A Southern Maid (1934)
Bebe has Attitude!
This movie is one of the best of the talkies that I have seen with Bebe Daniels! She was witty, beautiful and her songs were well done! I also liked her leading man! They were just so great together! Bebe's dual role was refreshing, and the way in which her character "Delores" interacted with her overbearing father is the most charming and delightful series of scenes I have ever seen! She had "attitude" all throughout the movie! I highly recommend this movie. It leaves you with a very warm feeling! I have watched it 5 times already! Thank you, and take care!!!
42nd Street (1933)
Bebe Daniels was my Great Great Aunt!!!
I was wondering if anyone has any comments on Bebe's performance in this movie? I may be overstepping posting a comment here as I have not had the pleasure of seeing this particular movie, but I have seen some of the other (Many) films that Bebe Daniels made and I think she was wonderful! Although I may be a little biased since she was a relative of mine! Could someone please correspond with me on this subject, and also, how can I find out when 42nd Street will be airing again? Thank you so much and please excuse the fact that I have not seen this movie. I would love to see it! Thanks!
Dixiana (1930)
Way ahead of it's time!
This was the first movie I purchased with Bebe Daniels! It is pretty good considering when it was made! The jokes never stop and the inuendos are way ahead of their time! I was totally amused with the interaction between the prospective groom's father and stepmother in this film! As I said earlier, the double entendres were plentiful in that relationship! The comedy team of Wheeler and Woolsey were just downright hilarious and the tapdance sequence in technicolor (Bill Robinson, "Bojangles") was absolutely wonderful! Such a rare opportunity to see something like that! The Mardi Gras finale is also rare as it was cut from TV prints for a long time! That is in technicolor also! I ordered the DVD, so if anyone is interested, please email me and I can tell you where to find it online for a very reasonable price!
Why Change Your Wife? (1920)
Great Silent Classic!
I bought this film because Bebe Daniels is in it. I may be a little biased since Bebe was my grandfather's aunt, but I think the movie is terrific. The story is so true to life even today! It has a great message and the written narration is so "deep" for the lack of a better word. I was actually more impressed with Gloria Swanson in this particular film though! She was great! She actually "made" the movie! Bebe's part as a vamp was really good too though! She was the perfect one to play this part! I am not gonna give anything away, just order it and watch it for yourself! My husband and I enjoyed it so much! I must confess I ordered all the Bebe movies I could find because there is a definate family resemblance between she and I! But out of my strange interest in this aspect, I actually ended up finding so much more! I love the Silent Classics and discovered Gloria Swanson in the process! Thank you and take care!!!
