Interrupted Melody (1955)
Inspiring true story of Marjorie Lawrence
Eleanor Parker brings her usual elegance and intensity to the portrayal of Australian Opera Diva, Marjorie Lawrence. Glenn Ford is her supportive, yet human, husband; their love story is not your standard schmaltzy Hollywood fare. If you like opera, you'll enjoy this film as it includes scenes from many great soprano roles - especially Wagnerian, not just Puccini/Verdi as you usually see in movies - although those are there, too.
This is a great 'Sunday afternoon with a cup of tea' film that will make you feel good.
Chronos 5.0 (1993)
Entertaining and well acted despite being low budget
An interesting twist on a popular theme, Chronos 5.0 is the story of a private detective who uses the advantages of time- travel to help solve cases. Koli Cutler is charming and charismatic as the PI who finds himself simultaneously solving a case and on trial for a murder he didn't commit. Time-travel paradoxes and some imaginative writing make this an entertaining film that would have had real potential with a bigger budget and better FX.
