Role Play (2024)
Avoid This Like You Would Your Psychotic EX
Terrible casting, including Kaley Cuoco, to begin with. The Story, Script & Screenplay is an obscene insult to the movie audience. This is not a Comedy, this is not a Thriller, this is not an Assassin / Spy Flick, definitely not a Drama, what in the heck is this movie? I'm willing to bet that the person incharge of green lightning this project and those responsible for making it were hired directly out from Netflix. Yeah, it's that's bad! It's Netflix bad! Looks like Amazon Prime really wants to give Netflix a run for its Throne of absolute crappy movies. A complete waste of audiences time and money.
Heart of Stone (2023)
Pssst... Netflix, Stop Producing Movies
What a dull drab of a picture! Using the latest camera, filming in gorgeous locations, trying to put in extravagant action sequences, grading to Dolby Vision etc etc just doesn't make a movie! A Movie is not a stitching together of isolated elements but a marriage of all the elements intricately woven into each other. Just because somebody's a great car salesman, it doesn't make them a great race driver! Likewise, just because a movie rental shop rents (streams in this case) great movies, it doesn't make them great filmmakers! Netflix, you've proved over and over that you just can't produce a good movie. So, STOP. Just be a good streaming service. Save the production billions and in turn reduce the subscription for the customers. You just don't understand movies man!
The Pope's Exorcist (2023)
Russell Crowe stamps his presence in a good looking picture that lacks punch.
At least the movie doesn't end with some cliched twist or parting shot of something not quite dead yet - and that deserves some points. Although the cinematography overtly favors underexposure, the film is visually appealing. The climax is thankfully not stretched but it does leave you with a feeling of "Oh, that ended quick". And the run up to the end isn't any different, the movie just lacks punch.
Why should you watch it?
Russell Crowe. Not only has he put in a stellar performance with an impressive accent, he takes over the picture completely with just his presence. So, forget the devil that fails to put in a good scare, watch the picture for some good old acting.
John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
There Are Video Games And There Are Movies, What Is This?
Throwing a gun at somebody hurts them more than shooting them with a bullet, apparently. The action sequences look like dance choreography. And a blind man proves humans don't need eyes for anything, much less shooting or sword play or "watching" loved ones. This is an utterly ridiculous piece of garbage. This is not Cinema. This is just shoot, kick, slay and whatever other crap you can come up with. And it lasts a whopping 2 hours and 49 minutes. Whoever finishes watching this must be given a gift, surely.
There Are Video Games And There Are Movies, What Is This? For this is just not cinema, Period.
Lakewood (2021)
Are You Happy Naomi Watts?
This is not what motion pictures should be. And it pains to see grade-A people involved in this production. I clicked watch the instant I saw it was starring Naomi and regretted doing so as soon as she started her run in the picture. I realised then that this was a quick dash production during the pandemic. What a misleading movie poster, making it seem like a thriller.
Talented and 'Made' ones should stop doing this quality. Let them amateurs and first time makers dabble in these incongruous tripe, at least they would have a reason for the egregious content.
And, Naomi and all the other established talent that are getting old, please don't go down the same path as Nicolas Cage.
Spare Us All.
