Fool Me Once (2024)

Watchable, but...
2 January 2024
Watchable, as long as you are willing to look over a few holes and inconsistencies in the story.

The worst part for me was the mis-casting of the lead , 'Mya'. She's meant to be a combat trained, helicopter pilot badass from the wrong side of the tracks, who somehow married into 'old money' but there she is with her lip filler and eyelash extensions in a war zone, clearly not a fighter. If it was a lesser role, it might have made it easier to watch, but she just didn't pull it off nor look the part.

Aside from this, I persisted and enjoyed the drama and a few twists, but would have been a much better watch with a more suitable lead.

It gets great- stick with it!

I had been waiting for this for ages, but the OTT character of Eddie was almost too much for me at first. Anyway, as it says in other reviews, it all calms down pretty soon, and develops into a clever, funny murder mystery with great acting and other stereotypes are addressed in more subtle, nuanced ways.

I'm really glad I stuck through that one annoying episode otherwise I would have missed all this other brilliance! I would hate to see the initial over the top caricature be the downfall of this show, because it is so good, and Eddie turns into a far more likeable, vulnerable and funny character.

Just hanging out for the final episode now, then I might do it all again!
