The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
So powerful
I love the entire series, but especially episode 6 really hit the mark! A lot of people complain about it being politically charged, but to me that made the show more real.
Mackie was awesome and heartfelt. I really enjoyed it.
Off Screen (2005)
Better than currently rated
I had high expectations of this movie, everybody in The Netherlands was shocked when they heard the news that a man took a building and the people in it hostage. Sometimes the movie is quite confusing you do not always know what is real, at the end it becomes clear. Probably the reason why the rating is so low. But it tells the story about the man who takes people hostage and how he comes to his act and justifies it. I think they did a great job in trying to tell the story behind this man. You even start feeling for this guy. I gave it a 7 out of 10. Go see it, it is worth it. Jeroen Krabbé was good as ever and I also liked Jan Decleir. Both are very good and experienced actors. Definitely no waste of time.
Gothika (2003)
Underrated horror/thriller movie
I do not understand why this movie has an average of 5.5! That is really underrated. This is one of the few horror/thriller movies I actually like. All the scream movies and related crap has probably clouded peoples minds about what a real horror/thriller movie should be like.
The story may not be very original, but they used is it well and it worked for me. It is also peculiar that females rate this movie 0.9 points higher on average. Probably because they were more able to go with the story than most males.
I think an average of 6.8-6.9 comes closer to the actual quality of this movie. Normally my voting is not that far of the IMDB average, but this time I can only say: Go watch the movie yourself!
De tweeling (2002)
A beautiful and touching WWII drama
It's a Dutch movie about (German) twin sisters being taken apart from each other by their families. One grows up in The Netherlands and one in Nazi Germany. I won't tell anymore than that, only that you really need to see this masterpiece.
It's a beautiful and touching WWII drama, which gives a different perspective on this terrible part of history.
Halloween (1978)
Maybe it used to be good...
Maybe it used to be good, but nowadays this movie is really boring! Nothing scary, the script is really thin and the acting isn't Oscar material at all. The basics for a horror are there, but it takes a lot more to scare people in the 21st century.
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Just entertaining, not more
To be honest Episode I was a lot better. Although Ewan McGregor (Obi Wan) has grown in his role, Hayden Christensen (Anakin) was a terrible actor. He did not have any basic acting skills at all. Secondly somehow Yoda speaks in lesser cryptic way than in the old Star Wars. The movie was entertaining, but not more than that!
***SPOILER FROM HERE ON*** Especially the 'romantic Sound of Music' scene was really a mistake, the SFX were terrible, the acting was really bad and it did not fit into this movie at all. To much romancing in my opinion.
Although the fight between Yoda and Count Dooku was very good, I still don't like the way they designed Yoda. In old Star Wars, where Yoda was a puppet, he looked a lot more realistic.
The big attack of the clones is pretty neat, but sometimes blowing up miniatures is still more realistic. I think George Lucas should either have reached the same realism as in Final Fantasy or he should have used older techniques like miniatures to make it more believable.

Moulin Rouge! (2001)
The best movie of the year!!
Before I saw the movie I read about it in a magazine. The writer said it was the best movie of the year and that all the Oscars where already been taken for this movie. It will not receive all the Oscars, but at least the most important ones like best actor and actress, best movie, best music, best script etc. I really enjoyed watching this movie and I'm sure I will see it a few times more in the cinema. It is a fairy tail situated in Paris around 1900, it tells it feels like it tells the story of Freddy Mercury in a different body (Nicole Kidman)and in a different place and time. But in the end it only tells a story about LOVE (how stereotype this sound, that's what it really is about). This is the second movie I will reward with a 10. The first was The Matrix. I'm anxious to see this movie become a musical on Broadway in on other stages. Just see it and judge yourself.
Scream 3 (2000)
Even a 'One' is way too much credit for this movie.
First I have to say I never saw part I and II of Scream. That was one of the reasons to find out whether or not the movie was any good.
The movie started and it was immediately clear there was no story line at all. Scream 3 referred too much to the previous two parts. The script is flawed, for instance: After 3 murders, a girl says "two people are already dead"! In combination with lousy acting, I have to conclude: Even a 'One' is way too much credit for this movie. If there would be a prize for worst movie ever, they would not even consider Scream 3, for it's ghastly. There should be a severe penalty (think in the category of death) for making such a movie. It was a waste of my money, I should sue Wes Craven.
The Matrix (1999)
The best I have seen yet.
I have watched The Matrix 5 times in different cinemas, but in the THX featured cinema, The Matrix was at it's best. The Matrix features action, sci-fi, suspense and a good story in one, which is very rare. I never looked at Keanu Reeves as a great actor but he was perfect in his role as Neo. Not only was the acting great, all SFX were superb, like I never have seen before. The Phantom Menace has also great SFX but it's just a fairy tale, with no real story. When I walked out the cinema the first time, the first thing I did was look around....... The fact that the world as we know it is just sophisticated kind of virtual reality and nothing more. I know one thing for sure, the first DVD-disc I buy will be the one of The Matrix. I really want to see the making-of. And I already can't wait till The Matrix 2 will be in the cinemas.
