Chuck Finn (1999)
cute show, enjoyable and fun
Chuck Finn is a cute show that deals with a bunch of young adolescents and their fight to keep their boat, and stay out of trouble which often arises due to two ghosts which spend their time playing cards.
The cast is great, the ideas stick, the character analysis is gorgeous. Luke O'loughlin is very good as the charismatic Chuck Finn, who battles endlessly to beat the hard hitting Sarah McDonald (played flawlessly by Cassandra Kane). The ghosts are funny, wacky and enjoyable. The other three kids are fabulous too, which makes the whole show one enjoyable adventure. Possibly one of the best shows to come out of Australia, Chuck Finn is a great show, which I would gladly recommend to anyone, of any age.
The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996)
Barbra made another great hit again
Well, after watching The Mirror Has Two Faces, I felt that I had to comment on it. I know that the film didn't do so great at the boxoffice, but I still believe that the film encaptures a very significant point: that being a lesson about beauty and vanity. The film portrays a woman who has waited all of her life for Mr Right - until she finally realises that to wait for it isn't enough - she has to seek it aswell. Lauren bacall is brilliantly cast as Barbra's mother - a woman who has been beautiful all of her life, and Jeff Bridges is great as a man who looks for something deeper than sexual attraction. I thought that the film had a hidden message which is evident in the way the story develops. I enjoyed the film, which encompassed dry patches of homour, but still maintained emotion and drama within the story. I thought that the film was well cast, and that the chemistry between Jeff Bridges and barbra Streisand was apparent - even though the script required them to feel uncomfortable around each other. At the end of the film, the movie has defined itself as a romantic comedy which should remain timeless, and be a lesson to us all.
