ARA San Juan: El submarino que desapareció (2024)
A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT
I started watching the series with a lot of expectations. Unfortunately, by the end of the first episode I had already found out that it was a disgusting piece of political propaganda.
Interviewed people are completely biased, even when one takes into account their personal grief of the crew´s relatives.
The so-called "naval expert" Fernando Morales (a merchant seaman) appears wearing a uniform with non-existent rank insignias, and speaks about virtually everything, from politics to psychology. There´s this pathetic character, Mariano Pi, who belongs to a group of self-appointed researchers, who tries to tear down scientific evidence with nothing but unfounded assumptions. And the same goes for Sergio Díaz.
Virtually all the people interviewed are completely partial in their statements.
What could be a very nice piece of documentary turned into a cheap political flyer.
Pablo Escobar: El Patrón del Mal (2012)
POORLY MADE
The whole story smells to low-cost, low-quality Latin American soap opera. The performances are mostly poor and exaggerated, and there are many technical errors in every single episode.
Besides, the producers seem not to have taken the minumum care to detail. The even changed the helicopter used in two successive scenes, which makes them think every spectator is an idiot.
The sequence after minister Lara Bonilla´s assassination is worth of a B-class movie. I went on watching in the hope that at some point it would improve, to no avail. Finally, I quit after around thirty or so episodes and switched to the much better "Narcos".
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
BETTER THAN EXPECTED
I started watching it beacuse it was on my list, but without many expectations. It turned out to be one of the best movies I´ve ever seen.
And one of the few 10s I ever gave to a movie on IMDB.
Disobedience (2017)
DISAPPOINTED
I expected more from Rachel Weisz, actually, I expected more from the whole movie. I kept watching it, hoping at some point it would gather pace, which it didn´t.
The Last Thing He Wanted (2020)
WHAT A CRAP!!!
My goodness! I was ready to watch at least a good movie, since I like both Ben Affleck and Anne Hathaway (I LOVE HER), but after less than half an hour I realized it wasn´t going anywhere. I stayed until the end hoping it would get better at some point, but it didn´t.
Away (2020)
A NICE SURPRISE!
I was on a long leave from work, and about to run out of options, I decided to start watching this, mostly because I love Hilary Swank.
I was surprised from episode 1, for, instead of the usual unlikely stuff I was ready to see, I found a very well made story, where the sci-fi is only a part of it. In fact, the human story behind each of the characters is strong and well developed, the performances are superb, especially those in supporting roles, and the special effects and photography are truly outstanding.
I reached the final episode wanting for more.
Moonlight (2016)
A TRUE CRAP OF A FILM
I started watching the movie with a lot of expectations, and I was strongly disappointed. The pace is broken, like many pieces of the story mingled together with no apparent meaning. I went on to the end expecting that it would get better at some point, but it didn´t. The only part worth watching is when the already adult Chiron visits his mother at the hospice, and it doesn´t last more than a few minutes.
A pitty, because the story could have made for an excellent movie.
I wonder what people were thinking about when they voted it for Academy Award for the Best Picture.
