I'm a huge fan of Krasinski and was very curious about IF especially with such a phenomenal cast and voices.
Unfortunately the first 30 mins is extremely poorly executed with lots of plot holes that are not properly explained so the father figure and little girl are explained in the 3rd act but it's too little too late.
For example the Ryan Reynolds character is not explained so you are not sure if he is real or imaginary plus the little girl goes from suddenly being a grown up 12 year old to doing a 180 for no good reason once she arrives to Retirement home for IFs. Tbese 2 major flaws in plot holes create a lack of connection ruin in this brilliant concept that only by the 3rd act it comes together and starts to make sense yet is is unfortunately poor wiring that easily could have been fixed with another draft but it's still enjoyable even if a rough confusing ride.
Very curious if any kids felt a connection since lots of adult themes and the fairy tale slants are sporadic so most in the audience were almost asleep or bored yet for us adults the 3rd act was magical concept of reconnecting the Inner Child / Imaginary Friend with the adult was phenomenal.
Go in with low expectations and maybe you'll like it
5 stars for concept and cast.
