Chimpanzee (2011)
5/10
The plot summary is misleading
22 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
In general, I loved the movie. The only major mistake made was in the plot summary on the main page of this listing.

According to the summary, the chimp is abandoned by the tribe. That is wrong.

The chimp's mother dies & the chimp doesn't know about it.

That's why I only give the film a 5. A misleading piece of information could give a potential viewer a false assumption.

Tim Allen does an excellent job of narration. For people who may treat the movie like BAMBI or THE LION KING, Allen's narration provides just the right lightness in tone to offset the darker aspects of the story.

The movie is not complete.
15 September 2008
Warning: Spoilers
According to the synopsis, this is an edited down version of FLASH GORDON CONQUERS THE UNIVERSE.

That is right and wrong. It is right with the "edited down" part.

If my copy on the 50-movie pack "Nightmare Worlds" is correct, It fails to note that it is only the edited down version of the first 6 chapters.

You don't see what happens to Ming.

In other comments on the internet it says that the title of the serial is only explained in the final chapter, which, of course is not a part of this movie.

This movie doesn't solve any problems. It just....ENDS.

Adventures of Superman (1952–1958)
Great introduction, Sci-Fi classic
6 August 2002
"The Adventures of Superman" Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. "Look, up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane, it's Superman." Strange visitor from another planet who came to earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men

Superman, who can change the course of mighty rivers bend steel with his bare hands and who, disguised as Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper, fights a never-ending battle for Truth, Justice and the American Way.

You just can't get much better than that

In a book about the greatest science fiction shows of all time, Superman was a write-in vote and got in the top 25.

gruesome

I have always been a big fan of movies that has shown such gruesome situations as dismemberment and bloodshed. This movie started it all with the beheading of Mary. No blood was shed even though I love chocolate (the early special effect for blood was chocolate sauce). It was also a very nice piece of history rendered by the movie industry.

I first saw this short when it was incorporated into the independent film, THE CELLULOID CLOSET. It was a film that dealt with the way the film industry handled the situation of homosexuality over the years. This short was the first thing they showed. I thought that that was appropriate since it showed two men dancing in each others arms. I'm not gay myself, but I thoroughly enjoyed this film (CELLULOID CLOSET) as it gave me a fairly new insight in the world of homosexuality.

a tongue-in-cheek reaction to a short
19 January 2001
I have seen this film numerous times in documentaries about the history of the silent film. I have always loved the history of the silent film and this is undoubtedly the seed from which some of the great comedies of our time have been based. I feel sneezing (nowadays) has become an overdone gimmick in comedies and this film started it even though I laughed at it. My final word on this film is this, IT BLEW ME AWAY!!! (HA HA)
