The Count (1971)
10/10
An excellent comedy about the most famous Finnish playboy!
24 February 2001
"Kreivi" aka the Count plays himself in this amazingly fresh combination of documentary and acting. According to his own memoirs Kreivi had been engaged 76 times but never actually got married. The movie presents stories of four typical female victims combined with original material from gigs of this singing imposter. The acting is campy but so was the person in the real life also. His expressions make you laugh, but his actions have also a deeper level: Any man who has the insolence to present himself with a status respectable enough, could fool masses of people, especially women disappointed to their everyday life. At the end of the movie you find yourself amusingly wondering, what could actually have happened and what's been made up for the movie. A great comedy with lots of superb Finnish music!
