Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part I (2022)
meh
Sweet, a show about Obi-Wan. Jk we're gonna make it about what life was like for Leia growing up. Seriously don't care. Having a cutesy-wutsey kid with a privileged upbringing be part of the focus cost this rating a few stars.
Ewan is great, as usual though.
Halo: Inheritance (2022)
Unfortunately a necessary episode
With a bit of a floundering start, I didn't have high expectations for this show. But it's grown on me, I like most of the cast and for the most part it looks good. Unfortunately due to the janky first couple of episodes it feels like they had to shoehorn an episode to show how the character Kwan fits into the bigger story. When the thread should've been woven in throughout the season. I like Kwan, she helps bring a helpless normal human perspective to a world of modified super humans, aliens, and military forces. Sadly to dedicate an entire episode to her character just so you can show that she's connected to the AI that runs Halo was a sloppy move.
So far it was the weakest episode, but sadly a necessary one to connect characters for the finale likely. Certainly not deserving of the abysmal score it was mantled with, but what can you do?
Splendor (1999)
Regurgitated and unoriginal
I watched this film because it was highly recommended. Needless to say I found it to be nothing more than an directionless version of Threesome right down to using New Order's - Bizarre Love Triangle in the movie. I thought it was biased towards men and felt it barely scraped the surface of any semblance of human emotion. Obviously this was directed by Gregg Araki... If this film bespeaks the future of relationships, I think I'll go for celibacy.
Eye of the Beholder (1999)
Stylish, modern, excellent
I don't have much to say about this film, but I can say that it was like a breath of fresh air in a genre of pseudo thought provoking movies. Highly visual, stylish, and modern... The soundtrack work with the film and not just worked as background noise. Ewan further proves himself to be an accomplished actor, and Judd was very convincing as well. A beautiful and tragic love story which takes the form of obsession yet doesn't instantly don the cloak of perversity. A definite must see.
