Haereul poomeun dal (2012)
"Mystical" truly defines it.
I started liking historical Korean dramas because of this piece. I'm impressed by how Koreans make outrageous plots and turn it into something believable. Political schemes, magic and romance were the key ingredients of this series...and it worked.
Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010)
I enjoyed it.
This is one of the first Korean dramas that I watched and got me hooked. The story is not complicated but is deep enough to get excited on what happens next. The cast and crew did an excellent job. I truly had fun watching it and I've been going back to it (occasionally) to this day.
Yeopgijeogin Geunyeo (2017)
Liked it...at first.
...because of Joo Won. It had a lighthearted theme that tried to be serious. It was funny at times but the story wasn't remarkable. I was still able to finish it. To watch it again would be impossible.
Paradaisu kisu (2011)
Not bad...not great.
I generally liked the outfits in the animation series more.
As for the story, I can't fully say that the movie was better. There were hits and misses same as with the animation. Seeing how the characters looked like in real life was a plus.
Kanojo wa uso o aishisugiteiru (2013)
Good material for a drama.
I (accidentally) watched the Korean drama adaptation first.
This movie should have been turned into a drama as well. The cast did very well but the story left me hanging. This has been a common thing in Japanese movies...open endings.
Ichirei Shite Kiss (2017)
Typical.
It's a typical teenage romantic movie but lacked in depth. Injecting archery in the mix mostly got me interested to watch the film. Male lead was enigmatic; female lead was naive - as expected.
Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari (2019)
Refreshing.
I liked how the humble beginnings of the main character came about. Despite the fictional theme, many will surely identify with the hero. This gave me a taste of online gaming (which I'm not very fond of) in a good way. The story didn't feel complete to me though, especially the end. I haven't read the manga version but I do hope a continuation/second season will be released soon after.
Geunyeoneun Geojitmaleul Neomoo Saranghae (2017)
Liked it.
This is a (literal) sneak peek of the music industry in South Korea. It showed the "niceties" of the field. Still, I liked the fact that the drama focused and delved into the lives of only a handful of people, with their relationships well intertwined. The simplicity of the story is another plus for me. The conflicts that arose were highly relatable and resolutions were mature and rational. It (surprisingly) got me watching nonstop.
