Little Boy Blue (1997)

Dark, Disturbing, & Strangely Haunting

If you're in the mood for lighthearted escapism you've got the wrong flick. If on the other hand you'd like to be entertained with a great dark/disturbing story with plot twists that are done in very original ways, "Little Boy Blue" will more than satisfy!

Everyone in this picture did a superb job and I do mean everyone, writers, directors, music, lighting, sets, etc. Ryan Phillippe does more than hold his own in this dark tale in fact he shines!

This is a disturbingly haunting movie that I've watched several times, and I don't do that often. So, if you like your entertainment on the gritty side of reality snag this one for your library.

Xanadu (1980)

Olivia's Always Magic

True it wasn't the best movie ever made but it had it's moments and good points. Olivia and Gene in the 40's song and dance sequence was great. The battle of the 'modern' Tubes and the 1940's band was fantastic and I loved the way they meshed in the end, very original and artistic. The animated scene when Kira and Sonny were transformed into cartoons was a nice touch. The finale with Olivia and the muses dancing and singing at the finished Xanadu was fun. As for the good points Olivia's muse costume was great, as were her finale costumes. I love the soundtrack, ELO and ONJ, great match! If you're an Oliva fan you'll want to see it. Sorry this is just one of those movies that's a guilty pleasure for me!
