Doctor Who: Flux: Chapter One - The Halloween Apocalypse (2021)
Excellent start to a serialised run
This series has done wonders for character development already. This plays to Chibnall's strengths.
So many plot threads, action, character moments, creepiness and mystery is built up...
The execution is going to dictate the series as a whole, but what a start.
Plus.. Jodie was on fire!
Class (2016)
Starts slow but it is worth it for the final few episodes
Class as a series is really enjoyable due to Katherine Kelly's performance as Quill.
I'd say the storylines are lacklustre until episode 5/6 and the last few episodes are all solid 10/10.
I'd try to get through the start for an amazing emotions punch at the end.
Doctor Who: The Eaters of Light (2017)
Classic Who feeling not anywhere else
This episode in terms of threat is actually fairly basic, but where it really shines is it's similarities to the old show and how it plays with that by having alone time with Bill and Nardole.
This is an excellent character piece, but if you're looking for a huge game changing lead on to the finale you're not going to get it.
I give this a 10 because I believe the character moments are so good that it deserves this score.
Farewell, Sarah Jane (2020)
Fitting end to an abruptly cancelled series.
Of course, due to Liz's passing, the show ended half way through its 5th series. Years later as this came out (to not disrespect Liz's legacy) - we are presented with the original actors at the funeral of Sarah Jane Smith.
An emotional rollercoaster focused purely on characters as they say goodbye and reflect on how Sarah Jane changed their life.
Without specifics, this episode offers the emotional punch the series deserved to end on, along with closure on all of the main cast aside from Maria - a gag just about cut it for her.
Still, amazing send off.
Recommend 10/10
Doctor Who: The Timeless Children (2020)
Brilliant and Bold
This finale is epic, bold and certainly welcome me after the buildup of series 12. It's emotional. Bring tissues.
The Doctor was on fire, along with the Master, the other characters were solid too!
Only downside is they could have done with an extra 10 minutes since it's tackling so much. But they managed to pull it all off, so it was great. And the surprises blow your mind.
Definitely worth a watch!
Doctor Who: Can You Hear Me? (2020)
What an amazing message! And Yaz's growth Wow
I will keep this review short to avoid spoilers. If you're going for a huge sci-fi epic adventure like the RTD era this may not be for you. But, what it is really hits home. The emotional impact along with the development of companions hand in hand with the story really showed Chibnall's era is different to the others which isn't bad. It was amazing.
Doctor Who: The Haunting of Villa Diodati (2020)
Return to form
This series so far has been a vast improvement over series 11, and with Spyfall, Fugitive of the Judoon and now this, that's 3 episodes that'll go down in history.
I won't spoil this, but what it sets up is truly exciting and I can't wait to see more.
Loving this series so far!
Doctor Who: Fugitive of the Judoon (2020)
What an amazing twist.
This episode overall was just astounding. I can't go into much without spoilers, but watch it before you get spoiled. You will be on your toes for the entire thing screaming at the TV! Amazing!
