Formula 1: Drive to Survive (2019)
Great insider view of Formula 1 racing!
Drive to Survive' is gritty, real, and a great look into the business side of Formula 1. If you kind of like racing, but don't know anything and wan't to get a good look behind the scenes, this series is for you.
And, ladies, the drivers are all young, charismatic and, generally, great looking!
I never followed racing, but after the first season I started becoming interested in Formula 1. The great thing is that this show isn't about the winners. It is about the struggles of being a Formula 1 team and the pressure faced by the drivers. Last year there was nothing from Mercedes or Ferrari so I assume they refused to be a part of the series. Well, I guess their drivers were like, "Why aren't we on this show?". So, in the second season, both Mercedes and Ferrari are "enthusiastic" participants.
The Soup (2004)
Jade Catta-Pratta, Season 13, is awful
Joel McHale and the legacy "Soup" was the most hilarious TV show I have ever watched. I would frequently laugh until I started crying.
I'm crying now, but they are tears of disappointment over how not-funny and not-entertaining the new Soup is. I'm sure Jade Catta-Pratta is a great match for hosting something, but this is not it.
I would give it zero stars, but the video clips are still funny although they don't seem as raunchy and funny as they were during the Joel McHale days.
Very Big Disappointment.
Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party (2016)
Every African American should watch this!
The first part is really about the history of African Americans in the United States. I like to think that I'm an informed person, but I had no idea how dark the history of the Democratic party was when it came to African Americas. Initially, I will give D'Souza credit for accurately representing the facts, but I'm still a little shocked and will do my own fact checking. If even half of what D'Souza says about is true, it will cause me to fundamentally question my beliefs about the Democratic party. Right now I think that every African American should watch this and make their own judgments.
The Witcher (2019)
Great potential but very hard to follow.
I thought it was great except for the flipping back and forth along the timeline. Frankly, I almost stopped watching after the third episode as I was completely lost on the plot sequence. They should have kept a straight timeline with some obvious, and announced, shifts.
It's like you have a narrator who is completely familiar with a story, frantically going back and forth in time, trying to explain it to people who have never heard it. I'm really surprised that Netflix would allow this as it really made the plot hard to follow.
This could / should have been presented in a much better way.
From memory, my gut suggestion would be to skip the first episode and then watch it at the end for reference.
