The Godfather Trilogy: 1901-1980 (1992)
The complete story of Corleone family with some never seen before sequences
One single word: the apotheoses! I always said that "the Godfather" is not a story divided in three films, but one single film: a 9 hours 43 minutes long film. Everything is linked together perfectly. So that's the best film ever made, and it should be ranked at #1 of IMDb top 250! Vote it and give it the vote it deserves: 10!
Heat (1995)
The best robber and the best policeman in Los Angeles face-to-face
Could a man (or a woman) ask further things? An action film with thrilling shootings, great dialogues, a memorable soundtrack, Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro,...everything in the same film! The great things of this film are the truthfulness of story and Pacino and DeNiro's majestic interpretation. Their characters are very realistic and examined thoroughly. Without doubts this is Michael Mann's masterpiece. A great film.
The Godfather Part III (1990)
The story of Corleone family ends
A lot of people said that this film isn't as good as the other two, and it isn't ranked even in the IMDb top 250 (instead "the Godfather" and "the Godfather - part II" are in the #1 and #6). That's on right! Ok, maybe it's true that "the Godfather - part III" is less thrilling and not original, but it completes marvellously "the Godfather Trilogy". Certainly the end of "the Godfather - part III" (which corresponds at the end of the saga) is so sad that I cried a lot when I first saw it (and I still cry everytime I see it). It's the best end I've ever seen. If you have seen the first and the second film of the saga, you can't feel satisfied without have seen the part III. It's marvellous, sad, strong,...great!
The Blues Brothers (1980)
Two orphans try to save their orphanage playing R'n'B.
Personally I hate musicals, because there is a very poor plot, the story is simple and everyone only sing and dance (not very good songs). But "the Blues Brothers" is a fantastic movie! Songs are great, there's a good sense of humour, the story is very good and there are memorable sequences. But overall, instead of the other musical films, there's a good reason for every song in the film of being played and sung.
The Godfather Part II (1974)
The Corleone story continues
"The Godfather" is simply wonderful, and "the Godfather - part II" couldn't be less good! It's the best sequel ever made.
It's wonderful to see 2 great actors as Al Pacino and DeNiro: I don't know who could be the best in this film, both are fantastic!
The Godfather (1972)
The story of Corleone family
I'm not going to waste my time and my words on the plot or the summary of the film, but I'll write about the feelings that I proved watching "the Godfather". This film is a perfect movie and the cast is one of the best ever seen: Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, James Caan, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire... The majority of the actors are still appreciated and sought-after. The cinematography is wonderful; the soundtrack is very good (when I hear the trumpet at the real beginning I have the creep). I was really surprised when I read that "the Godfather" won only three Academy Awards: it should have won at least 10 of them. "The Godfather" is one of of the films that will be remembered even many years by now, and it's without doubts one of my favourite movies (with "the Godfather - part II and part III" and "Braveheart"). Don't miss it!
Woodstock (1970)
The documentary of Woodstock festival
"Woodstock is not only a documentary, it's a real piece of history that teels us what happened during that three days of pure heaven on earth (as a matter of fact Jimi Hendrix's performance was deferred two days later, so the days are practically 4). In fact, "Woodstock" won the Oscar as "best documentary". I hope that this film won't be forgiven by anyone!
