This one is still touching to me
25 December 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I wish movies like these were still made.

Usually, animated movies like these don't find my favor, neither do I remember them very long. However, there's something about this one that somehow touches my heart. I first saw this video when I was about 8 years old, maybe a little older, 10 at the most. Years later, My younger brother, about 9, wanted to watch this video. I was 16 then, and at first, I had no interest in watching the movie. But then I remembered watching it years ago, and thought, oh, what the heck, I'm not doing anything today. So I watched it. Things that I paid no attention to when I was young I now watched closely. The introduction, transitions, quality of the video, the story, and reality of the video and characters. Even though this video is over 15 years old, it still had exceptionally good quality for a VHS tape. The characters are so real, you like them instantly. When I say real, I mean being able to tell the difference between a male and a female mouse, badger, and other critters that were in this movie. The young furlings start out as typical kids, mischievous and selfish. This leads to a few minor consequences. Eventually, they realize the danger and the reality of the real world out there, for example, the road. Now, I could get picky and say the car, tanker truck, "Yellow Dragons", and the humans did not look very realistic, but hey! This video isn't based on those things, so why judge the movie by that?

When Michelle falls sick, the other young furlings realize the need to work together, get along, share, obey rules, and never give up. The songs, especially "Please Wake Up" were very touching, and even brought tears to my eyes. I liked how the furlings learned to respect their elders, so to speak, such as Uncle Cornelias, who was very wise. They balanced to movie very well with suspense and action.

The end brought tears to my eyes once again, as it was very touching. It is an animated film and yet it brings out the reality of life. The only few things I would have done differently are these:

1. If I was uncle Cornelius, I would have been much more upset with the furlings after they did foolish things, especially, when it ruins long periods of work. 2. It would have been nice to see Abigail with Willy again, since they liked each other. I thought for sure he would return to the picture towards the end, but never saw him. 3. It was really sad to leave Michelle without a Mommy or Daddy.

Those are the only things I would have done differently. Like I said, I wish Fox still made good movies like this one. The new animated movies have much better graphics, but the stories usually aren't the greatest, and they tend to add humor and content that isn't really appropriate for children.

What is the world coming to?
25 December 2008
Warning: Spoilers
It's hard to believe that people would actually want to listen to the harsh language that's on this film! Well, our world is in a really sad state.

I came across this film on Youtube, while trying to find the trailer for "Once upon a Forest". Someone had taken the audio from this film and mixed it with the video from Once upon a Forest. VERY DISTURBING, especially since they are mixing this with a children's video on Youtube!

It's sad how people love laughing at others cussing. Very sad.

I really hope people's eyes are someday opened to the real danger of movies like this.

It came close to TLWW, but not quite.
11 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
After watching TLWW, I couldn't wait to get my eyes on Price Caspian. Being a huge Narnia fan, and I love the books and movies. C.S. Lewis was a gifted writer, and had a huge imagination. The beginning was good, but I was hoping that Caspian's tutor would explain more to Caspian about Narnia, it's creatures, and the 4 Great Kings and Queens of Old. I believe it would help someone who has not seen TLWW to get the big picture of the story. As the movie continued, I did enjoy the added humor, and the confidence and trust they had in themselves as Kings and Queens. But before long, the humor did get a little repetitive and old, but it did crack me up every once in a while. Lucy was the best of them all, though, believing in Aslan. She clearly had the most faith. Moving on, I saw how the movie drifted far away from the book, which was a disappointment. At first I was negative about Peter's attitude. But as I got to thinking about it, it made sense. He used to be the "HIGH KING", and now he's considered just a kid. It seemed his "magnificense" was gone, and he didn't seem to be the great king he used to be. Sometimes the scenes seemed to pass to quickly, but it varied. But I loved Aslan. He looked the best he ever did look, and everything about him was so real. I really didn't care how Susan took part in the battles, and other combat situations. But if she liked Caspian, that hardly comes as a surprise. It seemed they went a little to far with her makeup, especially on the eye shadow, which I didn't like. Otherwise, everyone else looked natural. Another thing was, it seemed like the characters said "shutup" to each other much more than the Narnians ever would. I also got the feeling that Andrew Adamson was adding to much "Shreck" to the movie. This is a classical story, not a modern day cartoon. Then came the invasions, battles, and all that good stuff. LOVED IT! Everything was so real, it felt like you were there in the battle. The ending was touching, considering the fact that Peter and Susan will never return to Narnia. Even with that, it left me with hope for the return of Edmund and Lucy. I just hope next time Andrew Adamson sticks to the book more, and I also hope he makes it more like TLWW, humor and interaction wise. Other than that, it was great, especially when you compare it to the old BBC version which was done 15 years ago. I would recommend it to any Narnia fan.

An action packed, high speed search for the treasure, and it's FUN to watch!
29 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
When I borrowed this movie from a friend, I just couldn't stop watching it! The Special Effects, Actors, Humor, Settings, and Story were some of the best I have ever seen! I like how it begins, I like how it continues, and I like how it ends. If you like action packed, thrilling adventures, this movie is for you! There is only one problem though, ONLY ONE. This would have been a great family movie, safe for everyone, IF they would have just left out the bad language and "immodist" dressing. Otherwise, this movie couldn't have been done better. If you have seen this movie, you know exactly what I mean. If you have not seen it, what are you waiting for??? Watch the movie, and leave your positive feedback like everyone else.

A Great, Family Friendly Movie For All Ages!
29 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
From adding the Blitz, to extending the battle, and warming your heart at the end, this movie is one of the best family films ever produced! Based on The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, which over 40 million copies have been sold, Disney takes C. S. Lewis' Best Selling children's book, waves the magic wand over it, and brings it to life! The Actors, William Mosley as Peter, Anna Popplewell as Susan, Skander Keynes as Edmund, and Georgie Henley as Lucy, were outstanding! Andrew Adamson did an amazing job as the director, and extra credit to him, because this was his first live action film ever produced. That was the big question, He did great with the Shrek movies, BUT, how is he going to do with live action movies? He didn't do it just to do it, he did it from his heart, and that is what makes a great film. The special effects were also amazing, being done with care and the latest technology. Also, the fine details weren't minimized, but maximized. For example, in the beaver's house, they could have skimped by without adding the things that the book said the beavers had in their house. They also could have left the wolves tails unchanged, wagging like a puppy's, chasing after a ball or toy. The story itself is a big part, a story that teaches an important lesson, touches your heart, and builds your courage and character. All around, it's a great film, and a must see for everyone. That's why it came in first place in family films in 2005. That's why there's a special four disk special edition available. That's why over 40 million copies have been sold. And that's why I'm typing this today. But don't take my word for it, See for yourself what I mean. I'm sure you'll agree.

If you're considering this film because you liked Narnia and Lord of the Rings, don't go for it!
24 July 2007
Warning: Spoilers
And two thumbs down for Bridge to Terebithia! I bought the movie because I enjoyed "The Chronicles of Narnia" and I thought that Bridge to Terabithia would be somewhat like it. Not in the least. Even though the Actors and special effects were good, (which were the only things that got my 2 stars) the language, rude humor, disrespect to elders, false teachings about God and the Bible, and the... oh my goodness, extremely sad ending. I mean, Jess' best friend Leslie Drowning!?!? We don't even see her again! And the media calls this movie a "great family movie!?" yeah, only if you want to pollute your family with language and rude humor and have them crying at the end of the film! I came close to crying like the rest of my family, but I was so disgusted with the film that I couldn't. It just wasn't that sad for me. Another thing that really caused my rating for the film to go down was this "magical" land wasn't magical at all, only powered by imagination. Narnia and the Lord of the Rings had real lands in the books, not imaginary lands like Terabithia! So, Disney, and whoever is the Author of the Book, Better luck next time!
