Masterpiece Film Making at its Best
13 December 2000
I saw Battlefield Earth 6 times at the theaters. and I was tatally blown away by it. Not since Independence Day and Starship Troopers had a film been this good. I've read some of the bad reviews and dont know what movie they saw. but they missed the entire point. in the first few moment of the movie the chief in the village is explaining how man's greed lead to his defeat by the psyclos. over the next 2 hour you watch as Terl(John Travolta) and his associates become greedy and train humans to do work so they can steal gold without their company knowing about it. and the humans use their new found intellect to revolt against the psyclos. In other words the greed of the psyclos led to thier destruction. and Terl ends up inprisoned in a prison made out of gold. the whole thing is poetic. the action sequences have plenty of razzle-dazzle eye candy. i was shocked this film didn't do better than it did at the box offce. this movie was based on one of the most popular books of our generation, ranking right up their with Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol, and Bram Stoker's "Dracula" or Edger Rice Burough's "Tarzan". this is a timeless classic novel. and it made a fantastic movie

a pathetic movie
12 December 2000
this is a pathetic film. for children unfortunately watched by adults who refuse to grow up. first off it starts with the viewer watching a battle in space. you start in the middle of a battle in which you dont know whats going on. you watch as two robots wonder around a gun fire and never get hit. the ship is being seized by an empire that is made up of the worst marksmen in history. this movie is just a revemped version of the old knight in shining armor going to rescue his damsel in distress. unfurnatly the only one in distress is the viewer. then you are introduced to a boy named luke who gets chased around a desert by guys wearing brown paper gowns called "sand people" who they them selves get chased off by an old man who make noises with his nostrils. he rescues luke and decides it is a great idea to go into space and take on the empire on their own.(he must have known how bad thier marksman skills were) they hire a smuggler and a walking carpet that never stops growling to take them into space. do i have to say more. this is an insult to my intelegence. i recommend watching a good sci-fi flick like Battlefield Earth,Dune or Waterworld

Nick Fury: Agent of Shield (1998 TV Movie)
OOH!WHAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN
26 June 2000
I saw previews for this on the FOX network during a Football game. It looked like it was going to be nothing short of AWESOME.....but we all know previews can be misleading, and these were. I remember i had to work the night this came on,so i set my good 'ol trusty VCR to tape it for me so I could see it at a later time. I finally got to see it about a week later. I should have known better.....this type of charactor,(a Roughneck, hard nosed, true bad ass agent)in a made for T.V. "G" rated family movie of the week.....I should have known better because those 2 concepts do not go hand in hand...but for some reason i was expecting this to be great. What i got was a week story, with silly confrontations with Nick Fury's supperiors that drag on(almost like some one was writing them just to take up space in the 2hr time slot that it had to fill). When you meet Nick Fury,he has retired to an abandoned mine some where in the wilderness of South Western Canada. He is recruited to rejoined the post modern agency of shield(although he doesnt want to).they fly him to an floating air fortress in the sky...there you learn that the poeple running the S.H.E.I.L.D. agency doesn't want him back.leading him to a series of confrontations with his supperiors-thats my definition of silly. If they didn't want him there-why did they track him down and reinstate him? DUH?? Then he gets infected by a virus that is described as worst than ebola, and he has only 48 hours to live unless he can get the antibody for it from a terrorist.-some how this massive virus manages to never slow him down as he goes on a revenge run against a bunch of nazi wanna bes. you keep waiting for some good action scenes ...and they never happen,(and what action you get is quickly done, too little ,and way too late in the movie)in fact all the action in this movie takes place in the last 5 mins.you watch him spend this rest of the movie watching him argue and fuss with his supperiors who are running the mission. I dont blame the actors...actually i think david did a great job as Nick Fury. all the actors played thier parts well.and the speacial effects were better than average(excellent by t.v. standards). Its just that this type of storyline and charactors need to be in a real movie where the special effects and the action can take center stage, and blow the viewer away with stunts and visuals. but as a tv movie you have to keep the violence at a minimal, and stay with the alotted budget for special effects.so what you get is a combination of never endeing actionless chase scenes, and Nick Fury fussing with his boss for 2 hours. its only worth watching for the babes.

Megaforce (1982)
GENERIC G.I.JOE VS GENERIC COBRA
26 June 2000
I seen this film when i was about 13years old,and i loved it. unfortunately,i saw it on HBO and saw it at a friends house, and the movie already started when we began to watch it,so we missed the opening credits.(hence) I never knew the name of this film until 1995,when i got to see it again on Joe Bob's monster vision or something like that on TNT. I remember i loved it as a 13 year old- and me and all my 12 and 13 year old buddies marveled at all the fancy vehicles and suepped up motorcycles.to a room full of 13 year olds this movie was the coolest thing ever.I looked and looked for this movie for years -but no rental had it,and i didnt know the name of it. as an adult it did absolutely nothing for me.the plot is cartoonish. the lead charactor is totally shallow and weak.AS you watch it you get the feeling that someone wanted to make a live action G.I.JOE movie but couldnt afford the rights to the name,so they cloned it...(the lead charactor even looks like the 1980's G.I.JOE lead charactor, with a spandex jumpsuit, and a blonde beard and all) This film has a made for T.V. feel to it(although its not). i wondered as i watched this agian if this was meant to be a T.V. pilot-that was canned and released as a film. You know-the kind where the villian gets away, and everyone has a big laugh at the end as they ponder what the villian might try next, while smiling and taking pride in themselves because of how easy they were able to stop him this time.Even the theme music has the same feel as T.V.shows from that era(the A-team/Knight Rider)-however,Legendary KISS guitarist Ace Frehley did steal the "like a megaforce" theme song and released it as an original tune called "calling to you" on his 1986 Frehley's Comet solo album(just an f.y.i.). this film is rubbish, its only worth watching for the cool vehicles and motorcycles. but even they cant save they cartoonish plot, cartoonish heroes, and cartoonish villian.it is a GENERIC G.I.JOE VS GENERIC COBRA. however it will entertain the devil out of a room full of 13 year olds.

the abyss meets apollo13
16 March 2000
i was delighted by this film, although i expected a little more action.the special effects are first rate. however if you've seen the abyss and apollo13 then you've already seen this film.it is a perfect marriage between the abyss and apollo13,but it is a marriage that works. in fact it is the best film i've seen this year so far.i recommend it,but be forewarned that it moves at a very slow pace...but not too slow

watch it again for the first time
16 March 2000
for over 20 years poeple have slammed BSG for not being as good as star wars.......excuse me? but sci fi series is. QUIT SLAMMING IT AND WATCH IT AGAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME.what you'll discover is a wonderful tale about tragedy, exodus, survival, conflict, strategy, and even romance.you'll find a group of people who are forced to draw a line in the stars and fight back when all odds are agianst them . the story is actually better than star wars. and maybe even better acted than star wars. what it fails to do is capture your immagination the way star wars did. the specail effects hold up even by todays standard. i'm going out on a limb to say that the 2 1/2 hour pilot movie is arguably the best space opera ever behind the star wars trilogy.if you love great looking space battles, good special effects, and a great story. this film is a must see.you owe it to yourself to own a copy of this movie. it is a classic treat your gonna wanna see over and over and over...and just like star wars you'll never get tired of it
