Embarking on a Voyage: The Making of an Alien Dance Rock Opera (2022)
Any way to stream this?
Just watched the movie. How have I not heard of it before. It's very ambitious and seems like it should have found a wider cult audience. Now I want to see the documentary but it doesn't look like's available anywhere. If anyone knows how to watch, please.

Hellhole (1985)
Head For The Mountains...Bush
Shower scene. It's a jungle out there. This is a pretty decent lesbian prison flick. Lots of T&A and better than expected acting. Very similar to Reform School Girls but better. (and no dreadful acting from Wendy O. Williams). It's always nice to see Judy Landers too. A young Robert Z'dar looks almost normal in this movie making me wonder if he had work done to make himself look more like an interesting movie character. Can't write a review without mentioning Mary Woronov. Definitely not her best outing but nothing to be ashamed of either. Movies like this make you miss the 80's but there are better offerings in the genre.
New York Doll (2005)
Excellent portrayal of living in obscurity after Fame. And 2nd chances
I was lucky enough to catch this movie as part of the Talk Cinema series at The Bridge Cinema De Lux in Los Angeles. I am certain I never would have gone to see this movie if it weren't part of the program and I was even cynical for the first 15 minutes or so. But once you see Arthur Kane and hear him speak you quickly become drawn to him. He is such a quiet, mild-mannered guy of few words but what he does say is usually profound. You are rooting for him from the start even though it seems that the best of his years ended over 2 decades ago. It is interesting to see Arthur's relationship with the Mormon church as result of what appears to be a very sad, drug-addicted life. He finds new purpose in the church and a new job helps suppress some old demons. The director, Greg Whitely, is smart not to make this a Mormon propaganda piece but adding that aspect of Arthur's life makes him come across as a normal guy who just happened to come into fame as a young man and come into a spiritual awakening as an older man. There was a Q&A with the director and producer after the movie and their passion for their subject is obvious and it comes across in the film. Arthur is such a tremendously likable man and even though you may not like rock music, or care about the 70's punk scene (Many of those in attendance admitted they thought that they would not like this movie)you come to care about him and the chance of him possibly tasting fame just one more time. This is an excellent documentary and unlike a lot of Michael Moore films and Moore knock-offs, you never feel a heavy hand pushing the film to make you feel one way or another. The story unravels and it is genuinely compelling. This will likely be in extremely limited release in NY and LA with hopes of making a run for Best Doc Oscar and DVD sales...but do yourself a favor and seek out this film.
Freddy vs. Jason (2003)
The better man was victorious
Don't read this if you don't want to know the outcome. I was surprised that the movie was actually okay. It did justice to both Freddy and Jason. As usual, the human characters are a total bore and it's joyful when they finally get their due. Loved the way Kelly Rowlands bit the dust. I was disappointed that Kane Hodder wasn't back for this one, I heard they were looking for a different body type. This Jason has more neck and isn't as stocky. (More hair too). Freddy's makeup is kind of lame. It's beginning to resemble a one-piece pullover mask that you can buy at a costume shop on Hollywood Blvd. A lot of blood spraying around. But it was obviously red water being spouted through behind-the-scenes tubes. It was cool how Freddy disguised himself as Jason's mom to lure Jason to Elm St. but where was Betsy Palmer the original Pamela Voorhees? Maybe she's dead. It wasn't scary like some of the other Friday the 13ths were....like parts 1, 2 and 4...maybe even 6 or Nightmare 1 but what horror movies these days are scary? Showing the little girl at the beginning about to get slaughtered by a giggling Freddy was disturbing as was the scene of the little girl with no eyes...just bloody sockets. At the end, man, they were hacking each other. Freddy going to town with his claws. But leave it to Jason to have the last laugh. The final shot of Jason coming out of the water so reminded me of Godzilla emerging from the ocean to wreak havoc. And he was holding Freddy's severed head. Yes! Jason is the man. I still have bad dreams with Jason in them as recently as 2 weeks ago. Ever since I saw the first movies on video back in the early 80's Jason has infiltrated my dreams....never Freddy who is supposed to be the master of dreams. I saw parts 4 through 8 or 9 on opening night because those crowds are the best. Jason X was just pure garbage as was 9, 8, 7 and 5. Nightmare 1 was awesome 3 was okay and the rest were rubbish. I'm getting off the point. the important thing is that Jason whipped Freddy's ass old-school style. Justice has been served.
