Ex spouses with a snarky banter seem to be more prominent than the murder. Makes it really boring as the two main characters become increasingly unlikeable.

As others have said this is not a prequel to the excellent Wallander series. I'm a huge fan of Scandinavian noir and police series and just finished watching Before We Die which was very good and stars the same actor and so this was very disappointing for several reasons. Everything about this is turgid and the use of English but with a mishmash of accents is distracting and annoying.

While there are certain flaws, this series got me hooked. Part of the pleasure is the pacing, which is somewhat relaxed but for me adds to it. Walters pbs intro makes an offhand reference to the Montalbano series which he says non uccidere is superior to and from a certain perspective, this is true. There is virtually no levity here and there are many touching scenes.
