Moonlight Mile (2002)
Charming and engaging, NOT for weak-minded action nuts.
This movie was a surprise to me. Tuned it in on HBO and enjoyed the entire movie, laughing out loud at several surprise parts. The characters run the gamut of emotions, and those who did not enjoy this movie never took the time to gauge the feelings of the characters involved. Ellen Pompeo's character is fabulous, Dustin Hoffman's whole demeanor shows a father's grief, but in his own way.
I highly recommend this movie to those who take a little time to read the characters, and who don't expect the director and writer to spell it all out for them.
Enjoy!
The Chase (1994)
A parody, not meant to be taken seriously, you poor "critics"!
Of course it's cheesy, it's supposed to be! It's parody, not an "action" flick! If you expected a Steven Seagal movie, you should have gone to one! Those of us who appreciate the nature of satire and parody can find it everywhere in this movie! Any one who has lived in California has seen several elements of this chase on their own televisions, LIVE!
The names of the characters are great, (Cary Elwes as Steve Horsegroovy, Ron Jeremy as a camera man, Bree Walker, an L.A. anchorwoman, playing an anchorwoman, and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers playing a redneck moron named Will) and their roles are exaggerated, as they should be in a spoof. If you just don't get it, don't waste your time watching it! And please stop crying about it. Lighten up!
Sling Blade (1996)
Warm, funny, sad, but excellent movie.
People who have never allowed themselves to truly FEEL have missed the full experience of this movie, and would probably consider it boring. I found myself liking poor Karl and wishing I could have been his friend, also. He never showed any self-pity for his situation and really believed that he only had one route he could take to relieve the pain and suffering that his friend and his friend's mother were experiencing. He prevented the abusive and deadly future that they would most surely have experienced, and gave them back their lives. His method was drastic, but SURE! Thanks, Billy Bob for the wonderful character portrayal of Karl Childers.
