How the West Was Won (1962)
DVD restoration desperately needed
This is one of the greatest westerns ever made, the other comments verify that, but it's a crime, that in this age of digital photographic manipulation, this movie's quality is so below par because of Cinerama's split screens. The unsightly dividing lines, and poorly matching tints between screen partitions, totally ruin this great, great historical movie. Do NOT buy the DVD until it has been digitally repaired.
Shake, Rattle and Roll: An American Love Story (1999)
If this movie gets released on DVD, I'll buy a DVD player.
Superior old-fashioned entertainment; all story with no unnecessary filler. Very refreshing for this era. Bonnie Sommerville was outstanding; her facial eloquences expressing all the feelings from joy and happiness, to pain and sorrow, were absolutely wonderful. She made the movie story seem believable. The new music in the film, shows that great tunes with harmony, substance, melody, and excitement can still be written and performed.
