers is not that bad, he has made about 1 or 2 good movies, and he is funny, he really is, but this movie, despite all the comments saying that it's the best ever, sucked, in my opinion.

What happened to the people in this world? In the past years the good movies were definitely NOT like Austin Powers, I think this movie should be considered as one of the top 10 worst movies EVER!.

I do not have the guts to rate this movie with a 2 out of 10, I really don't, it would be against myself. I'll give it a 1/10, and I think it's a lot, I just didn't want to rate it with a 0, it looks bad (The movie looks awful, though).

Writing a summary is a waste of time, read the comment.
10 January 2000
A Murder Of Crows... I do not know about other people, but when I heard of a movie called A Murder Of Crows, I knew I needed to see it.

One of the things that I liked the most about this film, is that the name is almost perfect for it. There are movies, both good and bad, whose names have nothing to do with the movie, and it seems to be just the first thing that came into the creator of the movie's mind.

Cuba Gooding, Jr. is a great actor, I like all his films. Some sources of information said a few years ago that this person was one of the "Actors of the Future", and it was very right about that. All the movies where Gooding Jr. has participated in are good, or at least most of them, and he deserves credit for his skills.

Tom Berenger is also a good actor, not as good as Gooding Jr., but it's good.

The movie's script is excellent, the idea of the book thing... it was just perfect. The persons who wrote this movie have a very creative mind, and they did a very good job with this film, that even when it did not got all the recognition it deserved, and never got to be very popular, was great.

I'll rate it with a 8 out of 10, and that is because I have been rating a lot of movies with a 10 lately, because this movie deserves the best of the best.
