Parks and Recreation (2009)
Not your normal show!!
Just, actually, wanted to say Nick Offerman should star in a Perry Mason reboot. LOVE PARKS AND REC!!!!!
Tuca & Bertie (2019)
Bad news good news
Bad news: This series is being cancelled.
Good news: It is a pretty direct ripoff of Broad City so you can just watch that.
While I love good comedy done by good comedians it's diminished significantly if it's so close to another comedy that you make it into a cartoon to try to hide the fact. It's funny they where just too close for comfort.
The Lion King (2019)
Make sure to see the animated one.
This movie was like an over ripe banana. You can still have it but it's not as good. All I could think about was why? Why was this made? Certainly not for the kids. It's darker across the board, color isn't there, they added so much more drama, and the songs are shorter. Maybe for the parents? You know for sentimental reasons, probably not. As a big fan of Disney animation this was one I decided to give a try. See above why it falls flat. I just think Disney waned to make some fast cash with these live action remakes. As they seem to be really lacking in the imagination department these past few years...Check out the original if you haven't. You'll understand what I mean.
Free Solo (2018)
Too good?...
It does a great job of giving you a background on this guy and his truly amazing desire to climb a rock. Perhaps too good. If you fast forward to 1:19:00, the documentary should have started here. It's an otherworldly task that is best left to being observed in awe and silence (Seriously! Watch this, after you've skipped ahead, with the sound off. While your exercising. So all you hear is steady rhythmic breathing, even if it is just you sucking wind during your warm up.) really no need to try to ever explain why people climb. Ether you understand the interactions going on in climbing's romantic quintessence or you simply see someone "climbing a rock". That's part of the sports beauty.
Dennis Miller: Fake News, Real Jokes (2018)
Old and Lazy?!?
I liked Dennis on SNL for his right of center approach to Weekend Update. I was expecting that, in some form. What I got was about 20 min. (couldn't finish it) of a regurgitated diatribe about outdated FOX NEWS culture in joke form. Complaining like an old rural grandpa about things he is actually still understands as he applies his take. This poor guy's comedy shtick did not age well, I think it died on the SNL set, to be honest.
