The Room (2003)
Plan 9 is Oscar worthy compared to this nonsense
I read through about 20 of the 84 reviews for this movie and I started wondering if everyone had seen the same movie as me. I saw reviews that raved about the movie but gave it a 1 out of 10. I just finished watching it on Cartoon Network of all places. The acting was horrible. None of the actors in this film were believable. The story line was complete drivel. It barely held my interest. I've had more fun watching grass grow.
At the end of the movie, just before "Johnny" shoots himself over his fiancé's betrayal, Johnny lifts a TV over his head and throws it out a window. You can easily tell that the TV is fake because Johnny acts like it weighs next to nothing. Any decent actor would at least make it look like it was heavy.
I don't understand how so many people can watch this movie and say it was one of the best films they had ever seen. Either they are stupid and retarded or they were paid good money to write fake reviews and give it a good rating.
Either way, I just wasted an hour and a half of my life that I'll never get back........I wonder if I could sue the directer for wasting my time?
Tribute (2009)
Doesn't Live Up To The Book
I have been a big fan of Nora Roberts for many years. When I hear that some of her books were being turned into movies, I was very happy. I have seen the first four movies that had the same treatment and was expecting the same quality entertainment this time around.
I was very happy with the other three movies in this set. Northern Lights, Midnight Bayou, and High Noon met and sometimes even exceeded my expectations. It was only with Tribute that they fell short. It mostly had to do with the casting of Brittany Murphy in the role of Cilla.
In the book, Cilla is assertive, active, knowledgeable about all aspects of remodeling the house and physically capable of handling any part of the remodel. Ms. Murphy manages to pull off being assertive, active, and knowledgeable but she really misses on the physical aspect. Just watching her swing a sledge hammer makes me cringe. She swings it with little force and looks as if she's going to smash her foot at any moment. I am amazed that she didn't have an accident with the sledge while filming.
All in all it was an okay movie but it's definitely my least favorite of the second four.
The Hottie & the Nottie (2008)
Desperation all around
Production companies are desperate for blockbuster films so they think to capitalize on big name talent. (Talent, HA!) So they went out and cast Paris Hilton (That's HOT! Gag me, please) in her own movie.
Production companies are so desperate for big money movies that they move the film into quick production. It's obvious that a first day earning of 9,000 dollars isn't going to make this a box office success.
I think there are just some movies that shouldn't be made no matter how frantic producers are for a hit. Other movies that come to mind are From Justin to Kelly and House of Wax. Paris Hilton shouldn't be allowed to act at all. Why kids of the US think her vapid shallow lifestyle is one to emulate I'll never know. I just pray that parents are teaching them the difference between Paris's so-called life and reality.
Impostor (2001)
Not as bad as mattymatt4ever says.
It seems to me that a person should do a little bit of research before being allowed to post their opinion. It was stated in another comment that when a movie has been delayed it is always for sure a "clunker". The main reason this movie was delayed was because it was originally filmed as a short story but got such strong reviews at various film festivals that the production company and the producers decided to make it into a full length movie. I agree with that decision.
I felt that this movie benefited by being made into a full length movie. I have read the short story by Phillip K. Dick and thought that a 30 minute film would not have done it justice.
Aside from the fact that I can name other things Gary Sinise has done besides this movie: Ransom, The Stand, CSI: New York, The Dress Code. I think he is a very good actor with a boatload of talent who chooses to work on projects that interest him and not on projects that are guaranteed to be top box office draws. I find that commendable.
This movie is one of the most thought provoking science fiction movies I have seen. I give it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
Harmful Intent (1993)
Worst book into movie I have ever seen!!!!!
When I first heard that Cook's book was going to be made into a movie, my first thought was of happiness. Mostly because this has been one of my favorite Robin Cook books of all time. But also because I honestly thought that it would follow the same plot in the book. Boy was I disappointed. Not only did they not follow the book, they rewrote the entire plot and came up with a different ending.
I must admit that I don't know what kind of budget they had but I could have made this movie better than they did. I had no problem with the cast, because the cast wasn't following the book.
I wish there were more production companies out there that would follow the original format instead of rewriting scenes, leaving out entire chapters, or changing the ending.
The War of the Roses (1989)
It may have been over acting
But anything less would have made them look foolish. This is one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. Micheal Douglas and Kathleen Turner have such a chemistry that you could give them a very bad script and bad directing and the movie would still be worthwhile to watch just because they're in it.
The Pirate Movie (1982)
One of the best movies I have ever seen
I have seen so many movies I have lost count. But the movie that sticks the most in my mind is this one. Not only because it is hilarious, but because I wanted to be Mabel when I was younger. She had a sense of herself, like she knew what she wanted to be and who she wanted to marry. Mabel is definitely a person a young woman can look up to as she grows into adulthood. Fredric was like the ultimate dream guy when I was a child, I wanted to have a guy like him throw away a boat full of half naked chicks to be with me. And the pirate king was the perfect bad guy. Smooth and confidant and possibly one of the best, worst bad guys of all times.
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
It was not very scary
I read a review in this site that said people these days don't know a real scary movie because of desensitization from horror movies with mind-blowing special effects. Perhaps that is true a majority of the population has become desensitized from the more modern horror movies. A movie like this, if it was based on real life, would have been better film, ESPECIALLY, if you have a film student in your group. The camera work would have been steadier. But if it is terror that you seek this is not the movie to watch. I would recommend the original Psycho or some early Boris Karloff. This movie was totally terrible I could only sit through it once and I will never sit through one like it again. Perhaps the movie "Blink" is more you style with the thriller plot and romantic ending.
Much Ado About Nothing (1993)
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
The first time I saw this movie was because it had Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh in it. The second time I watched this movies was because I wanted to check something out in a scene. The third time I watched this movie was because I had gone out and bought it and couldn't stop watching it. It just gets funnier and funnier every time I watch it. I went out and bought the book after about the 37th time I watched it and it follows Shakespeare's play almost to the letter. It is the funniest movie I have ever seen. And I have seen a lot. Just ask me
