Los mánagers (2006)
A nasty road movie with some brilliant points
This is the funny story of two lazy losers that decide to become managers, in order to fill their pockets. They discover a pair of talented brothers who work on a car dump. They all arrive to an agreement with a ex-folkloric singer, that now is into drug smuggling, by which the young brothers will perform in some seaside resorts. They will have to compete with some other 'professionals'and lots of surrealistic situations. Indeed, the film has hilarious points but I guess that non-Spanish or Latin viewers won't fully get all the shades of this kind of humor. Great interpretation of the Moroccan hitch-hiker performer.
El taxista ful (2005)
Captivating mass-agitation docu-drama
This docu drama shows the story of a 52 year-old man who lives on the borderline of poverty who can't find a job. He 'steals' taxis in order to earn some money and when the night finishes he gets the cab back to his owner. This is a loud-voice critic to the Spanish political system and how unemployment becomes an industry. How governments control their societies amongst unemployment, and how paradoxically a man can find himself forced to become a soft criminal because of the system. This movie thrills the viewer and pulses him to think deep about the topic it throws light on, but anyway, this is a sad real story.
