Beregis avtomobilya (1966)
Modern Robinhood
This movie, like most Soviet movies, is meant to have a message that couldn't get past the censors. It's about a man who steals cars from thieves to give to orphans. He wants to combat corruption in society as a vigilante (a bad one at that), and along the way ends up bringing almost everyone to his side.
It's a fun film, but isn't as interesting as it could've been.
Gamlet (1964)
Starring the "King of Soviet Actors"
This is an interesting adaptation of Hamlet that tries to use the script, but bring it to life. It doesn't try to act as something it's not, but fully leans into the tragedy. The second half is much more action-packed and entertaining than the first--which in my opinion came off as a little melodramatic.
Death by Script (2017)
Funny Insight into the life of Script Readers
This movie was clearly made by someone with knowledge of the industry, and someone who wasn't afraid to critique it. Quite a funny glimpse into that mentality.
Cabiria (1914)
Entertaining, but Confusing
Not a great film. This movie was quite important in the history of cinema, and had quite good costumes and sets, but regarding plot and character... not great.
You should watch this if you want to see a historically biased view towards the Romans, and it is enjoyable if you can look past the massive plot holes and ignorance.
