Good, except for Chani
16 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It's hard to adapt Dune. It's very intricate and with today's snowflakes they have put their own spin on it. Could have been perfect but of course they can't just tell the story as it was written.

I'll star with the Pros:

Overall, very nicely done. Austin Butler nailed Feyd-Rautha and the fight with he and Paul was great.

The black sun on Geidi Prime was very unique and interesting.

Paul riding Shai-hulud for the first time was great and the Attack on Arakeen with the worms was great.

Pre-born Alia. I liked that they showed Jessica talking to her and that Jessica is one hell of a badasa.

Cons:

A, number 1, Paul and Chani. Changing her character changed their relationship into something that didn't make sense. The fact that they changed Chani means they didn't understand her. She loved Paul and stood with him throughout the campaign and for as long as she was alive. She was his tether so he didn't lose his humanity while on his path. She wasn't 'blinded by love' she pushed back on him but never left him even when he married Irulan.

Timeline, Paul's campaign was less than 9 months as Alia isn't even born yet. He spent somewhere in the ballpark of 5 years in the desert. He and Chani even had a son. Why change that? Changing that means you changed who killed the Baron which is a pretty important thing in Alia's life and comes back later. She is known as Alia of the Knife for a reason.

In conclusion, it's a good movie, it really is but even for someone who had never seen or read Dune like my date, Chani was a bipolar pain. "I love you but I don't trust you." "I believe in you but I don't believe you." "You are the written prophecy but I don't believe you." That wishy washy, back and fourth takes you out of the movie because you don't believe this is a real relationship.

Leland Orser doing what Leland Orser does best
5 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Let me begin by saying Leland Orser gets a 10. No one can play deranged, crazy, creepy, etc like him.

Everyone needs to ease up on Harry. He's only as good as the writing will allow him and we've established he was not their favorite.

He's young and always awkward so take it easy. So he has a crush on Seven and messes it up, that's Harry. He's just trying to make her feel welcome hence his small talk that is clumsy because she doesn't understand. She makes it worse because she doesn't understand subtlety or flirting.

Harry was always a favorite for me in Voyager for the reasons in this episode. He's shy, awkward, clumsy with women, but he's kind and sweet.

Booker
29 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I don't really like Booker as a character. I don't think his character was needed and they try too hard to make him cold.

This episode has Booker undercover as a racist shock jock to find out who tried to blow up the last one. It's really the first time we get to see Booker conflicted about being a real jerk and you can't help but feel bad for him as he's pretty convincing as a bigot. He begins to alienate Judy and it's interesting to see that he's really affected by it.

This episode is pretty par for things we've seen before but for a character I don't really like, Booker, to have some vulnerability is a pretty nice change.

Dustin Nguyen's Story
25 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode we learn that Ioki is not Harry's true identity. He's not Japanese but a refugee from the Fall of Saigon. Afraid that no one would accept a Vietnamese refugee into the police academy he stole the identity of a Japanese kid who died as an infant. The episode shows the ramifications of the fact he lied and some animosity from Fuller who served in Vietnam but despite where he is from Harry has been one of the most dependable and decorated members of Jump Street.

Love this episode because of its root in real events for Dustin Nguyen and his family as they escape from Saigon. Kudos to the writers and creators of Jump Street for showing what happened in Saigon and to the refugees who fled. I can't imagine that it was easy for Nguyen to turn it into an episode but I think we all can appreciate his bravery for putting it out there.

Very Disappointing
18 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Wanted to like that but wow did they make that hard. Maybe it's because I don't have much of a family but holy Hannah, could they make the family members any more obnoxious? Terrible directing, terrible acting even from Susan Sarandon. I enjoyed, always do, Raoul Trujillo but he couldn't carry the whole movie.

To me it felt like the movie was one big chaotic, stereotypical mess. The story I liked and I hoped that it would be good but DC can't figure out how to make a good movie for anyone other than a 12 year old audience.

DC needs to go to Marvel's office and take serious notes, stop turning good stories into awful movies. So disappointing.

Oh my God
21 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Why couldn't we have gotten three seasons of this?! Immeasurably grateful for this season.

Started crying right off the bat for Anton Yelchin's tribute and Walter Koenig voice.

Cried tears of absolute pride and joy watching the D back in serious action against the Cube and Seven using the Titan like the Defiant.

Felt way more emotion when Spacedock fell...I love the fact that they made that station so tough it took the entire fleet to bring it down.

The return of the original Borg Queen, Alice Krieg.

From a lifelong Trekkie, Thank you to all those involved for giving us the first true Star Trek taste in a very long time with this season.

The Sharps Scene
28 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Absolute 10 for the Sharps scene. Reminded me a bit of Quigley. But Eli showing himself as a Pawnee Warrior and defending what he loves was absolutely magnificent. It wasn't over done but less is more when it comes to some things.

I think what makes it so magnificent was the education received by Spencer and approval of Spencer's portrayal from the Pawnee Nation adds a level of greatness you don't normally see in similar works.

This is my favorite episode of the show in its plot, writing, and acting. Eli's normally restrained manner is lifted and he saves and is saved by family he watched be torn apart.

9 overall, 10 for Chaske Spencer
28 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I love seeing good actors get their due. Been a fan of Chaske Spencer for a long time and he knocked this part out of the park. Emily Blunt also does an amazing job in such a different role for her.

The English tells a very well written story about revenge with a slow burn love story added in. This is not a cliched settler/native romance and that's what I liked about it but also hated because they did it so well I wanted it to be that cliched story.

Episode 5: Buffalo Gun has the finest scene in the whole show as Eli has enough and shows himself as a Pawnee warrior. A wonderful and powerful scene that was not overblown but it sticks with you.

Bottom line, Chaske Spencer and Emily Blunt have true chemistry and it is extremely well written. I recommend this show but please pay attention and all of the questions you'll have by episode 4 will be answered.

Give Hoon Lee an award
27 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Came here after watching Warrior, for me, this is a so so show. It's not perfect and it has its moments however...give all the awards to Hoon Lee.

Job is the reason I kept the show going. Very well written character that I just can't get enough of. Hoon Lee knocks that character out of the park and I love it.

Overall the show is interesting if not repetitive, unrealistic, and over the top. A few glaring inaccuracies, namely reservations In Pennsylvania (a state which has none) but it is interesting enough to keep you engaged. Several episodes are flat out fantastic so turn your brain off and enjoy it.

Six and Kai
18 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So I love this show. Much better than I was anticipating. The special effects aren't stellar but the characters, writing, acting is all pretty good. Started watching it because of Byron Mann who plays the Dragon Head, Uncle Six and I was not disappointed in his work. (Never am, really, the man is great)

What I truly love about the show is how they wrote Uncle Six. Six is a Triad boss but unlike how most unimaginative writers would write him as a ruthless, heartless gangster and a straight up villain they made him Human. By that, I mean under his Triad exterior is a father who loves his son. Six will do anything to protect Kai, including giving up his power when it put him in danger. It's a shame that the progress toward fixing their relationship was cut short.

They also show Six as someone who cares about those hurt by his error like Lu Xin. I don't think he was trying to cover anything up or hide his involvement, if anything paying for the surgeries would point the finger at him more, I think he was truly sorry for what happened as he didn't know they were there.

Again, love the show, it's not perfect, it's over the top in some places but the character relationships are very well done. I recommend it.

Solid Effort
6 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Don't pay attention to bad reviews. This is actually good. Be patient with it don't expect a mini Arnold taking on the Predator.

If you are expecting guns blazing and hand to hand fighting with the Predator you're gonna need to think again.

In the Predator lore, they hunt on the same basic level as what they are hunting otherwise there's no sport or honor in it. In this one, it hunts Mountain Lions, Wolves, a Rattlesnake that got a little uppity, and a badass fight with a bear. Never used anything except a blade. It only used it primary weapon when faced with muskets and bows...

And no, she doesn't get into a brute force contest with it like Dutch. She figures out how to beat it using tactics. Her brother on the other hand did a really good job fighting it.

And, for the love of god, no...it did not 'save' her from the Bear...The bear was worthy prey that just happened to be chasing her at the time.

Research before you rate
9 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Painfully clear that some of y'all who are commenting have never been through tornado survival and have no idea about horses and live stock. Allow me... If you are caught in the middle of nowhere in a tornado, you find the lowest spot and get in it. Keeps you from being hit by debris, struck by lightning, and the terrain will help shield you. The tornado will pass over or near you and, while it's not perfect, your chances of survival are better.

Someone commented that it was stupid to release the horses rather than outrun the storm...horses will instinctively seek safety and it's better if you are not there. Unhitch wagon horses because the wagon will fly away. Remove the saddle from riding horses if you have time so if you die your horse isn't stuck with something they can't rub off. If the tornado forms far enough away, unlike here, you can stay a safe distance from it incase it shifts. This one pretty much dropped on top of them.

Another comment I had to shake my head to...the tornado didn't drop rain. Not all do.

Another gem...Elsa's horse is supposed to be fast but couldn't outrun the thieves. Horses are mammals not cars, Lightning can be as fast as he likes but only for so long and he'd already run from a Tornado, run to track the herd, and run away from them. Wouldn't you be tired?

I get that it's a TV show but please do a little fact finding before you comment and look like an idiot.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. That is the embodiment of this film in one line. Doing the right thing when you didn't have to.

Are their errors, yes, but that's Hollywood. I recommend this movie, take it for what it is and it's base message.

I really wanted to like the episode. I do not bash Kim for keeping to her beliefs. She shouldn't need to explain herself to the rest of the high and mighty. The SERE training I can't stand in this, mainly because of the chick in charge.

Loved it
6 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love this movie. It recounts the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010 for which BP was responsible for but no justice was served.

Peter Berg is one of my favorite directors namely due to The Kingdom, and he and his cast did a great job on this. His attention to detail shows through here and love that. This is not a movie that is going to win an Oscar (except for special effects) and it's not a documentary but it does show what happened and why/how it happened.

I've seen reviews that bash it for not showing justice for the ecological damage and loss of life...well, there wasn't any. And those confused with the technical jargon, I'm not an oil rigger and I understood it. All you need to do is pay attention. Jimmy actually explains most of it quite well as does the BP rep.

The last response to a review I read was that it wasn't emotionally draining. Anyone who says this wasn't emotionally draining has never worked rescue before. The ship that witnessed the explosion and began immediate SAR saved countless lives. The crane operator's sacrifice, and the fate of those in the drill shack should have been draining...not to mention the site of that rig in flames.

The Landing
23 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
People who didn't like this movie missed the point. It's not Apollo 13. It's not about a dramatic incident that's a race against the clock. This is told from Armstrong's point of view, not like Earth to the moon who settled on everyone. It depicts aspects of the life of one of the greatest people in history. The mistakes, the tragedy, and the triumphs.

Yes there are errors but every movie has that. The depiction of the Gemini 8 malfunction was great. Imagine rolling that many times...but the best sequence was, of course, the moon landing. The soundtrack combine with beautiful effects and original CAPCOM made for a brilliant perfect scene.

17 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love this episode. Everyone's distrust of each other leads to their downfall and I love that. Not a neat and tidy episode.

Everything going fine the ruse until Chiana and Rygel screw it up. Loved the commandos, Larraq was a very interesting character but I being favorite was actually Thorn. Constantly portraying Peacekeepers as ruthless thugs gets old but Larraq and Thorn seemed to be willing to work together to fix the problem...until the end there that is.

Overall, I love this. Guest characters that are interesting. Crichton masquerading as a Peacekeeper was great but the distrust among the crew caused the entire mess.
