Freddy (2022)
It's a one-time watch movie at best. 1 star for KA's efforts.
The first half is intriguing and will blend with KA's portrayal as an extreme introvert.
I liked the portrayal of Alaya as a Savitri Nari, she was beautiful. I did not like the other guy & his awkward Parsi accent was disgusting.
The movie is a one-time watch, +1 star for KA trying something new.
Even in his last movie Dhamaka, the first part was thrilling. Then the hype doesn't last for too long.
We need movies that have a solid ending, the maker has to make it from the conclusion part first.
I did not like the ending of this movie and characters who are suppose to be witty are somehow DUMB AF.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
The sane Marvel formula seems doesn't work
Taika did a great job with Ragnarok because the dark world failed.
But now love and thunder was a mediocre Thor movie. It lacked pacing, screenplay, Christian bale and action.
I did not enjoy the movie. Let me break it down,
It starts with thor saving a planet from distress, (action)
Then they GOTG (guardian of the galaxy) and Thor part their ways.
Thor goes to save Sif from Gorr and the new Asgard.
There he meets mighty thor Jane, and the refurbished Mjolnir (some action)
Then some comedy and building the screenplay for the end.
Then thor and the team confront Gorr (Lil action).
The final action and happy ending.
It's boring and predictive.
Compared to the prequel it's not even half entertaining.
One time to watch, I'm thinking to hold onto any upcoming Marvel movies.
The Boys (2019)
The more you watch the more you like it
I like everything about this series from casting to the bad side of heroes.
Well, the comics were wide received. And Amazon chose to make a show out of it. Though there are some changes in the character's gender, storyline, etc.
But the way they have executed is mind-blowing.
Season 3 was the most anticipated one, but every episode was worth the wait. I like the way the series is going.
Looking ahead to season 4.
Must watch, great acting, VFX, casting, screenplay.
Hustle (2022)
Sandler's movie selections and acting are like fine wine now.
Well, I like that Adam Sandler's movie selections are like fine wine now.
First uncut gems, then this.
It seems he had 5 movies deal with Netflix for 200 million.
I like that it had the authenticity of a struggling aspiring coach. And Sandler was a basketball player, so he can relate.
I like that the backstory drop was more than enough to fill us.
Juancho Hernangomez playing Bo Cruz is a real-life athlete.
He acted well.
Overall it's a good movie, refreshing to watch and relate.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Quite predictable, huge cast is not always interesting
The screen was cropped due to the aspect ratio. (I saw it in PVR India & not IMAX).
Well, it starts from where they left in 2018. The dinosaurs are living among the public, throughout the world. Making a place for themselves in the eco system.
They have a huge star cast, especially from the Jurassic park franchise.
It's one time watch, with a predictable storyline and awful dialogues.
You must go with your lil ones(kids) or there is no adventure in it.
Tabbar (2021)
Too much coincidences. Did not like it.
It's indianized, the coincidences are way too much. You might realise it in the 2nd episode. Poor direction and screenplay.
Casting was good, All the actors were good and performed well.
Not even one time watch.
Peacemaker (2022)
A true DC Fan loves it
James Gunn is Magician. He works wonder, I feel he has Midas touch. You give him any unrecognizable character and he churns out gold from it.
Like I can't recognize Peacemaker without John Cena and vice versa.
I love the slow build and action after the build up, there were many surprises.
Loved the casting especially Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase / Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Adebayo, Murn, Economos, White Dragon.
James Gunn should quit Marvel and work with DC Full time, so that the quality of the content would increase.
Would love to wait for season 2.
Gehraiyaan (2022)
Batra's 4th stint is a one time watch, Liked DP after OSO
Must be very tough for Batra directing and extracting the essence from all the actors. Especially when Deepika and Ananya were on the shots alone.
The first half was spicy and engaging. Deepika and Ananya were manageable with other huge actors overcasting them. But when they were alone it became really awkward.
Its the second half which made me check the remaining time again and again.
Overall it was the same formula they did from the Kapoor and Sons, hoping to see the success again.
But it failed.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
By far the best Spiderman movie!!
The movie starts from where it was left on Far From Home.
The beginning is the most exciting part.
Middle felt like director's cut (lame meme jokes and long dialogues was avoidable)
Good dual video calling scene.
The usual side of spiderman, lovable and reasonable.
You would love it for sure.
Direction, Screenplay, Storyboarding and graphics are worth praising.
Thoughts:
They (Marvel) are way ahead in terms of content execution (in phases) from their peers and the way they can introduce multiple casts is hats off.
After a long time went for the first day show,
This will be the covid breakers in terms of revenue.
Marvel has already hooked us in their storyline,
Can't wait to see Dr. Strange for the madness of multiverse.
Sardar Udham (2021)
Cannot believe that this is a Soorjit Sarkar's film
The film was blant, flat. I would never go to watch this movie in a theater.
Vicky Kaushal tried but failed as the direction and screenplay was so poorly done.
I lost the plot midway when the protagonist goes to see the grave of Dyer. They did not explain that he was diff.
I hate to break this but try this movement, the Jalianawala Bagh massacres and Udham Singh needed a good impact.
And on paper Vicky and Soorjit are the best name someone can imagine.
I guess the assistant was not top notch or maybe due to the politics this was the outcome.
But who am I to imagine.
Don't watch, you would regret watching.
Dhamaka (2021)
One time watch movie, Kartik did a good job and what an ending.
A good one time watch movie, it had me grasped but in midway it loses it pace.
The screenplay and director were lost in the end.
I liked Kartik Aryan, he selected a good project and he has 90% of screen Time.
All the other characters were minimal and also they lost the plot of his bribery thingy.
I was amazed with the ending, as we Indian were never ready for the sad twist.
But it was sort of realistic and after shifat this had some twist.
The One (2021)
The One - one time you can watch
The One is about a match making app, which has made its founders billions. Apparently the co founders have left, and is run by the main protagonist.
It has some twist, some fake relationships, some possessive couple.
It's one time watch, it will be a achievement if you can complete it in one go.
Jungle Cruise (2021)
You know it's good, if it's inspired by a Disneyland ride
Dwayne and Emily are good in their respective roles.
The back story was really really good.
The animation was top notch and as a whole was a great watch.
I would recommend you to take your loved ones, especially kids who would enjoy it in theatre.
A great one time watch.
As Good as It Gets (1997)
I loved it!
Well I started this movie for Jack Nicholson, but then realised that Helen Hunt and Greg Kinnear are amazing as well.
The story is plain and simple, A misanthropic Jack Nicholson's character is bigoted and has OCD.
Greg Kinnear is his neighbour and painter who's also gay. They don't have a good relationship. Greg's character is unfortunately involved in a mishap.
On the other side Helen Hunt's character is a single mother looking after her mother and son having asthama.
Jack then happens to be in between doing favours and this small deed changes him completely.
In the process makes him a better man.
There are some 2-3 scenes of 30-45 secs where a kid is not suppose to watch.
Altogether a great romantic comedy. Must watch with your loved ones.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum: HBO First Look (2019)
Realistic actions are back.
Loved the movie, almost after a decade I'm falling in love with actions. Pure action movie, just like Extraction, Wrath of the men and Nobody.
This defines that if the action in the action genre are great, you don't need other things such as building deeper character arcs or a bigger back story. You can just resume the act after some build.
And I completed the John wick saga as a marathon..
So I was in the JW universe for some time.
Keenu Reeves is love and God.
Shershaah (2021)
For the first time Siddhart acted.
I've been following him since SOTY times. His movie Hassee toh phasee was good but his act was missing in it.
I believe that the audience accepted him as a soldier and as Vikram Batra, his young blood totally accumulated the screenplay.
The love story was sweet and subtle, Kiara as always falls perfectly in the place as a heartthrob.
The songs made an impact and didn't feel like unnecessary.
Must watch in Amazon prime with family.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Marvel cooks the same recipe but every time it works
What does the Ironman, Thor, etc. Movie had in common?
Some newbie (yet to be famous) guy, and with great animation, action sequences, screenplay, character arcs, some old and established actors, great camera & direction works and at last the happy endings.
Same with this one. I liked the movie, a great experience in a long time, post covid.
Must watch it in theatre or with family and kids.
You would love and enjoy watching it.
Marvel is the boss and they have proofed 20+ times.
Free Guy (2021)
Met expectations as a one time watch.
I liked the movie and would love to watch with family and kids. There was some known knowledge about the core story of the movie, but I liked some of the cameo scences.
As a whole I enjoyed watching it.
Candyman (2021)
Yahya Abdul again in a hopeless situation.
I have not seen the prequels of the movie. But this one was less horrifying towards the candyman and more towards the racial discrimination.
I understand that Jordan Peele was involved and his recent ventures like get out and Us is hit. But this was more as an average watch.
I did not get thrills with each candyman entry. It was flat for me.
Old (2021)
M. Night Shyamalan is back with yet again one time watch thriller
It's one time watch, apart from the children's rapid grow nothing was thrilling.
I liked the part how children behaved and acted. The arc for the other cast could have been better. And also the ending.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
The beginning of new era for DC cinematic universe
When James Gunn was hired to make this movie I was quite sceptical, what extra can he bring to the Sinking ship (DC Universe)
But man he got some liberty.
He got the liberty to play with the timeline flashing back to the past.
Played with the authenticity of the characters in a good way and building up.
Loved the screenplay and the unexpected deaths we need.
First time in my life DC CINEMATIC UNIVERSE looked possible, I liked how STARRO, king shark 🦈 were acceptable in the cinematic sequence.
I would love to watch more.
Sex Education (2019)
The series flows like a river!
I was waiting for season 2, shows like this one are rare to find and rarer to make. Once you start the series, it just flows like a river and before you know, you'll be stranded for another season, yet to be announced.
The casting is adorable, Adam Groff (Connor Swindels) resembles like Headmaster Groff (Alistair Petrie). Maeve (Emma Mackey) looks slightly like her Mom and mind blowing acting by every one.
This teen series with a slight sex education plot is what you'll feel like replenishing your college life again.
Do watch with the loved ones.
The Witcher (2019)
Sorted for the happy holidays, must watch!!
A wise selection by Henry Cavill after Immortals (2011), storyline, screenplay was a bit vivid but was amazing while unraveled. Can't wait for next action packed season with more monster and magic.
P. S. The storyteller with song was amazing to watch.
P. S. S If you have not played the game then it's fine, it's never too late.
