Enjoyable, fun, but not the best
29 May 2005
Warning: Spoilers
*Light Spoilers* ROTS has the best title, action, and "story" of the new trilogy that the first two lacked. i must say, i really gave into this hype big time and even dressed up for opening night. afterwords, well, i was satisfied, confused, and a bit sad.

i am a big star wars fan: i play the games and read the books, but i never go to the point to make it my life. what separates me from the geekdom is the fact that i can still point out crap characters, lines, and plot twists rather than be a die hard fan that thinks everything is wonderful just because its in this genre. in saying that, i really was satisfied with the great musical score, the top notch action, some of the humor, and watching how anakin succumbed. i felt it tied in nicely to how Luke felt good in him still. Despite the little "noooooo!" chant at the end giving me a chuckle, it did its job in showing that, even after doning his mask and suit, he still had some compassion at that point. still, it was a stupid stereotypical line to give him.

the confusion comes in with grievous. OK, he was interesting and all, BUT WHERE THE HELL DID HE COME FROM??? i didn't watch enough of that clone wars cartoon, though i did see him in one episode when Anakin was knighted. regardless, let's stick to the movies! lucas, we need origins from you, not from others! two other things that confused me was how obi-wan merely took anakin's lightsaber and in episode IV he told Luke his father wanted him to have it. well, the easiest assumption to make is that obi-wan made that up because he wasn't ready to tell Luke he was his father. OK, that works. then comes the line in return of the jedi. Luke asks leia about her mother and leia said she was very beautiful, but sad. she died when i was very young. but, wait! didn't padme die giving birth?? the less logical way of saying it is that bail organa told her that when she got older. still, its kind of shaky and confusing. i don't want to make assumptions, i want to know. i mean, come on, this movie franchise is a big deal here! finally, i am sad. its all over (but i guess in the future, someone will pick up and either do some cheesy ass re-make of the trilogies or maybe even make the books into movies since a lot of people are taking classic movies like bullitt, the house of wax, etc, and butchering them). i am also sad that the new trilogy had to mainly suck so bad. god, Liam Neelson is such a great actor, but Qui-Gon Jinn was so boring and dull! Hayden Christensen (or whatever) had such a terrible cock to his head in episode 2 and the cheesiest pick up lines in the world! Natalie Portman is a great actor, but her chemistry with Hayden was absolutely awful! at least Iam Macdirmid did a fantastic job as Palpatine. he really played the deceptive role of the chancellor so well.

all in all, ROTS is a great ride, but flawed with some bumps. the dialogue is still mediocre, the action is still top notch, the story is confusing, but fun, and the lightsaber duel at the end was filled with grief and terror. the best part of the whole movie: jar jar had no lines! good try, Lucas, you redeemed yourself quite a bit in my eyes.

on a different note, i hope KOTOR III will be made

The Way Batman's Origin was meant to be told
15 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
From the dramatic scroll through Gotham city in the opening theme to the duel with the joker, mask of the phantasm is an incredible ride, following the origins of how Bruce coped with the loss of his family.

SPOILER the BEST scene in the entire movie was after Andrea returned the ring to Bruce. the music saddens a bit, the camera scrolls to Bruce's parent's portrait. then, a chilling upbeat song begins as the camera then scrolls down into the bat cave. we see Alfred with a saddened face as he watches Bruce donning his destiny. after putting on his utility belt, he extends his hand for his mask. Alfred hands it to him. the main theme starts up and there is a pause as Bruce stares at the mask briefly, possibly thinking, this is the only way now. the camera goes to a close view of Bruce's lower torso, Alfred still in the background watching. Bruce puts on the mask, Alfred looking a bit unsure. Bruce turns and Alfred gasps in shock. the main theme picks up into more of a choir theme and batman's eyes are shown up close, those white eyes in the darkness. he narrows them. Alfred cries out "my...god..." as batman walks past him and out into destiny...

i get tears each time i see that scene you MUST see this movie if you are a batman fan. your life depends on it.

Worthy Sequel
13 November 2003
to correct ulmer there, you play a 1st lt. by the name of mike powell in allied assault.

as for this game, wow, what can i say. 9 missions really was worth the 20 bucks i spent, and the cutscenes with gary oldman narrorating were surperbly done. i didn't think anything could top or meet the omaha beach scene from the original, but once barnes leaped out of that plane, my jaw hit the ground at the atmosphere i was seeing.

the medal of honor series are perhaps the BEST games EVER made next to the highly noted thief series. world war 2 is such a fantastic and fun time to study about, and with these games, you can take part in a piece of the history and the sacrifice that we went through in order to achieve what we did. way to go EA

The Second Best Game I have EVER played
13 November 2003
it was june of 2003 when i decided to begin the medal of honor series at long last. i was told it was absolutely fantastic and that i should own all of them. well, i started with this one. going through operation torch was fun, and the norway mission was great when the undercover part came up. then, it was time for operation overlord. now, when i got this game, i had never seen saving private ryan and i had heard a great deal about how this game was influenced by the movie (hell, this game influenced me to finally see that movie). i knew normandy played a crucial role in world war II, but i didn't really know exactly what happened.

well, the higgins boat sped along, the AI barfed and looked nervous, then came the whistle and the MG 42 fire came stormin in. at this point, i had tears in my eyes, not because of the loss of my comrades, but the view of the beach, the sounds of artillery fire, the intensity of running up to that shingle. a familiar tingle trickled in me, much like it did in thief. i was absolutely astonished at this scene.

after beating this game, i later began my hunt for the games. i now own every single one except for rising sun, which i will get for x-mas.

also, this game influenced my renewed spirit to study world war 2 as leisure. i still am learning and enjoying about it with my free time

thank you, EA, thank you for such a brilliant game!

Good Movie Ending Terribly
13 November 2003
The War for Zion was outstanding, the final clash between Neo and Smith did not let me down (hell it reminded me of the classic Kamui/Fuma fight at the end of X TV), and the beginning was very classy...and yet....WHY DID THE ENDING HAVE TO SUCK??? everyone went well until the end....and after an ending like that, you can bet ANOTHER movie can possibly be in the making whether its animated or not. they really put their heart and soul into this movie, but i think they decided to choose the classic anime ending of "wait...they won...but where is he??? what's gonna happen next??? what is this crap???"

otherwise, i loved the mecha, neo and smith dragon ball z'ed it out, and i got to see more of monica belluchi's wonderful chest ^_^.

on the other hand, the death of you know who at the end rolled a tear down the cheek and morpheous' lackluster role p*ssed me off to no ends.

my theory, however, on how neo was able to feel them was correct. being a programmer myself, i figured he brought some of the source code out with him, because (like a system admin) being the one means to control all supposively, and the architect knew that, but did not share it due to his "view of everything as variables and calculations."

now the question you ask is this "should i go and see it?" the answer, of course. it is (theoretically) the last matrix movie, and if you've been following it, of course you wanna see what happens at the end. its not a bad movie at all, its very enjoyable, but the ending will either make you mad or even cry like the many folks i saw leaving the theaters

but imo, they should have given me the script

San Francisco, mustangs, exploisions, oh yeahhh!
5 June 2002
i remember like it was just yesterday: when i was 16, my brother and i had a friend over. we were playing on the playstation when all of the sudden, my dad yelled, "hey guys, come and take a look at this, i think you'll like it!" so, we put the controllers down and got up to see what dad was talking about. there was a cool looking guy in a mustang trailing a guy with glasses and a bald guy. i noticed they were in san francisco, so we sat down. suddenly, the guy with glasses buckled up, and i turned my head to dad with excitement. he nodded and smiled and i then glued my eyes to the TV. once the black car took off, the engine roaring, my jaw dropped. i looked at my brother and my friend, who had the same face. A CAR CHASE IN SAN FRANCISCO!! YE-HAAA! so, we watched it, and oh my god, it was FANTASTIC. a year later, i watched the whole movie. this is a very good crime drama with some nice touches of noir elements in it. steve mcqueen is one of my favorite actors from the 60's, and he does a great job with the acting. the story is very good, involving the murder of Bullitt's buddies. and, if you didn't know, mcqueen did drive in a lot of those scenes in the car chase. the director wanted to get close-ups of his face, something that was very popular in the 60's. overall, you must see this movie, you'll jump for joy once you hear the RRRRRRRRRRR. hehe

My faith in Lucas has returned...somewhat
4 June 2002
after having suffered through the dreaded anguish of the phantom menace, i prayed that episode 2 would be much better. well, having seen the previews for it over and over and drooling over how cool it looked, i prayed the plot and dialogue would be an improvement over episode 1. by golly, it was. this is much better than episode 1, and actually has plot development in it. the action scenes are terrific, the acting is somewhat good, with a few exceptions, and yoda? well, pretty fly for a jedi he is, yes, mmm. hehe. anyway, a few problems i had with it: hayden's depiction of anakin's anger was well done, he acted like the perfect adolescent. however, his little cock of the head in the "love scenes" between him and portman left me...well...almost giggling. and the chemistry between them? let's just say even if they were in their own movies, they still wouldn't have enough chemistry between them. finally, its pretty unbelievable when a computer generated lawn ornament has better lines than more than half of the HUMAN cast. with all that said, attack of the clones is a very fun and enjoyable movie to watch. now, the buzz on episode 3 is the comical relief is going to be scratched. this one is gonna be a serious movie, and if they can add that feeling, like they did in the original trilogy, we're looking at the best of the three HOPEFULLY

the best soapbox movie for angry people
4 June 2002
ok, like fight club, one word can only sum this movie up: unbelievable. this is the best movie to watch if you are an angry person or want to get a lot of great laughs from superb acting and a more than hilarious ending. when i saw the part where howard beale went on TV and let out his anger, i almost stood up and cheered. this movie makes one realize about how difficult things can be such as a job, getting along with people, and so on. once Beale let out all of his feelings on TV, it took people by storm. another lesson this movie emphasizes is the fact that the director was trying to show how manipulative TV was, and thus giving the ending, which i will not reveal, its meaning. this is a definate must see, period

Noir (2001–2002)
now THIS is anime
31 May 2002
ok, having gone through my freshman year at Arizona and watching the new shiz over at TASS, i must say Noir stands out as one of my favorites that i have seen out of the new stuff (other recommendations: X, hellsing, vandread, love hina). i was looking foward for the first episode to this series because the name sounded cool at first. after watching the opening theme, listening to the music throughout the first episode, and seeing how the plot was unfolding, i was blown away. this touches anime in a way that i have never seen before. i would definately say this series rivals cowboy bebop and trigun combined! if you're looking for gun fights, girls, lots of killing, and one of the most electrifying soundtracks, see this, period

good concept, too short
31 May 2002
ok, lets be reasonable here. this was one kick ass movie. however, the length of it left much to be desired. now, this movie had some of the funniest lines i've heard in a long time. the car chase sequence was great and barry naked? *makes smooch sound with fingers.* lets also not forget the "test" good ol stan had to go through. best of all, the explosion in the opening of the movie. oh god, what AWESOME camera work! overall, rent this baby first, you'll love it.

Viva Las Vegas. Viva Los Onces!
31 May 2002
a week after seeing lord of the rings (outstanding movie by the way), dad asked my brother and i if we wanted to go see oceans eleven. i said, sure, it deals with vegas, why not? well, we went to see it and i must say, this is a great movie! i compared it to the 1960 version, and i must say, the newer one is better. the 60's version just got big names together, like frank sinatra for example, and did nothing else with the movie. it was pretty cheesey too. the new one, on the other hand, provided a great cast, a better touch on the storyline, and some funny lines and moments. this is a great movie to see if you ever wanted to see "high tech" bank robberies. go for it!

one of the best modern movies EVER made
31 May 2002
oh...my...god...i just recently saw this. one word sums it up, unbelievable. this movie is what i have been waiting for since the 1976 classic, Network. ok, if you're female, you might not like it, but if you do, good for you! you obviously have some good taste and are willing to try out something new. anyway, fight club has some of the most fantastic psychological elements i have EVER seen. the lines are amazing, the acting is perfect, and the story has so many twists and turns, you'll be spinning in your chair, hehe. this movie made realize a few things we take for granted in life, and freaked the hell out of my roomate, heh. this is the movie to see if you love mind trips!

no fantasy movie to date rivals this
31 May 2002
one a cold winter morning, a few days before christmas, my family and i were driving over to tinseltown (name of our theater), and were very excited to see lord of the rings. well, the whole time, my bro and i were glued to our seats. the acting was great, the special effects were outstanding, the story was told nicely in comparison to the book, and the camera shots were well executed. this is one amazing movie, and if it doesn't get anymore than 3 stars, i will be mad.

Cool World (1992)

its alright
3 June 2001
not too bad. it is kind of original, but very weird. i watch anime, so i can tolerate it. lol. anyway, the story is an interesting one, but the acting is pretty bad. it does teach two things, though. brad pitt says "be contempt with the cards you're dealt" and "there is pain in the real world. its lonely and there are 8,000,000 ways to die." good points. its sort of a look at a utopia of a cartoonist's mind. this movie shouldn't be seen by people who wish to live in a fantasy world such as cartoon, anime, or whatever, it'll make things worse. anyway, cool world is good to watch when you get the chance.

one of the best cases holmes has been on
24 April 2001
now this was a good movie. holmes and watson must protect the star of rhodesia on a train bound for scotland from another one of holmes arch rivals, Sabastian Moran. this movie portrayed the elements of a great case, lots of suspects, a dark atmosphere, a second hand, a few murdrs, and a plot twist at the end. this is a must see for any holmes fans!

not the best, but still entertaining
24 April 2001
this wasn't the greatest of the 14 main sherlock holmes videos, but it has a very interesting plot behind it. this movie has it all, secret codes, espionage, disguises, a beautiful woman, and a huge reward. this is the last of the 14 and it was my second least favorite. still, you might as well see it since its sherlock holmes with rathbone.

an average sherlock holmes film
24 April 2001
i would have to give this one a 7/14. this is the middle weight of the rathbone campaign. anything that scores below this wasn't bad, it just wasn't a major impact. anyway, the plot is very interesting and the acting is good, but it is too damn short. sure, moriarity is in it, but the case is solved too quickly. still, it is worth it. see it if you like sherlock holmes.

the best holmes movie
24 April 2001
this movie has it all, dark atmosphere, unforgetable characters, a good murder mystery, nice locations, good acting, and a really cool plot twist. holmes and watson must investigate the murders of "The Good Comrades," and after each one dies, a letter with orange pips comes, with the number of the remaining friends left. a great, great holmes movie that you don't want to miss!

a very exciting movie!
24 April 2001
this is my second favorite sherlock holmes movie next to the house of fear. it pits sherlock holmes against a woman with a deadly spider who commits these so called "pajama suicides." gale soundergard plays a great role in this movie, marking her down in the history books. rathbone and bruce are the sherlock holmes and dr. watson and will always be. the acting is good, the characters are intriguing, and the story is well laid out. if you can find this video, get it.

a spooky thriller
24 April 2001
the sixth movie of the rathbone era consists of some of the weirdest and creepy elements i've seen in an old movie. a clock strikes 13, weird murders are being committed in a home, and a human chess game is the key to solving a puzzle. this is a very good movie. the acting is good, and the atmosphere is just right. if you like sherlock holmes, see this.

A voice on the radio that hurls doom to all
24 April 2001
when i first heard about sherlock holmes entering a WWII atmosphere, i was a bit skeptical, but after seeing this, rathbone did a great job with dealing in the nazis. this was a very cool holmes movie. the villain is perfectly acted, the story is a traditional WWII detective story, and the atmosphere is very good. see this if you want a new perspective on holmes.

another holmes/WWII classic
24 April 2001
this movie takes the voice of terror and makes it better. holmes is protecting an inventor in switzerland and is on the trail of professor moriarity, who has become a nazi. this is a better version of holmes in a WWII world. rathbone does a great job with holmes as a spy and a detective. see this if you liked the voice of terror.

the best holmes vs. moriarity movie, period
24 April 2001
this is one of the best sherlock holmes movies out there. this one pits holmes against his arch rival, professor moriarity. moriarity is trying to steal the crown jewels and is murdering people at the same time and it is up to holmes and watson to protect their client and stop moriarity. the story is great, the acting is incredible, the atmosphere is good, and the fight at the end rocks. a must see.

the third movie of the highlander campaign is pretty good. the story is interesting, the action is intense, there are funny parts, and the acting isn't all too bad. i must admit, though, this was better than the second one, which totally sucked. one thing i didn't like about this movie was the villain imitating the dark barbarian guy from the first one. overall, highlander 3 is one to see for highlander fans.
