School of Rock (2003)
Great for pre-teen and teen audiences, fun for adults
The School of Rock features a lot of great rock music and an energetic and at times over-the-top performance by Jack Black.
Younger audiences ought to really enjoy the way the group of proper children rebel against the overbearing academic curriculm and learn to embrace some of the rock 'n roll spirit.
Adults will most likely enjoy the hard rocking soundtrack and the way the movie exposes their children to the music they grew up on.
There are some awfully funny scenes, some utter ridiculousness, and some great songs. As a college student this movie is definitely not geared toward my demographic, but I founded it suprisingly endearing.

Hulk (2003)
This movie sucked
Very rarely do I find myself at the movie theater looking at my watch, desparately wanting to leave but that's what happened when I went to see Hulk.
This film is way too long, there's not enough smashing, and the story was boring and uninvolving. There really isn't much you can do with this concept in the first place. The guy gets mad and then destroys stuff. He's not a hero so I can hardly root for him. Ang Lee really worked the father/son/repressed childhood memories angle. I never really bought into it. They shouldn't have tried so hard to make it a movie about something and just given us all the popcorn movie we wanted.
What a waste of time. I honestly think that if I hadn't been there with friends I would have left before it ended.
Memento (2000)
does something most movies can't...keeps you thinking
This movie is so original and thought provoking it has become an instant favorite of mine. It will definitely require multiple viewings to piece it together. However, unlike "The Lost Highway", this one can actually make sense. Throughout the course of the movie I found myself fully immersed in this tormented man's world, trying to figure things out along with him, as if I was suffering from memory loss. They let you see just enough to understand, but not enough to make it obvious. Not only is this movie thought provoking and intelligent, it is quite funny, bordering on hilarious at times. The possibilites for humor are endless when a person on a manhunt has short term memory loss. Put it all together and you have an incredible movie, a definite 10.
High Fidelity (2000)
I gues I just don't get it...
Everyone seems to really like this movie, not me. My main problem with the movie is that the John Cusack character is entirely unlikeable but at the same time not so bad that I hate him. This left me unsure of how to feel about the characters and events of the film. From one point of view the Cusack character is immature and pitiful, from another he is just down right rotten, this left me kind of unsure how to feel. Another thing worth mentioning: the musical references in this movie are so absurd that I grew to despise the top 5 lists. The one thing that saves this movie from a rating of 1 is the cameo by Bruce Springsteen. Woo NJ!
Clue (1985)
the best dessert island movie
This movie is hilarious in more ways than one. There is the obvious slapstick humor and the more subtle witty dialogue. The humor is often blunt but at the same time there are clever little jokes thrown in here and there that are easy to miss. I've seen this movie at least 20 times and every time I watch it I catch a new little tidbit that I missed the previous times. If I had to pick a movie to watch over and over again for all of eternity this would most definitely be my pick.
Sneakers (1992)
Lots of fun every time around
This movie is extremely clever and thought provoking. It is more capable of sending a chill down your spine than most "horror" movies. What's amazing is at the same time it is humorous and a lot of fun. All of these components come together to form a movie that is like your favorite Bruce Springsteen song, you can enjoy it time and time again deriving great pleasure from it each time. This is a great movie to talk about with people, so if for no other reason than that you should see it.
Doom Asylum (1987)
this movie is really bad, or at least I think it is
This movie is great for a few laughs. One of the victims of the nefarious coroner is so indecisive it is hilarious. He makes a statement and then second guesses himself with his following sentence. The acting in this movie is awful, the production is terrible, and the plot is ridiculous (but that's ok in a "horror" movie). This makes for a terrible movie that can be very funny at times.
