Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022)
What a movie!
This was my first Bollywood movie in probably last 4..5 years. These days I don't find they are worth spending any time and money on, but I stumbled upon this somewhere, watched the trailer and wanted to give it a try. Man oh man, I wasn't disappointed. I loved every moments of it. The script, the characters, direction and acting, songs I don't care much; less the better. Dialogues are on point and gave me goosebumps more than once. Alia was superb, Ajay excelled in his cameo, and so did others
I'm the one who always respects woman but I will never disrespect any women in any profession, Period! What a message. Amazing movie. Probably one of the top 3 Bollywood movies I've ever watched.
The Batman (2022)
Long and boring.
First hour is really promising but kind of loses the track for rest of the movie. Riddler is more of a creep than a badass antagonist. Batman is confused all the time. So much build up for the main villain; runs the whole city, everyone is afraid to the point that they would rather kill themselves than rat on him etc...but it all ends in a lame way for him and the rest.
Vengeance is not the answer, giving People hope is the way. The only good thing about this movie is this message.
Winter on Fire: Ukraine's Fight for Freedom (2015)
Bravehearts!!
Ukrainians are on another level. Their will to die for their freedom and rights will inspire many generations to come. They had to fight against their own; an evil corrupt leader, and now they find themselves fighting against the invaders and dictator. Russians need to take a leaf out of
Ukrainians book and do everything in their power to outs Putin, and save themselves, Ukraine and maybe the whole world.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Way overhyped
It's decent but does it justify the hype? I'm not too sure. I have found Korean shows/movies (Squid games, Parasite) to be slightly overhyped for some reasons. They are different and creative, for sure. Well done to Netflix's marketing team.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Painful
I was really looking forward to watch this movie ever since the announcement was made. Not crazily invested in Superhero universe, however I have watched almost 90% of DC and Marvel movies and make no mistakes, Wonder Woman is one of my favourites Superhero characters out there. I wanted to like this movie so bad. First installment was good, entertaining.
This one is a complete dud.
"I wish for this movie to have never
existed".
Mulan (2020)
Not bad
Don't let your nostalgia pit this against its own animated counterpart; a fight it can't win. Not one of Disney's greatest creation but it's not 3..4 star bad either. Weak story, weak acting but visually pleasing and entertaining as hell. A solid 6..7. Gave 9 to balance out the poor ratings.
The Irishman (2019)
As good as Goodfellas, if not better!
I usually don't leave reviews but seeing some bad reviews and undeserved low ratings, I kind of felt compelled to chip in with my two cents.
Could movie have been an hour shorter? Could have there been more action? Yes. But that's not the point. The first three hours are entertaining and funny at times, last half hours portrays how bad guys end up with bad consequences and lifetime of repent. The last shot was a piece of an art and open to many interpretations.
"Painting house" "fish scene" "watermelon scene" "charge a man with a gun, with knife you run" "what kind of man makes a phone call like that" "leave the door open, I like it that way". There are many iconic scenes and dialogues/quotes that will be talked about in many years to come.
I don't want to give any abuse by saying "marvel fans" or whatever but you don't watch these kind of movies expecting "action" or "violence" every minutes. These movies don't have one guy with his machine gun fighting and killing hundred of bad guys, or two rival gangs fighting with unlimited arms and ammunition, instead these movies portray how businesses are conducted in real world by these mobsters.
In short, if you watched likes of Goodfellas and Godfather and loved them, you will love this too. This is in par with those movies. If this movie came out 30 years ago, would be an instant classic and one of the greatest movies ever. It still is, nonetheles.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Not as bad as people making this out to be
Whole season on the whole is awful. Finale is not as spectacular as we have hoped for but no way it was that poor. Few thousands fans who first watched started the criticism and it spread like a wildfire with others catching it.
Dany had to die after what she did killing innocent women and children. Jon was never interested in the throne, Arya was always going her own way, Sansa's motive has always been a free North, so who was left to rule the kingdom? bran the broken.
Night king, Cersei's deaths were lame, everything was so rushed but all characters ended up where they were supposed to be. The only frustration was not seeing any vengeance from Dothraki and Unsullied. They should have sought for the revenge for her queen/blood of the blood at the very least.
As many pointed out why did no one was protecting the queen? Because there was a giant monster guarding her at the door. He allowed because he smelled Targareyon blood. He knew it was Jon who killed his mother. Rather than killing the last surviving Targareyon he rather decided to end the root of all evil- an iron throne.
I'm not denying that there were many loose ends, plot holes, things that were not explained or story arc continued/followed but whatever ending they came up with was never going to satisfy every single fans.
