Bunty Aur Babli 2 (2021)
Fun movie that's worth your money
Bunty Aur Babli 2 is the successor to 2005's Bunty Aur Babli, and those who enjoyed the latter will also enjoy the former. Personally, I would go as far to say that I enjoyed the sequel more. There's never a dull moment in this fast paced flick, and all four actors impress.
Songs are pleasing to hear, with my picks being "Luv Ju" and "Dhik Chik". Direction and stunts are handled well, as is a blend of comedy and action. Locales are picturized nicely as well.
Overall, a fun flick to enjoy in theatres that you won't regret watching!
Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012)
A Fitting Swan Song for Yash Chopra
Yash Chopra - a director like no other who has entertained us for decades. From Daag to Lamhe and Veer-Zaara to Chandni with many others in between, his larger-than-life films have never failed to keep an audience member engaged.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan - a fitting name - is everything you expect from a Yash Chopra film. A well-paced story, excellent songs, phenomenal acting, and of course, superb directing.
Every frame is picturesque in this film. Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif have given some of the best performances of their careers, and Anushka Sharma surprises as the "side-heroine", never once having a dull moment.
Every song in this film is a masterpiece. From the underground "Ishq Shava" to the sweet "Heer" and the vivacious "Jiya Re", listeners are treated to a variety of musical arrangements that will stay with them long after the film. The title song - Jab Tak Hai Jaan - is perhaps one of the best songs of the decade that will make one nostalgic.
All in all, this film is a masterpiece and should not be missed.
Tees Maar Khan (2010)
Utter Garbage
How the hell was this movie greenlit? This is honestly one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Between the shoddy acting, annoying songs that come at the worst times (save for Sheila Ki Jawani), and lack of a narrative, Farah Khan truly disappoints in a way that no other director can.
The songs are absolutely terrible in this movie. The main characters will be tricking an entire village full of idiotic dimwits and buffoons, and cut to a song.
If you haven't heard the title song, you cannot say you know what the word "annoying" means. As for the ever so hyped Sheila (which is done within the first twenty minutes of the movie), we get introduced to Katrina Kaif's character and never see her again except for a few ditsy lines here and there.
Don't get me started on the so called humour. The worst screenwriter of the year goes to Shirish Kunder. Housefull (2010) is intelligent compared to this garbage crap.
As for the two male leads - the less said the better. Akshaye Khanna's career has reached an all time low (we're talking lower than the Marianna's Trench). As for Akshay Kumar, this movie really took a toll on his career.
Finally, the worst director of the decade award goes to none other than Farah Khan. The same director who brought you the excellent "Om Shanti Om" is now duping innocent moviegoers into wasting their money and time.
New York (2009)
Wow
This is one of the best films I have ever seen. The movie contains an important story which the world needs to know. I can guarantee that viewers will be blown away and will be invested in this movie from start to end.
John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, and Neil Nitin Mukesh are at their best. They play their respective parts of Sam, Maya, and Omar with incredible skill. The direction of this movie was excellent.
All in all, be sure to watch this movie! It contains harsh realities, but they are realities which the world needs to know.
Dil Bechara (2020)
New Take on The Fault in our Stars
Let's start off with the pros - the acting is amazing. Newcomer Sanjana Singh plays the role of Kizie (Hazel Grace) with justice while Sushant Singh Rajput excels as the fun Manny (Augustus). The soundtrack is amazing, with Khulke Jeene Ka being the best slow song to come from Bollywood in a while.
That being said, the direction of the movie is quite lacklustre. There are awkward transitions and the entire plot is shoved down your throat in the last 15 minutes, which really softens the emotional impact The Fault In Our Stars had.
It's good for a one time watch.
Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007)
The Cure For Insomnia
This movie is simply put, awful. Don't watch this movie if you're in a good mood, because it will most definitely put you in a bad mood after 30 minutes after this nonsense.
The song "Jhoom" is good maybe the first two times. But the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh time it plays it starts getting annoying. What's even more irritating is that the upbeat songs in the soundtrack include: Jhoom, JBJ, and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. THEY ARE THE SAME SONG. Unfortunately, they're the best thing about the movie.
If you were like me and you made your way through the movie hoping it would get better, I sympathize with you. This movie was crap from start to finish.
Lara Dutta was the only decent actor in the entire flick. Bobby Deol didn't even TRY, and Preity Zinta and Abhishek Bachchan both looked like they had better things to do - which they did! Don't get me started on Amitabh Bachchan appearing in random places and randomly singing. WHO IS HE SUPPOSED TO BE?
Most Bollywood movies have songs spaced out between the plot. THERE IS NO PLOT IN THIS MOVIE. The scenes, if you can even call them that, are spaced out between the same song playing over and over again. Think about ONE line that a character said in this film that isn't stupid. You can't, right?
The movie isn't funny at all. Even a delirious person would have a straight face throughout the film. I just realized that I titled this review "The Cure For Insomnia". I'm sorry, but I lied. After watching part of this film, you won't be able to fall asleep because you'll be too angry at yourself for watching this crap.
TL;DR: STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOVIE!
Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008)
Exciting Watch
I have rewatched this movie countless times, and I love it each and every time. The roles were played well, the comedic timing was excellent, and the movie has good morals. It's a must for any Bollywood lover.
Shazam! (2019)
Better than expected
This movie had a very interesting storyline - the villain(s) were creative and the jokes were funny. This is a kid-friendly DC movie, and I think parents and kids alike will enjoy this.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Huge Disappointment
I came into the theater expecting a phenomenal Marvel movie. Needless to say, I was sorely disappointed. This movie was more background information than movie, as this was the only Marvel movie where I didn't leave the theater with a good feeling. Captain Marvel was an attempt at making a strong female superhero - but Marvel can do so much better than her. Scarlet Witch and Black Widow are both phenomenal superheroes - why not work with them?
The film felt more like a Star Wars movie than a Marvel one, with all the space travel and intergalactic characters.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Phenomenal
No superhero fan will be disappointed with this movie!
Aladdin (2019)
Updated Remake
This movie was an excellent remake of the original one. I personally enjoyed this movie more as it modified the plot to make it more interesting. For example, adding the whole festival made the movie feel more geographically accurate. The song and dance sequences were fantastic and the the whole cast was amazing - especially the two main actors as they had great chemistry.
The Lion King (2019)
A Classic
Fans of the 1994 classic will love this remake. It is very visually appealing and embraces the characters and setting.
